Well, i found the site years ago just from doing a few searches on google about GarlandG's ff7 perfect speedrun he's working on, and got linked to this site from there. Only signed up during the JRDQ because I realised how sweet the community was behind all of the speeruns and the events and such ^_^
I just joined SDA as a user today  but I've been watching the speedruns here for a few years now. I come here pretty often because speedruns really intrigue me. I think the first speedrun I ever saw was one of Ocarina of Time. When I saw how broken that game was back then (obviously it's even more broken now) I was amazed. I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

I've been wanting to make for some games that I'm surprised aren't here, but I don't have the equipment, or much practice. Plus, it's not easy to spend 15 hours a day on a game anymore since I'm in college and have a job. On top of that, my car is eating my money right now, but aside from that...

If and hopefully when I do decide to make a speedrun, the games I'm interested in are Okami for ps2, Ninja Gaiden II for 360, and Final Fantasy XII.

Also, for anyone that might be interested, I make music. I have a myspace profile which you can view here:

Hi!

Joined SDA because I found out that once you've finished a game, you wish sometimes to replay some parts, but without playing other ones. So I figured watching a speedrun can be interesting from that point of view.
And as the runs are divided in parts, it is fine to watch several extracts, with no mean to get *bored* :-)

Peace.
Hi folks!

Like Ignignog I'm watching the speedruns of this site for years (almost since the beginning) and always liked the way people try to beat my favourite games faster than everybody else. As a kid I were a passionate NES, SNES and N64 gamer and after a long pause I recently started again to put my games back into my consoles Wink I'm a Mega Man X fanatic an can beat the game in like 45 minutes till 1 hour, with which I'm not able to compete to the pros here Grin but I could try a speedrun of the game "Tintin in Tibet" for the SNES, if you like. This game is not in the SNES list by now and has a difficulty level beyond good and evil and is the pure hell! I hated this game as a kid....... ok even now I'm swearing a LOT while playing this game. Roll Eyes
Hey, I'm Geoff.  Just joined but I've be around for a year or so.  I'm thinking of doing a Pokemon Platinum run sometime soon but need proper equipment and time (College student with a job and part time web design work -____-) anyway, looking forward to being a part of the community!
hi
Hello, I decided to join these forums due to the latest marathons you guys had. thank you for the marathon, it was so entertaining that I literally turned down my friends and spent the whole weekend home to watch as much as I could.

I've known of this website for years and a occasionally watched a few of the speed runs, but I never really thought it was this big. So I'm hoping to get into the speed running scene.

The games I've speed run'd in the past are Mario Kart 64, Halo CE, Halo 2 (I've done 3 and Reach a few times but the first 2 are much more fun imo), Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Adventure 2. I'm starting to get into speed running a few more games, will definitely do the research to attempt to speed run Pokemon Black. And I'm starting to get back into classic platformers again.
Hey, I'm Colin. I'm a college student studying math. I've known about the existence of SDA for quite a while now but never really went there. I'm not really sure how I discovered this site in the first place, I think there was just some talk about these mythical creatures called "speedrunners" that break every game they get their hands on and live at some site called SDA.

Late last year I found out about TAS's and fell in love with them. I downloaded TAS's for every game I knew about and watched them religiously, but couldn't emulate any of the tricks they used. Later on I heard that SDA was doing a marathon and when I watched the runs I was completely in awe of the talent of the runners there. I think the combination of discovering TAS's and watching the marathon is what inspired me to actually get serious about speedrunning. I've always been pretty obsessive about mastering every video game I play, so you can see how getting interested in speedrunning was a natural step.

I have been practicing old 2D platformers like super mario world and yoshi's island for a few months now and I'm starting to get pretty good, but nowhere near as good as some of the people at this site, so I'm hoping that being a part of this community will help bring my abilities to the next level instead of just being intimidated.

That's a pity.
Sup.

Long time lurker here, been watching some of the speedruns since... I dunno, 2006? Decided to join the IRC channel and then decided to join the forum.

Not really planning to do any runs because I do not own a lot of the equipment needed to do so, but I might as well try and help people who ARE running games.
I would love to help is some way, if anyone needs help let me know Smiley
Waiting hurts my soul...
We need help finding verifiers. That is probably one of the best places to contribute. Other than that, if you don't plan to submit a run, there's the on-going tournament (for fun), casual speedrunning board, or just keep an eye out for games threads that you know well. Encouragement goes a long way as well.

You watch a run to determine if there has been any cheating and report on the quality of the run.  Check the verification forum and read a few of the more in-depth comments to get an idea of the job.

Here's the Master Topic for games needing verification.  Instructions are there too.

New here and to forums period but not gaming. The Metroid series is my shit, as is CoD. Currently running Metroid Zero Mission. Trying for a 100% single or segmented, although i didn't see a segmented 100% posted. You guys have that here? If not, single will have to do. CoD MW2 or BO is my heroin and looking to get on a legit team soon.

If anybody could point me to a go MZM forum that'd be much appreciated.

Hello~ Nice to meet you all. My name's May but I often am called Crystal, Fate, Shadow, or Fairy.

I've been watching SDA for a few years now (I don't even remember when I started, it's been that long!) but have found myself shying away from joining the community up until now. I find myself mostly playing RPGs, SHMUPs, and FPS games, though I'm not as great a gamer as I used to be a few years ago. I'm not very competitive when it comes to gaming (with some exceptions, like team based versus *Left 4 Dead for example*) and really prefer co-op gaming. My IRL job is very physically demanding and my health is somewhat frail, so it takes me longer to get enough energy to do stuff.

My primary desire at SDA is to be a streamer, since I like taking things easy and sometimes talking with people on skype while I'm playing. I suppose if I were to speed run something and actually be competitive, it'd likely be Final Fantasy 1 or Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (I timed myself when I was younger and 100%'ed it in about 2 hours, but had no method of recording back then.), for I grew up with those games. I'm also a big fan of Earthbound, but after seeing ARDQ and JRDQ I'm learning new ways to play the game and might consider trying to speedrun that at a much later date.

I work afternoons and evenings and am mostly around late night, so if you want to talk or game with me, send me a PM! If I don't respond right away I might've fallen asleep, so I'll get back to you ASAP =D I really look forward to being a part of SDA and it's really an honor to finally get to meet everyone here. Thanks for having me around ^_^
Hello, everyone. Ferathon here. Most every calls me Fera.

I originally found the site when looking up speedruns of Super Metroid after hearing a random person talking about them on a youtube video, but I ignored this site and went away, not extremely interested in running myself or even the idea of it. Then I started playing some games over and getting faster, noticing little time skips and stuff and started to enjoy doing that. That went nowhere though, until jiano and the rest moved over to Justin.tv, where I am quite often when I can be, and I watched him do a 120 Star SM64 run and I was hooked finally.

I'll be here, learning some more about some GBA games I'm fond of and running them, though my first attempts will be of Portal 2.

I'm excited to be here and look forward to talking to many of you in the future.
All I have to offer is my own confus

Hey people, I'm BroBuzz and I'm awful at introductions! xD I doubt anyone here wants to know more about me, but just in case...
I've been playing video games ever since I could hold a controller and semi-recently started collecting. I'm from Wisconsin and a big Packers fan _awesome_ But now I live in Florida.

I first heard about SDA through a speed-run video posted on youtube a few years ago and I've been visiting the site ever since. I'm pretty good at speed-running Wind Waker and Metroid (1-boss run), but that's about it. xD
Hi, I'm new. I have decided to start speedrunning for fun. I love Megaman, Zelda, and jrpgs, especially of the Square variety. I do not know if I will speedrun those things though.
Hey my name is Shawn Nakashima, ive been a huge fan of this site for a few years now. Ive tryed my hand at speedrunning a few games, so i know how many hours and how much detication it takes to produce and of the runs on this site. Im pretty good at running megaman 7 (did a sub 1 hour today), a link to the past (1:50ish), the misadventures of tron bonne (just over 40 minutes), and a couple others. im very interested in recording and otherwise being involved in the goings on of this site, but have no idea where to start.

Once again, huge fan of all the amazing runs, and hope to see more in the years to come!
