Hello! I go by CapnClever. My first experience with SDA was through AGDQ 2013. I was aware of TASVideos years before and, indirectly, the speedrunning community, but hadn't kept track of it until that event. It wasn't until this year, however, that I was inspired to start running myself. I'm on Twitch with this same name.

That said, I've been running Commander Keen games for about two months solid. Much of the routing already existed with help from the TASes of the games and Xarthok's recordings (primarily him but also from other sources like Cosmo, CaneCraft, Tl_plexa, roehoer, and Ma5terViking), so most of what I've done is optimize and attempt like crazy. If you're ever interested in Commander Keen running at all, lemme know and I'd be more than happy to discuss with anyone!

Also if you want to see some decent runs I've already picked up, you can find recordings on my YT account linked here. As far as I know, I currently hold records for Keens 2, 5, and 6 (with sound, that's important) in any%, as well as Keen5 glitchless, and am tied for Keen3 any%. However there could be runs I haven't found yet so I'm be greatly interested in finding other runners from games of the series.
Greetings! My nick is Lord Graywords, but you can call me Gray for short. I'm a bit of old geezer (32) from Spain. I'm the main FGC streamer here in my country (in the MotokenTeam handle), but some FGC friends told me about the speedrunning community. Been a lurker here and there but finally decided to step up.

I have a severe lack of consoles except for PS3, so I'm gonna start with some RPGs and JRPGs (Okami and perhaps, PERHAPS, Atelier series on ps3). Nostalgia feels makes me also susceptible to try other games as Sonic 1 - 2 on SMS and Castle/Land of Illusion, but still unsure about them.

Nice to meet you all! Cheesy
Running on PAL 'cuz poor
Hey guys!

I'm going to start doing some N64 runs but I have an Aus/Pal system so I'll proberly use a PC with controller addaptor.

I've been loving the AGDQs, me and my younger sister watch them all on youtube.

Cheers, Sam.
Well, I just started watching Speed Runs and I started wanting to try and speed run games to help other people. I also wanted to find some help for Twitch because I always ran into problems using the free stuff, which isn't the only reason I'm here. I've been introduced to Speed Runs by a friend of mine who loved watching SDA wreck his favorite games. Now I've been watching them non-stop and I want to at least do my best with these games and get into it other than just casual play over my Youtube channel.

The consoles I have are only a Wii and I count my laptop I use as a PC, but the only thing I have is Minecraft, which I do want to speed run one day once I get used to RNG on items and such.
Been watching speed runs and TASes for years now, decided to join in the conversation here, see if I can't get some tips on playing some of my old faves. I hope to do a couple real speedruns and submit them at some point, but will need to hunt down some hardware first, as my best games are all GBA titles.

Carpe noctem.
Gotta go (Moderately) Fast
I've been watching speed runs almost every day for the past year and have really enjoyed them. Would like learning some games and casual races would seem fun. Don't have the internet speed to stream yet though so that will have till I move out of the boonies. Interested in learning all sorts of games.

Whoa!

The name is Trifin. Been watching you guys do speed runs for a while now and thought I'd finally join the community.
I want to try my hand at speed runs eventually, maybe starting with the easiest challenge that is Mega Man X. I would need to gather up my SNES though.

Ijust got back from Japan a short while ago, was teaching English, and I've been working on becoming a teacher in the States. Once I get that all sorted, I'll start doing little speedrun tests in my spare time. :]
Gotta Go Fast!
I'm Pro Phantom I play some games fast. Nice to meet youthumbsup
To see, one must be able to see.
Greetings everyone!  Long time fan of SDA and finally decided to join the forums as I have dreams of attending one of the marathons someday and have been honing my skills at a few select games.

I am mostly a retro style gamer, 2nd-3rd Generation.  I enjoy strategy role play games like Fire Emblem or Advance Wars, but seem to have a very diverse taste for most all games.  As for elitist status, the games I may one day be able to run are limited to SimCity (SNES), Final Fantasy Legend I and II (GB), and The Legend of Zelda (NES).  The latter of which I have been practicing to dethrone the current best single segment time of 31:39 by Darkwing Duck.

Looking forward to interaction and becoming an official member of the SDA community!

Hello all!  I've been enough of a lurker for the last several months that I figured I'd join and try to have a bit of a presence!

I've known about SDA since about 2008.  I thought the speed runs were pretty sweet, and tried a few Super Metroid ones myself.  It wasn't til last fall that I discovered the AGDQ 2013 videos that I really got hooked.  I've pretty much been watching stuff daily since then, and have really been interested in getting going with it myself!  I'm a 28 year old husband and father of two (almost three!) who works as a Software Engineer for my day job, so the idea of finding a community of other folks who love games as much as I do excites me a great deal!

I'm mostly into older games (NES-N64 era) - Final Fantasy, Mega Man, DKC, Zelda, and all the Mario games represent my favorite series.  I've started doing some attempts at Super Metroid again, and my goal is to get that time under an hour.  I'm also considering getting into running DKC 2 - probably at 102%, since it doesn't seem like anyone is really doing that too much.  I did an FF9 Excalibur 2 Perfect Game run last spring, and that was probably one of the most entertaining things I've done in video games in a really long time.  I'm not sure yet how I'll try to share things - whether just on YouTube or if I'll start a twitch stream - any advice is appreciated.  I'm hoping I'll be able to attend SGDQ this year, as I live in the Denver area.

Looks like I'm not the only one joining up now with some since there's a lot of hype with the marathons - so welcome to all my other new members!
Ruling the cosmos!
So I'm Copilot, 17 year old speedrunner from Texas. I started speedrunning about 3 or 4 months ago, currently knowing Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow any% and Streemerz, and I'm learning Mega Man 3. I got into the speedrunning community when I saw some of the runs near the end of SGDQ 2013, and I started following a few of the runners I saw there and only got more and more interested in it over time.

For my more personal life, I'm still attending high school and living with my parents, and I plan to attend college later and major in music education. I've been playing video games just about since I could hold a controller, growing up on a Sega Genesis and a SNES emulator.

That's about all I can say, really. Message me here if you wanna talk about something, that'd be cool, and I'd love to meet more people and make some friends in the speedrunning community. I love you all, this is an amazing community that we have.
Concussed runs anyone?
Hey! I am Brexx, I'm from British Columbia Canada. And i started learning Final Fantasy IX Single segment after watching Puwexil run it in his lucky seven follower stream, i am still learning it as its an extensive game. But a game to be run is a game to be had, also. I got a concussion yesterday. and during my time at home i practiced disc one, so concussed runs here I come!

I have had a stream setup for a long time, but never got around to doing anything with it for awhile. But now that my new capture card came, i am back in the saddle.

For my life outside of video games. I am attending school. I play rugby and i mountain bike.

oh. and i also am part of a multitude of choirs.

maybe if you are lucky and you ever catch me streaming maybe i will sing or play guitar or something for you. Smiley

Thanks for listening!

Hi everyone

I speed run Star Fox SNES
Hi SDA. I'm musical_daredevil and I live in the DC area. I've been following SDA runs for a few years now, but got really interested in joining as a result of AGDQ 2014. I really like watching games get completely destroyed (either through glitches or corruption) and I figured I might as well join in the fun.

I'm mostly looking to do any% runs of the Elder Scrolls series, especially Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. I've had plenty of fun breaking them wide open while playing slowly, now it's time to speed things up a bit.
I'm also thinking about the Mass Effect series as a result of the AGDQ 2013 run.

On the side, I do some video game development as part of a yearly summer gamedev competition and as a bit of side research into architectural visualization as part of my job. Most of it involves importing architectural/building models into Unity3D, although I might look into using UDK in the near future.
Hello Everyone !

My name is Ronan, AKA RealMyop. I'm a french video maker working mostly on speedruns and TAS for almost 4 years now. My show have only been in French and I was wondering when someone would make it in English, but even after this long wait it seems that nobody is interested in making it, so I decided to finally (and with my wonderful french accent) make it myself in English.
The idea is really simple, as you know speed-running is a great thing but it can be hard to understand or follow if you don't know the tricks, glitches, skip etc.. of a particular game. The show is providing this information you need to enjoy the run and understand how all the incredible things you see can be made. The show is also trying to talk about the game itself, from time to time in a run there is not that much to say and you can talk about the game itself, the story, funny trivias, analysis of the gameplay etc... Most of the time Speed-runners have a lot to say about the game they run.

Here the link for the youtube channel in english: https://www.youtube.com/user/le88mph
If you want you can also check the french version here: https://www.youtube.com/user/realmyop

I'll hope you'll be a part of this project:)

Thanks for reading me, hope to talk to you soon.
Hi! I'm Xander, also known practically everywhere as DreamHazard (all one word, it turns out that if you spell it with two words it's the name of an animated pornographic film, and it's too late for me to change my name since people have come to recognise it. Oh well).

I'm a web developer, and I've been interested in games since I was very young, 25 now so that's a fair while in terms of gaming generations. I started off on a ZX Spectrum +2, wrote my first program in BASIC at the age of 3, and haven't really looked back. I came across SDA when I saw a friend posting AGDQ videos on facebook, and after seeing a Borderlands 2 speedrun I decided I wanted in. I went to check out ProfessorBroman's videos and found him running a live stream, he and his viewers were very welcoming so I figured this would be a good community to get into Smiley

I've never attempted a speedrun before but I've been gaming for a long time so I may make some attempts in the future, only time will tell ^_^
Hi @ all,

i am Nicky from Germany. I watch Speedruns sind 12 Years or longer and made some Speedruns for Resident Evil 2 - and now i will try to record some of them Smiley

Do it right, or don't do it at all.
Hi there.  My name is Morrigan (it's my middle name, but I like it better, so that's what you all get).  I recently found AGDQ on YouTube and have been HOOKED.  I love games, especially NES/SNES games as I grew up with them, and I was pretty darn good at them as well.  Sure, AGDQ led me here, but after lurking here for a bit I realized how much I feel like I fit here.  I'm gonna start speedrunning some of my favorite games, and perhaps maybe I could hop onto AGDQ or SGDQ in the future!  I'd love to help out for a good cause, and I'm sure the marathons could use a bit of feminine charm, no?  Cheesy

So, I guess it's time for me to pick up that NES controller, make a twitch account, and start pushin' buttons.

First order of business:  Map out everything in The Guardian Legend.  XD

Hi SDA!

I'm Eric, and I've been following SDA for a long time, since at least 2005, brought here by my interest in speedruns of Metroid games.  While I've watched a lot of people play I never really got into it myself.  AGDQ 2014 finally convinced me to try my hand at running games.  I'll pretty much just be a casual, but I plan to stream and play, and to be a part of the speedrunning community.

I'm starting with the original Mega Man.  I'm having to force myself to stick with one game at a time so I don't give up easily, but I have lots of plans.
Hello, I'm Allen.

I've been a fan of speedrunning for about 4 years and tried to speedrun some games here and there, but I've never tried to join any community. I'm a bit of a cronic lurker (but trying to get better) so if I appear cold or stand-offish please don't be offended.

Games that I'm interested in speedrunning are Metroid (Prime, Super, all of them), Sonic (Shadow, Sonic 2,3,K, and maybe Adventure 2) and others. I guess I'll start with prime, although it looks like Miles has pushed that game to it's limit, but It's still one of my favorite games so I'm going to learn how to run it anyway. See you around.

Hello all! I'm stealinbread, or toasty if you prefer shorter names. I've posted in some other threads but I guess I should properly introduce myself.

I'm from Jackson, Mississippi. Currently living in East Tennessee, attending University and working on a Computer Science degree. I love RPGs, and metroid/castlevania style games. Zelda is fun too.

So, I found out about this place through a convention called GMX last year, in which this really chill dude (whose name escapes me at the moment, but I know he browses this forum) hosted a speedrunning panel. I knew speedrunning existed, but had no interest in it. Obviously the panel convinced me otherwise.

After that, I visited this place, and started lurking. I caught word of AGDQ, and started watching some of the runs on youtube. One run in particular, Mofat's Twilight Princess at SGDQ 2013, got me hooked. Not only was it entertaining to watch, it was also thoroughly hilarious. Having Seen the good times everyone had, and watching all the crazy skips in the game, and seeing how amazing the community is.... it made me want to start running games myself! And so I did.

Currently I'm running Final Fantasy VIII and IX, and I stream sometimes. Smiley
DO THE MEATEO
Hi, I'm the_roth from South Australia. Have been speedrunning Final Fantasy IV diehard% for about 2 months now and thoroughly enjoying it! I managed to get a really good time lately (held the WR for 3 days) and about to start learning the Zelda: aLttP run, but will also help nocashnocash improve the FF4 run for the time being.

I'm currently doing a PhD in astrophysics and have almost finished, so running games keeps me only slightly insane Smiley

The first run I saw on SDA was Metal Gear Solid 3 and have never looked back!
Hey guys I'm Tyler Long Aka Miridia. Call me Miri for short.

I'm used to be a competitive League of Legends player (was in challenger in season 3) but I've since quit and started to speedrun. I'm now thinking about what games I want to play, and I must say that Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is on my list.

As for hobbies? Well, I'm a gamer of course :3 I also really enjoy reading fantasy books and long walks on the beach. Even though I live in Ohio.

I've lurked here since like 2009-10, but I just made an account 3 days ago (lol). I love this place. You guys rock. :v

Oh here's my new stream. I made a new one since I quit league and wanted to start fresh, since then I've gained around 100 followers in about a month. Come stop by if you'd like! Cheesy

Dude, challenger in league is pretty legit! I also quit that game, I can't stand it after 3 years.
