Hey all, I mostly run the classics (NES style). I've only been running since March but I've been as active as my schedule allows. My most recent game of choice is Zelda 1. Hope to become more active in the community
Hi SDA! I've been watching *GDQs for a couple of years now and I speedrun a game called "Jumpman" (a 2009 indie game, not the original that you're probably thinking of). After the awesomeness of AGDQ 2014 I'm motivated to actually submit a run.
I'm currently a graduate student in computer science, and I play mostly PC games.
Sup SDA. I'm Kusariku, and I've been gaming for a long time. I've always been pretty good at games but it wasn't until recently that I really considered the idea of actually running anything for speed. I guess at the moment I'm working on learning to run DuckTales HD, though I will probably end up learning to run the classic megaman games and the battle network series sometime soon too. I also want to look into the old genesis game Quackshot.
Anyways, it's nice to meet everyone, I'll try to be as active as I can so I'm sure you'll be seeing me around
Hey SDA, After watching AGDQ 2013 And SGDQ 2013 on youtube I really wanted to tune into AGDQ 2014 and can I just say it was phenomenal. I run Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012 Any% which can take anywhere from 3:30.00 to 4 and a half hours depending on the traffic and collisions. i have found multiple categories for the game since there is dlc. currently i am just enjoying my life being a gamer
Hello everyone, after watching SGDQ 2013 and this years AGDQ, I have become very interested in speed running and think the community here is awesome. I am currently practicing Custom Robo for the Gamecube and was wondering if anybody would be interested in me attempting a full any% run of The New Journey Campaign.
Hi. I'm Alex from Sweden. I luv me sum games. I've been going to SDA since like 2007 or so and watching speedruns, and seen agdq and sgdq last year and agdq this year so I felt it was time to sign up.
I just came to the realization, that I have not posted in this thread yet. I'm going to rectify this now. I'm Deepfreeze, I started speedrunning a few years ago, but didn't really take it seriously at all, until just a wee bit before AGDQ 2013, which inspired me to step it up, and run Alex Kidd in Shinobi World seriously. I namely run that, and some other SMS games, namely Castle of Illusion, though I haven't started working on that one that heavily yet. I also intend on starting to Speedrun a horrible monstrosity known as Harry's Legend.
Hello. Im Thomas from New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. I usually go by Xearu. Im completely new to speedruns and somehow stumbled upon AdamAKs SGDQ 2013 run of GTA Vice City which sparked my interest and then many other SDA runs via YouTube. Im not new to forms of "challenge" gaming by any means. I have always done personal challenge runs of many games old and new, most recently a solo character play through of Star Ocean: The Second Story. Im mostly a PC gamer but I do deviate to consoles (both modern and classic) when something happens to spark my interest. I would love to become a more active part of this close-knit community but I just have no idea where to get started.
PS: Being sick during AGDQ 2014 was both a curse and a blessing as I was able to watch most of the stream in bed rather than being at work.
Hey SDA, I'm Peter, and I've had a small to mild interest in speedrunning for some years now. It wasn't until early summer, last year, when a friend had showed me Cosmo's 23min run of OoT at AGDQ2013 and as soon as Cosmo says "So now Ganondorf is dead..." "WTF WAS THAT?! HOLY BALLS!!!" I lost it right there and realized I was missing something great. Lately, I've been practicing (read: failing miserably) Super Metroid and have a mild interest of playing Castlevania: SotN more seriously and Castlevania 64. I'll try not to lurk too much and I hope to learn a lot from you all.
Greetings everyone, I'm Richard from the wonderful land of potatoes that is Idaho. I knew about speedrunning for awhile and was always kind fascinated by it, but after seeing how great the community is from the marathons I thought I'd give it a go. Currently messing about with Suikoden any% and Silent Bomber and having a lot of fun with it
I'm James, or Shawman, and only recently discovered speed running last month through AGDQ on youtube. Since then I have watched dozens of speed runs and have been throughly entertained, especially with good commentary and incredible tricks and breakage of my favourite childhood games. I would love to get involved with speed running but don't feel like I know where to start. There are lots of games I play but it seems futile to try going against the people here at SDA with such impressive times of their runs. Like I could probably find a game I would be interested in running but would I need to either beat or come close to the current time for submission? I would like to be able to submit a less then spectacular first run that I may put a large amount of effort in to get feedback and support on my process, recording, possible commentary, stream setup, etc. How might I go about doing this. Where should I start? I don't know if I will get a reply to this but I would love to know more from current members willing to help a truely fascinated newbie looking to get involved. For now I will be browsing the forums and will continue watching the many runs I have missed over various _GDQ runs, as I very uch enjoy the webcam/commentary provided with it.
Great job to everyon who put on the AGDQ event - it continues to be spectacular and hopefully I can be a part of this community soon.
Hi all, I have watched speed running in the past, especially the old Quake runs and watched a lot of AGDQ 14 this past week also congratulations on the donations! Although I currently do not attempt speed runs, this has piqued my interest. Currently, I game FPS, RPG on the PC, and still dabble with old classic console games via emulator. Would be interested in helping out maybe at the next event or at least get involved somehow. Anyway looking forward to seeing more awesome runs!
Hello everyone. GlassOfJustice is the name, but I also roll with Chad. I watched most of AGDQs/SGDQs from previous years and decided to join the awesome community. My favorite game to run is Donkey Kong 64, but I always enjoy watching and learning most other games.
I've been lurking this site a least over a decade. I remember downloading high or low quality videos here back then. You guys have grown a lot since then. After the huge success you guys did with raising over 1 Million Dollars, I've decided to rise up and start speed running. I have a choice between ALttP or Super Metroid for my first game to speed run it. After seeing 4 way race Super Metroid, I've decided to speed run it. ALttP will be my second game to speed run later in the future once I get really good at Super Metroid.
Welcome to all our newcomers! Hope you all enjoy the stay here! For all those coming from seeing AGDQ, pull up a chair and enjoy some of the fine streams this site gives way to and maybe even join on in the fun!
Always awesome to see fresh blood! So much potential! So much awesomeness! So many games... so little time!
I'm a huge Resi fan and have recently got into speed running them - starting with Resi 2 Leon A - but I love watching any high-q speedruns.
On a side-note, I'm a professional Japanese translator, so if any of you guys want any game-text translating into Japanese for free (as long as it's not an entire game!) then let me know
I have been running some console games to myself for a while now and am just getting into the PC speedrunning scene now. So far I'm sticking with Borderlands 2 until I meet my goal, but I'll be branching out after that.
Im a new speedrunner but i have been watching speedruns for years. The game that got me into speedrunning was actually Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I love watching agdq and loved you guys since 2004. I mainly speedrun GTA 3 and vice city. Trust me when i tell you though, i am no AdamAK. I can't wait until AGDQ 2015 to run GTA 3. Let me leave you with a good day and #2millionHYPE
Hello everyone Finally decided to make an account here after years of lurking. I go by Sicks, my name on Twitch is Sicksplays. I run mostly PC games such as Mirror's Edge, a little Super Meat Boy, Evoland, and most recently Nidhogg (which is the game that finally made me want to make an account here). I love casually playing Lttp and also Yoshi's Island on my Snes. I also play some fighting games suchs as Super Smash (Any of them) and Street Fighter (Pretty much any of them).
I'm abiscuit. Altabiscuit on Twitch. I've been lurking on SDA since at least 2007. I've enjoyed watching speedrunning evolve into what it is today. I casually speedrun a few games and sometimes race random stuff on SRL, usually Pokemon.
The only games I've put any time towards on Speedrunning is Shatter and Hotline Miami, but recently I've decided to take my best shot at Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga after finding out that the game can be completely destroyed thanks to some glitches. I've still got a lot of practice to do, but I think SS can get to low 2-hours or even sub-2 with good execution.
Keep up what you are all doing, Speedrunning is fun to watch and do.
Hello all, names Will but I go by TeflonPirate. I've been interested in speedrunning for a bit but never had the time to really try it out until now. Working on Simpsons Hit and Run to start in between shifts and Paramedic school. Hope to be able to stream some good stuff in the near future!
I'm an Audio and Lighting Technician, VFX Editor, livestreamer, and frequent gamer from Canada. I just started learning a couple runs, including Portal Inbounds and Super Meat Boy Any%. I actually signed up with the intent to volunteer for AGDQ 2015 as a Technical crew, but figured I might as well get to know the community as well.
