Hello all! Im Etsaru, or Ets for short, ive been gaming for the better part of Twenty years and am trying to work my way into speed running RPGs/platformers/puzzle games etc.  I have also been toying around with the idea of a ME3 speed run but then I remember magic space lazors and something else seems like a better use of my time.
Lets try it
Hi everybody Im MerryGinal or just Merry. Im in love with video games since I was young and many years before I heard about speed run and gess what ? Im falling in love with this too ! I try to find the perfect game for me to run but there is so many that I like but i will never do because I dont want to hate this game later haha. Im a huge fan of H&S and FPS games, trying to play as hardcore as possible.  And Im french recently moved to Canada and I learn english alone with forums and games so sorry for my lack of english sometimes !
Hello everyone! I'm Kuchiri, I've been Let's Playing for a little over six years now and I've been watching the SDA Marathons for the past two years.

I've been wanting to get into Speed Running for a while now and eventually I would love to show up at a marathon and play a game.
tehchuckelator (real name Chuck) here (some may recognize me from lurking/chatting on your twitch streams) I'm mostly a casual gamer, but been toying with the idea of speed running a few games (Zelda 2, Friday the 13th, and Inindo-Way of the Ninja)

Hi guys!

Hi folks, my names JR, ive been watching speedruns on twitch for time, im more of a lurker on chat though as im no expert, but I recently decided im going to give it a go, dont anticipate and amazing records or anything but im mainly running Kabuki Quantum Fighters on stream and toying with the idea of something bigger like a Saints Row games or Sleeping Dogs, we shall see. Currently running Kabuki at 14:34 PB, and thats down from like 30 minutes in 4 days lol.

Thanks for having me Smiley
Hey everyone. I'm Viiman and I had the idea of speedrunning after seeing all the awesome people at AGDQ 2014 demolish games. And as there are just a few Lufia 2 runners out there and it is one of my most favorite games, I decided to speedrun it. The game may be a relatively long speedrun (sub 4 hours is possible), but it is fun for me. Also, huge thanks to HappySquid89 (currently the best Lufia 2 speedrunner) for giving me his notes, so I could start speedrunning the game!
What's up everybody. I'm Nick, and like ViiMan before me I've been watching speedruns since AGDQ 2014. Mostly RPG runs, like FF4, 6 and CT, but some streamers like Broman I'll watch any game he plays. I'm learning FF4, and I'd like to learn FF6 since it's my favorite FF, but the whole JD/RJD deal is a little intimidating. Nice to meet (kind of) you all!
Hey guys, I'm Issen (or Orin if you prefer, since that's my real name).
I'm from Brisbane, Australia, and I'm primarily a fighting game player, having been involved in my FGC for the better part of 2 or so years.
AGDQ 2014 was my first time catching a stream, and it was pretty inspirational for me, seeing a bunch of people using their love of video games to raise over $1 million for cancer research. I'd been considering speedrunning for a while before then, but AGDQ this year really set it in stone for me, and it really made me want to get involved in this community.

Now, with the sap story aside, I'm focusing on learning Disney's Hercules for PSX, and after that I'm considering either Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker or Courier Crisis (both for PSX), since I seem to have a penchant for bad video games and I'd like to run at least one game for AwfulGDQ if I can make it to AGDQ one year. Until then, time to hit the lab Tongue
Hi everyone, im Woolrick from France. I've been watching speedruns since 4 years now i think and i make some speedrun too (secret of mana, suikoden and Yoshi news island)

Nice to meet you everyone.
Speed Running in Robotnik's Basement
...Hi. I'm Misty. I am known in many places as ShinyMisty.

About a week ago, I didn't care about this type of things. But thanks to Werster and his Pokemon Speedruns, I learned about SDA. I have been filling my WHOLE days since then watching speed runs of Zelda, Banjo, Mario, and Pokemon.

Then it hit me. "I can try Speed Running" I have the time, and I love to learn.
I am right now interested in speed running my favorite games (Okami or Okamiden) I just need the ability to record my game play. ;-; Why are things so costly.

I have looked everywhere for tips on Okamiden, but I have found nothing yet. I hope this isn't a bad sign.
What is up fellow everyone! I'm Takeshi, real name Richard. I've watched runs for far too long now (6-ish years?) to not do any myself. I plan to focus mostly on short, difficult action games like Contra. Conquering those kind of games just too fun. My first goal is Contra: Hard Corps low%.
Besides speed running:

-I am training to become a Japanese translator. Anyone who wants something translated can shoot me a PM. (It's free!)
-I am learning how to program; I plan to do a few programs for live streaming.
Hi, I'm Tortus, but since Tortus was taken on Twitch and I hate compromising on my name I decided to rebrand as the Casual Scrub since that pretty much defines my play style.

I started off watching speedruns by Cosmo, EnNopp and other Zelda speedrunners, but gradually expanded my watching to other runners of games that I've played and loved. I've learnt the Ocarina Any% route, as well as MST and Majora's Mask any% pre wraong soaring, but never really finished a run due to lack of practice and generally scrubness. Recently however, I started running Guacamelee 100% after falling in love with the game during my first playthrough and have now got my time down to sub 2 hours using a route of my own devising. I'll be able to start streaming my attempts in April, but until then nice to meet you all and I'm glad to finally be able to call myself a speedrunner.
Anime Freak
Hey, Michael here from Brisbane. Pretty new to speed running in general, first thing I watched was the ADGQ earlier this year which got my attention for the entire time. Just very recently started to run Spyro 1 any% just to see if I like it, and it's pretty damn enjoyable haha. I try to watch as many speed runners as I can with my favourites being Bonesaw and Probro. I don't stream as of yet because shitty computer and I have still yet to finish routing spyro, but hopefully soon. Smiley
Hello! I realize Aurimous might be a little odd to try and pronounce, so just call me Arctic, or Tim, Tim is also something people tend to call me. Birth names and all that. I've known about SDA's existence for a couple of years ever since I became interested in running Symphony of the Night, but that's about as much as I've used it for until recent weeks. I've gotten really interested in speed running since then and have picked it up mainly as a way to re-experience some of my favorite games. My main project right now is Castlevania: Circle of the Moon Vampire Killer and Shooter modes, and most recently I've started working on Dust: An Elysian Tail. I guess my main focus in general is Metroid=Vania style games, with SoTN being the first game I ever put serious effort into trying to run.

Aside from gaming, I love writing and story-telling. I plan to go to school in the coming months for Medical Laboratory Techinology, and in the meantime, I do whatever I can to get by. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know other members of the SDA community, and even hope to make a few friends here and there. Until then, take care!
Hello, this is BeeBee from Finland. Somewhere known as Icez, but been using BeeBee in online games since my first one (Quake 3 arena) back in 2000, and will use it in here too.
I found agdq (and sgdq) marathons from youtube about year and half ago and been hooked ever since. Just seeing all the tricks done, and some of my favorite games played so quickly, I can't stop watching them anymore.

Those videos was the thing that got me thinking if there was some game I would be able to run quickly and there was. One of my favorite game from my childhood is Ghostbusters on genesis (i got mega drive 2). I have practiced it for sometime now, and i'm making very good progress (comparing myself to few tas runs done with emulators in youtube). So you will be hearing from me soon, when i get bit more practice done!

I have seen and heard how good this community is, and i hope i will be good add for its rosters. See you soon!
Lookin for that game
Yo, I'm Raikaria.

I've been mildly interested in speedrunning for about a year and a half, watching the big events like AGDQ and SGDQ. I also know a few speedrunners.

Anyway, I'm in the process of looking for that game I want to speedrun, but I am interested in finding something to speedrun.
Hey, I'm epoch.
I'm a musician as my main hobby/ income/ academic interest.
I haven't been on an active forum for quite a few years, since the ones I frequented mostly died when Facebook started getting bigger.
But I'm really interested in getting into speed running, although I'm not too skilled at any game, I figure I'll just give it a go.

I first got interested a few years ago when "the speed gamers" had just started, idk if anyone knows them or if they're still popular, but I stayed up several nights watching them play whatever marathon they were playing and was always so excited when the next one was coming up.
After a while I lost interest, but was recently rekindled by the Something Awful races on youtube, which led to me discovering SDA through recommended videos.

After watching quite a few of your runs over the past couple of months I really feel inspired to start getting into this.
Hey, wzl here.

I found A/SGDQ a couple weeks ago and got sort of hooked to speedrunning since. I started running Terranigma and i'm trying to pick up a few others for racing on SRL (lttp MasterSword for one).
A few days ago i started routing Breath of Fire 4 and will hopefully be able to run it at a decent time sometime soon Cheesy

If you'd like to check the progress on that you can check my twitch
Hello everyone at SDA,

My name is Thomas, or you can call me FFR Pro 21. I've been an active member of the FlashFlashRevolution community for almost 5 years now and am still active on the site to this day. I found an event on the web called Awesome Games Done Quick 2013, and as I was watching, my first thought was, "Oh man, this is so awesome! A speedrunning marathon to help raise money for cancer research! I wanna participate in one of these kinds of events one day! :D" And so it was AGDQ 2013 that set off a spark in me to start speedrunning my favourite games.

The games that I have so far speedran are Pokemon Puzzle League, Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, and Tetris Worlds. I do plan on moving on to other games to start speedrunning as well, so hopefully after a little while I'll have built up a little speedrunning arsenal of my own.

I look forward to being a long-time active member of the speedrunning community, and hopefully get to meet some other awesome people.

Cheers,

Vaporeon~ Smiley
Hello all! My name is Joe Bernier, and I'm a member of the Mario Kart community and was just recently introduced to speedrunning and this community. I've been speedrunning more and more games other than Super Mario Kart, and I hope to have a great time interacting with fellow speedrunners over here.

Metroid 2 Ho!
Hey there guys, Patrick from Michigan here. I'm a 16 year old junior in high school, who loves composing and playing video games. My dream is to one day compose for video games, and as such I'm learning piano. I found out about SDA years ago through SRL, and have just kinda hung around without registering. I run Metroid 2: Return of Samus 100%, with my current pb of 1:12:10 less than 10 minutes off of EmptyEyes world record. I'm also learning Super Mario 64 as a side game.
Wario and Waluigi time!!!
Hello everyone, I am FurbyTehGamer, but you can call meh Furby, and I am not epic, I am a NO_oB (Lol it's a little thing or game my epic friends do, thus I deny my epicness at all costs ;3) I am mainly a Mario Kart Wii FTL (For The Lose/Lulz) hacker, but sadly Nintendo is shutting down WiFi for the Wii and DS on May 20th :c

Anywho, I play Eversion and I do speed runs of that game, and I also do some fun with the everting glitch that was found in a TAS c;
Leader of Starbirdia!
Greetings all, I am MrStarbird. I am a Fantasy Author from Maine and a game enthusiast and collector. I have been inspired by all the great speedruns on this website as well as all the amazing things I have seen at AGDQ and SGDQ that I have decided to throw my hand into the speedrunning ring. I have long been a Genesis fanatic and am sad to see that some of my favorite games have not been officially recorded for runs.
What's up guys i'm gnaughtygnorc, I'm just getting into speedrunning, i've never done it before but would love to get into it, i was wondering, for a beginner what would be an ideal game for me to first try speedrunning? thanks guys, i look forward to getting into speedrunning and maybe posting some of my runs
