Fish. Blub blub.
Howdy hey everyone! My name is Chad and I'm kinda new to speedruns, but I do watch them. I recently found out about SDA due to the marathon earlier this year and I finally decided to join in and maybe try a few speedruns if possible!
Hello, I am PAVGN. I'm a big fan of speedruns, but I'm not a speedrunner. I did however make a speedrun for a game that I wanted someone else to do. I made It myself instead, and I hope It gets accepted by you guys.
#Casual
I just wanted to say "hi" to all the newcomers here.  Definitely cool to see new avatars around.  Don't just be lurkers, though!  I used to be among the Lurkers Guild, ha  Smiley
A miserable little pile of secrets.
Hey guys, I'm ApeL (AKA xXApelaumXx in some places). I'm a known Tomb Raider speedrunner out there, and I'm currently doing a Tomb Raider II glitched speedrun.
Thought I'd swing by and say hello. My brother has been on here a while and got me into you guys at the last marathon. I've not stopped checking out runs since so I thought it was about time to join and hopefully contribute Cheesy
Leftward punch go!
Hiya, I go by the moniker Opario. I found out about SDA through TheSpeedGamers, and I've much enjoyed watching the marathons and checking up on runs for the past few years. It's also inspired me to take up some speedrunning of my own, mainly LttP, Phantom Hourglass, KH1 and 2, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus.

Upon discovering that Essentia (another frequenter of TSG) lived in the same state as I do, I made contact with her and attended some of her streams. I've even met up with Denton and one of her daughters in order to hand off a spare Dazzle DVD recorder I had ^^

I'd LOVE to participate in the summer marathon coming up, as I wouldn't even need a bed to stay in and I know of multiple games I could run, but I'd like to make myself a little more well known in the community first. Anyway, I'm glad that this community is here and I hope to see you around.
Howdy, the names Brian Powers or BCPowers. I've always been fascinated by speed runners and been watching alot of speed runs recently. Then I started to notice that all the speedruns I was watching were uploaded by SDA so I checked out more and found out about awesome games done quick. You guys are awesome and hilarious. I would love to be part of this community. New to speed running, but I want to be awesome too. One of my goals in life now is to be a participant in one of your marathons. That would be awesome. Well, I will see you guys around hopefully I can get some games down.
Arrested for felony abuse of emotes
Hiya!  I'm Malia, but I commonly go by Mo since most people tend to mispronounce my name. XD I am 25 and one of those rare breeds of gamers: the female kind.  My boyfriend at the time introduced me to SDA back in 2004-2005ish, when he showed me a Super Mario 64 speedrun, while at college.  Maybe he shouldn't have shown me that, because I quickly became addicted to watching them. XD I live close to Louisville, KY (but not actually in it), and currently work for a certain video game store in the US.

Anyway, since I've found out about the community, I've wanted to do a few speed runs, but either didn't have a recorder, didn't have the time, or it was a DS game.  I tend to prefer RPGs and adventure/action games, like Zelda, Golden Sun, and the Atelier series.  I'll go ahead and admit that I do play WoW (make fun of me, I don't mind Tongue ), but I'm not that hardcore of a player. ^^;

Although I don't expect to speed run anything (at least anytime soon), I wanted to get a bit more involved.  I'd love to help with Verification, but I only have basic knowledge of the current games on the list from my job. >< Maybe, eventually, I'll get a chance to help out more.  In the meantime, I'll start hanging out. ^^

And yes, I use emoticons a lot.  Sorry. ^^; It's better than the ellipses habit I used to have. XD
Hi guys!
I thought maybe it's time I introduce myself now with the marathon coming up and all.

Name's Jonas Martinsson, and I've been going by Hurblat ever since a friend of mine misread "hurlbat" in Diablo II.
Currently I'm taking a Master's in Computer and Information Engineering in Uppsala, Sweden. Originally I'm from a town called Östersund.

I started lurking this place about a year ago, though I found the site around 2007-2008. CGDQ was probably the biggest reason I started getting involved in the community. Around March 2010 I decided I wanted to make a speedrun. After discarding Bubsy as an option, I decided on running Contra III.
I'll have to blame Mike Uyama for inspiring me with his 14:59 and CGDQ runs. The thought of beating a run many considered close to unbeatable was intriguing.

My run was just accepted, which made me really happy Smiley Also I'm going to race Mr. K in Contra III at JRDQ. Exciting!

Besides video games I enjoy listening to most kinds of music. I was the vocalist for a death metal band back in 2005/2006 and our album just came out on iTunes. Making chiptunes is something of a hobby of mine.

That's enough from me I guess. See you around!

Shout-outs to all the Swedes of SDA!
Slow as a turtle.
Yo! I'm ZZKer!
I'm quite new to this place. I saw the Awesome Games Done Quick back in January and am currently watching Japan Relief Done Quick. I really like what you guys do.

I'm looking into speed running some Genesis games that I have played since I was a kid. I just need to secure some equipment to do so.
Some of the other games that I hope I someday have the time and equipment to speed run: Cool Spot, Killer7, Beyond Good and Evil, extreme sport games, Sonic 2D games

I hope I can help out here and not take up too much space ;P
Hey guys

I've been watching the Japan Relief done quick, and this place seems like a pretty awesome place to be. I've sped run the basics, LTTP SMW, SMB3, stuff like that... I've also done Soul Blazer and Megaman X. No recordings so far.

I'm really interested in recording an "Alphabetical" run of Link to the past, where I beat all the bosses in alphabetical order(spare Gannon and Aginahm[sp?]) if anyone would be interested in that.

I'm not the most hardcore runner, but I love to have fun, and if the chat for JRDQ is any indication of this place, I think it'll be gold.
1-Up!

While this wouldn't be an accepted category here, I'm sure people would be interested enough to discuss strats and watch any videos you make.
Hiya.

Yep, I'm the guy who started that Teedash/Rane bidding war for the SMRPG file name. I've enjoyed the hell out of the marathon and figured I'd pop in here to see what you guys do on a regular basis.

I am pretty crap at playing games with any sense of efficiency or urgency, and am generally middling at anything that isn't a rhythm game, so I'm probably not going to attempt a run of my own anytime soon, but watching others' is more than entertaining enough.
Haters gonna hate
Hi everyone!

My name is Todd, I'm 24, and after promising myself I would finally register after the last marathon, I finally registered. I have lurked around this site ever since I saw the famous Metroid Prime 100% 1:30 speedrun many years back, and I have posted for a short amount of time at Metroid 2002.

I have been playing video games ever since I have been able to walk (maybe even when I was able to crawl). I am also an avid video game collector, owning about 800 games, last I counted (which has been a few months ago). I also play just about anything you can think of, from Atari to Xbox 360. I have taken up an interest in Xbox 360 after I saw their Live Arcade marketplace and all the classic and new games they have on there. Shortly after that, a friend of mine got me into the very addicting achievement system. For a while, I was playing games just to get some easy achievements, but after a while of doing that, I realized that playing just for achievement points is stupid, so now I play more for completion and the satisfaction I get because of that. So far, I have completed (gotten all the achievements) in about 110 XBLA and most of those are really tough ones (Hard Corps Uprising being one of my proudest completions).

After watching 98% of the JRDQ marathon and sleeping during the rest, I am more enticed to breaking away from my achievement hunting mold and get into the business of doing speedruns. I'm not sure what game I would like to do, but figure since I have a lot of experience in XBLA games, I'll start there. I'm thinking of starting with Hard Corps Uprising, doing arcade mode and working on Castlevania HD some more, since farming items also helps get better completion times.

Strange, isn't it?
Greetings SDA! I am Yoshimi (or Yosh for short) and I've been viewing the sites runs for a few years now. I forget how long exactly, but I do know that I might have found it just by hopping around online different sites and suddenly ending up here. What a fantastic place to head to every so often, lots of awesome runs and very interesting runners as well. ^^ I really enjoyed the recent marathons (shame I couldn't donate...I plan to eventually), I at least try to show my support and watched as many runs as I could before passing out.

Just a little about me for the record: My actual name is Michael (...common name, I know), but I go by the name of Yoshimi online. I'm in my 20s, I enjoy the many aspects of games (classic and modern), and I'm a budding collector of older games. I don't consider myself "runner" material, as I lack recording devices and general knowledge of improvements for speeding through a game, that doesn't mean I love to see if I can best myself at something I've done before with prior knowledge of the game I've played. I do enjoy learning about new things and little bits of trivia about anything I've encountered before but never bothered to look into, I feel that it's always nice when you can learn a thing or two from other people.

Looking forward to seeing a lot more around here, be it more runs or marathons. This site is awesome, and runners here rock!
Hey all, long time lurker, first time signer-upper :-) decided to finally register after watching the JRDQ marathon (which was fantastic btw! highlights being mario galaxy, mega man x2 and dr mario 64 for lolz Cheesy )

Not really ever speedrun a game other than going for the excalibur2  for FF9 (which was fun, admittedly), more into casual runs and just enjoying what's on offer around here.

Pleasure to meet you all anyway ^_^
Hello everyone my name is chris. I've lurked on this site for a while now. Pretty impressed with the runs you've done on  here. Had fun watching the JRDQ runs as well. I'm also the same agentchris that was chatting with all of you the past couple of days lol. Ever since i've seen speed run videos i wanted to try it myself but because of work and school haven't really had time too. Maybe during the summer I could pick up a game and start. Other than that love to play video games even though I don't play them as much as I used too. Also live in texas and uh that's about it Cheesy

Hello all. I am MistMage (Doomside in some places). I've been lurking on the site for quite a while (at least since the end of 2005 which is the earliest dating for the runs on my HD, Scott Kesslers Bionic Commando 18:20 run by the way) but I finally decided to sign up after JRDQ, though I've been thinking of it for a long time.

I've been considering trying to speedrun some games before (like Star Control 2 or Uforia) but have never actually gotten around to trying it so I don't know if it would suit me or not. You'll hear about it if I do though.

Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet y'all Smiley

YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
Please do so. Although personally I think speedrunning this game will be a pain in the ass and be 100% different then what it would be if you would play it normally.

also, hi!
Hey all. My name is Andreas. I'm 22 years old and I'm from Germany.
I've been visiting SDA for a pretty long time. I can't remember the exact date but I found it through the video "Quake redone quick" which I really enjoyed. Sadly I only recently realized(by watching the marathons in January and April) that there is an awesome community behind all the runs I watched so often.

I've been a PC gamer all my life but that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy the runs on the consoles. I'm thinking about starting some runs myself or at least make contributions where I can.

You guys have a great day and I hope to become a productive member.

Hey there ladies and gentlemen, kids of all ages:

I'm Terror Van, i'm 22 and i'm from Newfoundland, Canada. A pretty quiet little out-of-the-way sort of place.

It took me a while to realize the community behind the speedruns is something I wanted to be a part of, and hopefully i'll stick around for a while. And in case someone reading this is wondering, I am the same Terror Van that you need on Something Awful and in various games online; Team Fortress 2 being the most likely place to find me.

As for speedrunning, i've never been more than a casual gamer so my skills are a little bit lacking in general, but i've been trying to get better and someday I hope to have at least one published run of something.

difficult and stupidly random
It is great to see so many new people in the community.  There always seems to be an influx after we do a big event, though this may just be my imagination.
It would be interesting to know how new people found out about SDA in the first place.  For example:
* Saw a marathon
* Saw videos on youtube that came from SDA
* Read an article
* Heard about it through other gaming forums
* Google search

I'm curious to know what kinds of publicity we are getting, and what tends to be effective.
from PAListan
Hello

I'm exe from Dortmund (Germany) and I'm 21 years old.
I played Fighting Games since 2007 (Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, Arcana Heart and Tekken) very intensive and now switched to the Speedrun scene. Besides of this, I also play Cave Shoot'em ups, as you could see on my Avatars.
My currently runs are SM64 1-Star PAL (on N64) and Biohazard 2 Leon A (PS1, but this run is only for casual). After this I plan to run Zelda OoT PAL (maybe RBA).
I've little problems with the english languages, but i hope that i can improve this too in this scene ^^

many greetings from Germany
