Oh hai!

Zlad aka David in real life here.
It's safe to say that my brother, Jonas "Wh*reblat" Martinsson, brought me here. Although I am not quite as nerdy as the oldest offspring of our mother, I am dedicating the better part of my days playing all kinds of games. Mostly PC games, simply due to the fact that I don't have any other console at my place. It still happens that I fire up Ye Olde Pokemon Yellow from time to time on an emulator though.

The reason I'm signing up here and thinking of becoming a bit more active rather than being a lazy lurker is because I'm currently working on a Max Payne 2 DoA SS run. I will probably put up videos of routes from time to time, hoping to get some feedback. Well, I suppose you guys know the drill.
Other things I do:
- Is there other things?
- Oh yeah, beer I've heard is a good thing.

I suppose that's about it. PM me or whatever if you have something to say or ask. =]
I. Hear. A. Sound.
Hi, I was introduced to SDA by one of your marathons.

I have always been a fan of competitive gaming (scorerunning shoot 'em ups for example), so I decided to try speedrunning as well.
I saw Drakengard (a game I used to play six years ago) in the requests so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Hello,

I've been following you guys for a very long time, but never really tried to get involve in the scene. I watched every marathon and donated some money for the cause. Every time I said to myself "Damn, I want to meet these people one day. What a bunch of cool people!" So lately I've been really interested in watching live streams and comment in any way I can.

On the Web, in the past I made video with my bro on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/shmupgurus. We only made 4 videos and that was it. Now I'm interested in publishing runs for some underrated/obscure games like Bionic Commando Rearmed and Bionic Commando (2009). I'll be practicing a lot, and streaming probably. I'm still new to all this stuff so I don't know what's going to happen!

Anyways, if I need tips I know where to go! Talk to you guys later!
Robot Master
Hey. My name's JustThrowMoney, also known as DiscoCokkroach on Xbox Live, Shoryuken, and YouTube (if you happened to have run into me elsewhere). Lately, I've been a fighting gamer (I play both the Street Fighter and Vs. series), but a recent playthrough of my favorite RPG, Final Fantasy VIII, got me thinking, "Man, this game is really long!" I'd also been wanting to do some kind of challenge run for FF8 for a long time, but many of the typical challenges seemed too tedious or too forced (e.g., No Junction, Magic Only, No Stat Junctions, etc.).  Hence, I decided to go for a speed run, and joining the SDA forums felt like a good first step toward achieving that goal Smiley

I plan on starting with FF8, and it'll probably a low% or 100% MS run. Afterwards, I may just do another FF8 run to see if I can't get a better time, or I might switch over to FF7, MGS2, MGS3, or something that I can't think of right now.

Currently, I'm just looking at speed running as a different way to enjoy the games that I play. I may fix to submit a run some day, but for now, I'm just getting my feet wet. God bless, mates! Cheesy

What's good, folk?

A lot of you've seen me lurking in your channels. Some of you know me, just figured I'd stop being such a bum and actually make an account 'round here.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a corner to sit in. *points to the back*
Master of Awkwardness
Hey there, I'm Lukas. I've been around watching speedruns since the first AGDQ marathon. I first found out about SDA from UltraJMan because I was subscribed to him since forever ago.

Anyways, I'm an idiot and change my name all the time. I usually lurk around JMan's stream when I'm not feeling up to playing Multiplayer games and he happens to be streaming. I play League of Legends quite a bit even though I'm not really that good at it. I have a Youtube channel at youtube.com/LukasJonesLoL. Haven't uploaded much there, but things will happen soon when I stop being lazy.

Hi I am Max, also known as Makarluva, I am very active in streams and have taken up Oracle of Seasons (and also Ages) and will later do Rocket: Robot on Wheels. I love history, especially that of the United States. I was introduced by speedrunning by my roommate and I love to watch and play games (mostly watch).

Hey, I'm Ghoul. I'm more speedrunning enthusiast than speedrunner, although I do want to find a way onto the site.

I hope to be around.
Metal Gear Rising Speedrunner
Hey, I'm Errorjack. I speedrun Skyward Sword and Mario Kart 64. My runs with Skyward Sword are improving greatly and my Mario Kart skills are just horrific. Everything about speedrunning is about practice, which is what I do most of the time. I've found out about speedrunning a long time ago when my friends and I were trying to complete Goldeneye 007 N64 as fast as we could. I then went online to try to find runs and started seeing many other games.

If you enjoy Skyward Sword,  you should really speedrun it!
Hai everyone! Im Fenrikaz, my real names Nick. I speedrun OoT, Star fox adventures, and The hobbit ( GC Version ). I've always been interested in speedrunning games and I have been for the past year. I mostly signed up because I am currently working on getting Star Fox Adventures and the hobbit world records :P. I often stream on my twitch ( www.twitch.tv/fenrikaz ), whether it be SFA, OoT, Or the hobbit... its usually just about all day long!

Maybe instead of being so much of a lurker, I'll check up more now. Haha
Hi, I'm a general speed run fan and plan on doing a run of Streets of Rage in the future.
Hello everyone, ive been to SDA countless times in the past, but just now decided to register. Glad to be here and looking forward to some great runs.

I chose 'Hysteria zzz' simply because it is my XBL GT - more specific, Hysteria is my favorite MLG pro (halo3/reach)
But my real name is Mike...

Anyways, Im about to start school at SCC for aeronautics and would love to spend my free time here watching videos that remind me of my childhood. I will, in the future, be donating. I am looking forward to being here as with making some new friends.
Sup guys. Before I go on about what evs, I can be called Ging.
I only started thinking about speedruns when I first saw CosmoWright trying for the OoT Any% WR with the latest glitch (Deku Tree to Ganon fight). I haven't ever completed a run (although I tried the route for OoT and got to Gohma), but my main priority for speedrunning is, for now, James Bond games. This is because I've not seen that many (aside from Goldeneye N64), and I wanted to start by being creative. My two first choices are the two PS2 JB games that are direct plots from the films: From Russia With Love and Quantum of Solace (Nightfire, Everything or Nothing, Agent Under Fire and Goldeneye Rogue Agent are original stories). Favourite game - I have too many favourites XD
PS. I don't have any real recording equipment for consoles, so I have to use my laptop's webcam, which hasn't the greatest quality in the world, but it's better than anything else. And for PC I use XSplit.
You play to win the game!
Hello! I am a new member of this site. My real name is Brandon. I wasn't really that big into trying to speedrun games until I had bought a copy of RE4 and saw a video of a speedrun and said, "I wonder how close to that I can get." So I have watch many of the videos on speed demo archives and have tried running RE4 and RE5, but am moving on to others. I am not really great at games, but i do love playing them.
Hello Everyone. I joined this site because I feel that there has been a huge oversight saying that final fantasy 2 and final fantasy 4 are the same game. The speed runs you have on this site are from FF2 which has much easier monsters, cheaper items, and overall is edited to be much easier then the original. I would like to attempt a speed run at the japanese version of this game translated into english, and to speed run this monstrous game in all its original difficulty. I still have a long way to go and some one else may do this before me, however the final fantasy 4 from Japan is much harder, I think it will prove much more rewarding. Hopefully you guys can see my run when it is finished. I still have a lot of research to do on this site. I also need to map out quite a bit as this will be my first ever speed run.
If you did a run on the Japanese version of FF4, it would be treated as a separate category from the US version since it is significantly different. The version differences would be reflected on the game page.

However, the fact that you said "japanese version translated into english," does this mean you were planning on running this on an emulator, or is there some official translated version of the original that I am unaware of?
Pop rocks
Greetings everyone. Took me some time to actually get a forum thingy going here but I have visited this site too often to finally decide to do so. I'm familiar with a few of the users who've submitted their runs here and follow some of them closely and I, myself aspire to show my own personal best in a game or two some day but for now will keep that under wraps. So for now, it's nice to finally be here!
Shoryuken?
Hey SDAs,

i`m Steve from Germany. I`m a lifetime gamer since i was 7 years old. My first console was the Sega Genesis/Megadrive and i love Sonic to this very day much more than Mario ( although Mario is cool too ) because of Sonics lightning speed.
My interest in SDA grew a few years ago, when i saw Mike Uyamas "Revenge of the Shinobi" run. No Damage , 16 minutes.....i love this game, but  it was so freakin hard that i couldn`t believe it that it was possible to do this. Impresses me still .
Well, i`m specially interested in the good ol` retro games because i think, gaming nowadays has become something "easy, sloppy and awkward". There are very few good games out there ( new ones). This is the reason why i started looking for the Indie gaming scene and yeah! there are some gems like Super Meat Boy, Amnesia and Path of Exile.....

I joined SDA for two reasons :

1. You are awesome people, who do serious things with the help of your greatest hobby : gaming.  Doing Speedrunmarathons for charitys is so nice, it impressed me a lot.

2. You keep the good retro games( which i love so much) alive.

Thanx for the many nice runs . Hope one day i will be able to upload one myself ^^

Cheers
Must not sleep. Must warn others.
What's up folks, I'm Aesop, also known as Rick. I've lurked around the site since about 2008, and finally decided that I should just make an account. I've been playing games since I was about 3 (way back in the Atari & Sega Master System days), and now I spend most of my time collecting Super Nintendo games and watching Arrested Development without a shirt on. Now, random facts about myself....

1. I eat Chef Boyardee Ravioli directly out of the can. Cold. Like a man.

2. I spend ENTIRELY too much money on getting tattooed.

3. I'm a huge Stand Up Comedy nerd.

4. I love Basketball almost as much as I love Video Games.

5. I have been thrown out of the same Denny's twice.

That's pretty much it. Yup.
Hey my names Chris, also known as Lazy/Freak. Been trolling SDA for many years but finally decided to make an account.
Been gaming nearly all my life from console to console then to pc. I'm now trying to get involved in speed running and trying to compete with the best of the best on some of my favourite games.

Lazy
My name is Steven, but my handle is TOG. I'm The Obsessive Gamer. The Original Gamefreak. I don't yet have any of the time, skill, or equipment to try my hand at speedrunning, but eventually I'd like to submit something for some of my older and newer favorites. I also like the idea of bounty hunting, so I also look forward to trying new things to help out others, showcase my talents, and expand my gaming horizons.

My favorite games are mostly of the staples of the industry

1. Chrono Trigger (my first/favorite game)
2. Metal Gear series
3. Resident Evil series
4. Final Fantasy series
5. the Mario series

That said, I may be seen lurking around videos and forums involving those games and series. I may even attempt to beat some of the more feasible records. Introducing myself is just the first step in that journey.
Kupo!
Finally decided to make an account so hello! Cheesy Name is Erin, though most just call me Rin (easier than trying to say rinimt :P). I've been gaming since I was 6 years old with the original NA release of FFVI. I mainly play the FF series along with Star Ocean and just various other things. Kinda new to speed running in general, though I've been working on runs of FFVI Advance and Journey. Would also like to try my hand at some others but those two are my focus right now.

I'm typically not really a big forum poster and tend to just lurk around. We'll see what happens though ^_^;.
Mega Black Label
Hey everyone! Been lurking on the forums for about six months, checking out threads on games I've been tempted to run.

I'm not an amazing gamer, but I'm hoping, with some support from you guys, I'll be inspired to finally attempt some runs.
Some examples I've had in mind include Saints Row the Third, Asterix & Obelix SMS and Monster World 4.

Looking forward to chatting with you guys more and seeing (and creating I hope!) many more awesome speed runs!
I've been a long time SDA lurker and decided to finally dive in on the forums. I've watched the past 2 SDA AGDQ marathons and the summer marathon this year as well. I regularly watch the streams as well. A few of them have helped me with my own games. I've been wanting to get more into speed running myself, but as of now I've just been focused on beating fairly difficult games. Overall I just like watching gameplay footage and lots of skill involving the games.

Hi all, long time user of the site here (I've loved this site for many years) but I've never bothered to sign into the forum before now.

Real name - Adrian Gordon
I've been interested in speed runs for a long-ass time, long (and shitty) story short I did not attend most of my last two years of secondary school and spent them almost exclusively playing Resident Evil 2, before I even knew what speedrunning was. I perfected that game in and out, playing it from the day it was released until I finished secondary school every day.

But my problem is when things are on the line, I turn into a quitter. I always have. Basically, when I realized my average time was 5 minutes faster than the (then) fastest time instead of trying to prove it I simply bragged about it for a while, then when I was called out I decided to try and prove it. Being a stupid poor kid I went for the old "Photo of the TV" method to prove it to friends, that backfired because TV glare was a shitty thing back then. So I gave up. Fast forward and I've had so many hobbies over the years it makes my head spin, every single one of them I've done well at but always given up when things got truly difficult, various CCGs, various tabletop games, street fighter, chess, all sorts of shit. Always afraid that I'd somehow convinced myself I was good at something but that it wasn't really true, dodging opportunities to prove myself and making excuses, despite placing pretty well in some national CCG tournaments and etc I never believed in myself much.

I'm not a psychologist, and I don't believe I'm such a wreck that I need to see one. But it's taken me years to realize that what I do need to do is prove to myself and everyone else that I'm not a quitter, and to do that I'm going back to the first thing that was important to me that I remember giving up on. Resident Evil 2. If I fail that's one thing, but what I will not do this time is quit until I am happy with my performance for Leon Scenario A, if it comes in under 1:14 (which I know is possible, I have vivid memories of 1:12) then that's just a bonus. But I'm not quitting until I can smash 1:20 in the face.

Somewhat melodramatic, but that's what I hope to accomplish over the next few months. Nice to meet you all Smiley This forum seems like a great and friendly place.
