Keep calm and code on
Hi everyone,

my name is Thomas, I'm a programmer (majoring in computer science) and enjoy all kinds of games. I have been following a few speedrunners on twitch for quite some time now and got really hyped after watching AGDQ 2014, so I thought I'd pick up a game to speedrun myself. Currently I'm learning Super Mario 64 as it is one of my favourite childhood games.

See you around

foolish
hey everyone! is matt or you can call me chosen!
I had always known about speed running but, then i came across agdq, and it inspired me to back up my favorite childhood games.
I grew up on the gamecube so I will probably be running my childhood favorites! Such as Mario Sunshine, Luigi's mansion, and more!
Hopefully I can make some new friends and most of all, just have fun! Cheesy
Hey everyone.  I'm fire_brand, I've been playing video games my whole life, mostly on the competivitive end of the spectrum.  The only console I ever owned was the NES and beyond that I've been a PC gamer my whole life.  I play a lot of Dota2, but I also really enjoy a lot old pixel games.  Through high school, university and even up until now I've been revisting a lot of the old great games of 'my' generation on emulator.  Probably one of my all time favorite games is Cave Story, so I will be attempting to speedrun that.

Ever since I watched my first AGDQ a couple years ago I have been a huge fan of the speedrunning community and always wanted to be a part of it.  Life, however, tends to get in the way.  I've had a little more free time recently and anticipate a lot more in the near future so I thought I could spend some of that time getting to learn how to speedrun, and what batter start than Cave Story?

A little about myself, I graduated with a bachelor of Applied Arts in Illustration.  My thesis was the beginning of a video game that I designed an programmed myself, using someone else's game's framework. Sadly I never finished it, but am always thinking about it some way or other, either in game design,m story or art.  I would likeone day to restart it, but for now will probably just enjoy my free time playing games.  Smiley

I will stream some time in the future as well.
Hello everyone! My IRL name is Riccardo and I'm from Italy but you can call me Nyasupan or Nyasu as you prefer, I am 22 years old and I study architecture in Milan. I started to watch runs and follow runners periodically for the past 3 months when I watched a friend of mine during a fun run, but I fell in love with this style of gaming with the last AGDQ. Since I was a kid I've played through games with a great pleasure but I had the most fun with trying to beat the game faster... I was still a kid and my game time was always the same ahahah.

In these days I've decided to take an active part in this community and I want to start running the games of my childhood! For now I want to do casual runs of the games I liked the most. I've seen the record run of Tomba and a very big thread about Alundra, 2 games I loved like crazy particulary the last one, and I'm trying to obtain again a copy of those games since I've lost mines long time ago. In the meantime I think I will start with Tokobot Plus for the PS2 and see if it an be a good game to run.

I hope to find a great community, see you around!
Cheese It
Hey y'all! Call me Nacho. I'm 20 years old and I've been a gamer for about 17 of them. Speedrunning is something I've done very casually for a long time (just putting in a game and gunning it without thought), and I've seen a lot of proper running on YouTube, so I figured why not just give all this a go myself? I can't see myself getting too into it all, but I'm looking forward to helping others out instead of just doing my own thing. No idea where to start though...

Can't wait to get to know a bunch of you guys!
Hello! So as you can probably read my name, I'm Angelfail (Angel for short like so many others out there...) I'm 20 years old and hailing from Belgium (Beer, chocolate, waffles the good stuff!).

I've been watching speedrunning for a while now (starting from Adam_AK, joshimuz and some others) and I watched AGDQ last year (and this year of course) and that really made me interested about speedrunning and how to get into it. But well, they say you need to have a game that you want to play over & over again to start speedrunning it, and I couldn't find that game so I just forgot about it.

When I saw the Warcraft III RoC & TFT that went on a couple days ago, it suddenly hit me. Warcraft III was a game that I enjoyed for so long (custom games, normal games and the awesome campaign) and I started doing some research about PC games in general.

My favorite games of all time are Super Smash Brothers Melee, Warcraft III and Star Wars KotoR I & II. And I will look into getting into speedrunning Warcraft III & maybe KotoR although that isn't certain right now.
That's all I really have to say, if you guys have any questions about me, shoot!
Hello everyone! I'm Vynleren. Even though I've just registered on this site, I've been lurking around and watching speedruns off and on for the past year. Starting this week I'm actually going to begin speedrunning games myself, mostly Zelda and Mario games (MM and 64 to start) and I'm excited to get involved with the speed running community.

Like many others, this past AGDQ was the final shove for me to get interested in doing runs myself. I look forward to talking to you all here and discussing some of my favorite games!
Hello all, You can just call me by my username and I've been speedrunning games since I was a kid which was just me trying to beat a game as fast as possible. My cousin and I used this term alot although we were unaware of any other speedrunners until I discovered youtube  back in 2007-2008 when I stumbled upon cod videos and the rest is history.
SHARK SENPAI
Yooo,

I am Addy, a recent illustration grad and I am a big fan of video games and what you guys are doin' here at SDA and AGDQ. 2014 was such a ride to watch. I'm usually a bit too twitchy to speedrun successfully but I'm ever fascinated by the people who have the dedication and hope to see even more amazingness. :D?

wow bad at intro posts, either way cool folks, cool games, hope to contribute to the cool community in some way
I'm PA, and I make Let's Plays in my spare time. I heard SGDQ was coming to Denver, so I thought I'd get into running one of my old favorites to join in the fun.

Mostly watched Cosmo at first, then started branching out to other speedrunners as well. Currently a fan of Medibot's Noitu Love and YoCo strats, but just a huge fan of AGDQ in general.

Hoping to submit my first run in the near future, will be updating it as I get further into my personal best.
Hello everyone! I'm Mordos, a gamer and a variety livestreamer from Finland. I originally found SDA years ago in search of a Morrowind speed run but SGDQ2013 really got me into the whole thing. First from the viewer's perspective and as of recently learning runs myself.

I don't know whether I'll consider submitting runs in the future but I'll definitely hang out on the forum because not only is it a vast source of information but also a great community (as the whole speed running community tends to be). And of course keep on running.
Salutations! I'm Pip_the_Sword, or Christopher irl. I came up with the name just off the top of my head after watching Lord of the Rings one night. I've been lurking for about a year, but after watching the Super Mario World runs at AGDQ, I decided to do something more visible. I'm a college student from Texas majoring in English. I game in my spare time, and am working on SMW No Cap/No Star World to begin, and then moving on to Small Mario%.
I'm in the process of setting up a stream on Twitch, but sadly that won't happen until we get better internet in the boonies where I live.
Very excited to be a part of this awesome community!
twitch.tv/vid3odrome
Hello, I'm vid3odrome, from Chicago.  I'm part of this batch of fresh fish, but I've been watching speedgaming for a while.  I saw Kings of Poverty at the end of 2012 and have been watching marathons, streams, and AGDQ/SGDQ since!

I'm about to search for any info on running Tobal quest mode, which I'd like to do.  I also got a PS1 game called Lucifer Ring today that might make for a pretty funny run, if it's short and simple enough.  It's a japanese beat em up that got released through the PS1 import section on PSN.  Gonna play it tonight to see.

Going to stream, then if things get serious, make submissions for those games!

I'm only as crazy as you think...
Hi all!

I don't really use the forums often save for checking out marathon stuff, but figured I'd make an account anyway. I'm also really bad at introductions, but oh well.

I'm ElaineSpencer (real name Jessica), and I'm a 21 year old casual runner in the Kansas City area. I've been speedrunning since late 2012, and I started out with OoT (Glitchless CD, because I can't ganondoor). As of late I've mainly been running Touhou Eiyashou and am considering going back to attempting Single Segment Ar Tonelico runs (I've only done phase one).

Other than speedrunning I do enjoy playing games casually, favoring SHMUPs and RPGs. I also play Star Wars the Old Republic, but not as often as I used to. Games aside I really enjoy music, and have been playing the violin since I was 10 (Cello at 12, tried piano in high school but ragequit).
@_neilo
Hello everyone, I'm alxtop aka Neilo. I'm from Staffordshire, England. So I decided to sign up after watching AGDQ 2014, though I've been watching speedruns since early 2013 and it really got me thinking that I could really have a bash doing my own speedruns.

Currently, there are three games I want to run, and they're all for the Genesis, they are Cosmic Spacehead, Fantastic Dizzy and Rolo To The Rescue. It's Rolo I really want to conquer; as a child I never completed the game. There's an any% TAS that was completed 6 years ago that I've taken note of, but it's a 100% route that I want to map and complete this year, so I will be asking for aid if anyone has any info on running this game.
Master of the Blue Magic
Hey there everyone! Pretty new here, and the name is Brilly. Not Billy, don't be silly. Anyways! I'm looking forward to being here... though I'm not too good with forums so I might be pretty slow at posting anywhere. I decided to sign up after getting a little interested in trying to speed run and hopefully do something neat, you know~! I'm looking forward to speed running games like Fortune Summoner and other games that take my interest. I also run a Youtube account where I review a game here and there... although I've been a bit slow lately! Check out BlueMagicReviews if you want to see that. I also have a Twitch account (twitch.tv/BlueMageBrilly) that I use now and then... though I'm still mapping out my run so I won't be speed running for now.

But, back to the point, I'd really like help running Fortune Summoners:Secret of the Elemental Stone if anyone has any information they could spare. Didn't seem to be much here on the forums... or anywhere, really. Anyways, nice to meet you!
Or something
Hello, My name's SuperHenry, but just call me Henry. I am pretty new to the speedrunning scene, only starting in december. I mainly run Pokemon games, but I might run Something different on some days. I have been aware of speedrunning since I was young, but it was mainly TAS videos. My friend introduced me to people like werster, and I have been hooked. Hes actually better than me at Super mario 64 16 star, but I can sure kick his butt in anything Pokemon related. I'm not very good at doing these intro things :\ soz about that. although I mainly do Pokemon sppedruns, I have been planning on Sonic Adventure 2, Mega man Xtreme (Not X, Xtreme) and some others. I guess this was fun writing this, so hopefully I stay active here for a while.
Hey guys what's up? My names dave, i'm an up and coming speed runner of some different games. I don't see much done with the racing genre so i'm trying to make that a thing starting with some of the newer NFS games. I've already made my first submission to SDA but am planning a lot more if it gets accepted.

A bit about me: I'm a self taught computer tech and web designer. I've dabbed around in hacking as well but found no purpose in it for me unless it was for a game i was bored with and wanted to see the odd things we could do with it. I've been gaming for years, web designing for years and can't wait to show what i got here in the community
I'm a Stegosaurus!
Hey everyone!

My name is Xer (/xer_91 on twitch, still hoping for a namechange win) aka Martin, a 22 year old computer science student from Germany (gonna drop computer science, though). Finally decided to make an account here. Started getting more interested into speedrunning during AGDQ 2013 where I saw lots of impressive stuff, and decided to start speedrunning on my own right afterwards.

Mainly I run old PS1 games, having my focus on the first Rayman game for PS1, more games that I run are the first three Spyro games, occasionly some Super Meat Boy and I plan to run Rayman Origins/Legends in the future, too.

Anyways, happy to be here since the speedrunning community is definitely one of the nicest communities out there Wink
Random Belgian Guy
Hello everybody, I'm Ginsey !

In short, I'm a nearly-22 years old Belgian random guy from.. er... Belgium lolz. I speak english like a waffle so don't expect huge language skills from me ! :p Besides my gaming activity I study Medicine. Yup!

I've always used "tricks" to gain time for years, from my first games to my last but never thought about speedrunning and all the stuff around it. Frankly, never heard anything until AGDQ 2012 (praise TwitchTV). Since then I began to try to run some games I love (such as Pokemon series, some Zelda games) but never attempted any real runs since... today ! eheh

The recent ''remake'' of Metal Gear Rising on PC has awakened my hidden passion. So 2014 seems to have started in speedrunney-quickey-way :p
Hello all!

My name is Bruce, but I go by LakonTheGreat in the few twitch streams I frequent. I'm a respiratory therapist, and I'll be going back to school in the fall for Pre-Med. I am a father, and a 26-year-old divorcee.

I've led an interesting life, and it's led me here with my first run. Madness Accelerant, a flash game. Hope to see you guys on my stream sometimes!
Hello All,
I'm vamphri, and after watching AGDQ for the past few years, I have finally found the time to start doing speed runs. I am trying to start doing runs for Shadowrun Returns right now. Hope to see you all around and talking strats when I can :D.
Hey Guys

My name is Bryan. gaming wise I go by Deathwiiish or D-Wish for short because you get some weird looks in public when friends yell out deathwish lol. I am a fan of speedrunning of course and recently have taken it up. Learning to Speed run Mega man 8 right now. thinking about streaming some of my practice runs. I do enjoy casual gaming also of all types of games but my favorite are RPG's. Hope to see you guys around and when I start streaming feel free to pop in say hi and talk about gaming in general.
Hey everybody !

I'm Tangi (don't try to pronounce that Wink french guy of 22 years old, i don't know a lots of things on speedruns so that's why i'm here, i just made a weird run of dishonored i'll post it soon on the proper topic.
I decided to go by the nickname BoomBoom777, since I don't want to disclose much about my personal information.  I became interested in speed running after watching SDA marathon videos on you tube.

I've played video games casually since I got a NES on Christmas all those years ago; (I'm still a Nintendo fan, though I also temporarily owned a PS1 around 2008-2009.) but lately, I've been trying or attempting the tricks I've seen on the marathon videos, some I managed to pull off with some difficulty, but most I still can't do...  In other words I'm a experienced gamer but technically a rookie in speed running.

Today marks my first time joining SDA forms, though I have much to learn before I start doing any speed running.  My plans for now are to try speed running Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest with a condition of collecting all key items, spells, armor, and weapons. (KISAW run.)  In addition to that I also plan to speed run Castlevania II Simon's Quest as well.

Right now, I have those games on my Wii U and Wii VC, but until I rebuild funds, I'll have to wait on purchasing original consoles and games.  I enjoy beat em ups, platforming, and rpg's; have no interest in M-rated games or t-rated games with nudity. (someone's got have morals here.:))  Hopefully, I'll be learning a lot from this forum and improve my experience through speed running. Smiley
