Squitters Never Prosper
Hey. I'm a SDA babby (just joined). AGDQ brought me here! I was just looking up a dkc2 speedrun and lo and behold. It was that one. on agdq.

Then I browsed some other agdq videos of games I liked and started becoming interested in speedrunning. I'm mostly into SNES/N64 stuff, and then mostly Rare games (dkc of course, dk64, Banjo Kazooie), but I also like Dr. Mario and Pokemon Puzzle League (though sadly I lack a physical copy at the moment). Right now I'm working on doing a 100% run of dkc2 just to get familiar with the levels, then I'm going to try to start hacking away at an actual speedrun.

Right meow I'm in college to become an English/theatre teacher. So yeah. There's me.

I like this community so far, and good luck in AGDQ 2014! I'll be tuning in for sure!
Hello! I'm not sure I've introduced myself before. I love watching speed runs of games I've played and contributing to them too.
Hello everyone, jpr here. I'm not a speedrunner myself, but I've been watching speedruns for a long time now, and I'm usually all over any speed-related challenges a game might offer me.
I'm a beginning game developer currently working on a speedrunning game, and I'm here to get input from some actual speedrunners. Expect a thread on the subject with more details shortly! (If I can manage to find the correct place for it)
http://www.twitch.tv/lildingus
Hi all, lildingus here, i mainly run resident evil 2 and 3 on the gamecube as they are both ports of the pc version and run smoother. I want to get into recording my runs and wondered what the best hardware and software would be for recording straight to my hard drive.

The story is in The cave <3
Hello,
So lepatryckduffy French player of 17 years.
I do not have much experience on the speed run but I would like try actively.
I think the speed and run the tool really can understand some game play mechanics and level design.

I'm doing on the sgdq last year, it's really great these maratons.
Urges the esa.
I think starting on cave story but I find not necessarily info on skips (I saw the topic on the forum)
And if people speed run the game ....thumbsup
I would like to speed runer year Elysian dust tail but fez too.
And i would like game designer. Roll Eyes

So I hope I am not boring. And see you

Edit: I'm sory but I have a very bad english.
Name's Bo. Triple major in college. I've been coming to this site for years. I really started following the SDA community this summer when I stumbled upon SGDQ streaming while I was working on a 14 page Psychology paper  (Do You Like Hurting People? A Psychological Examination of Violence, and it's Execution in Hotline Miami.) I love Hotline Miami. I got an A on that paper.

I've never really had to dedication to beat any of the existing times, I wanted to find something original to submit. Well my chance was granted when a little hole-in-the-wall import store opened in my city and I bought myself a Famicom. just a couple days ago as a Christmas present to myself, this same shop does console mods, I treated myself to an A/V modded Famicom, so I can actually get some decent recordings off of the console.

Right now I'm running:
Ganbare Goemon 2 (Mystical Ninja 2, never released outside of Japan) single player, single segment.
Cocoron which I see is being run at AGDQ 2014 I'm excited to watch that.
and this little hidden gem called DreamMaster. Not Little Nemo: The Dream Master, this is it's own beast. It's a very unusual RPG, which I'm probably going to have to submit a segmented run of, I could explain why in detail in another thread.

Anyway, I hope I can figure out the nuances of this recording and submission process so I can begin contributing!
Hello SDA!

donerer here.  Some of you might recognize me from chats in your streams, be it chatting or winning trivia contests and spending the reward on an unmentionable CV game ( <3 Rom ).  Y'all finally inspired me enough to start my own stream.  Currently I'm establishing a PB for SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron and doing as many races as I can!

Here's to 2014 being a heck of a year for the community, and I'll cya all on SRL (and hopefully at SGDQ)!
twitch.tv/ivyvisual
Hey SDA. I go by IvyVisual but you can just call me Ivy. I consistently run Wolfenstein (2009) and found a majority of the glitches for it to this date. I am a somewhat active runner and I do enjoy running from time to time. You can find most of my records on Congratsio the PB Tracker.

However the other thing is that I cannot stress enough that this game needs more runners. Being the only runner is upsetting because there's not much competition. The game is super easy to learn and I'd love for someone to join me.

I hope someone gets interested. You can check out the Wolfenstein Thread over in the Pc Games Section.
Sup guys, been keeping up with speedrunning for a while, been playing some games religiously recently and its just turned into speedrunning and im hooked, going to be getting a stream setup going soon as well.  Cheers all.
Hi, I'm Mark. I found SDA sometime in the middle of May 2013, and started my own speedruns early August. Currently, I do SotN any% on PS3 because I'm poor and can't buy a 360 (although I probably never will), and I'm looking into Outland and Ratchet and Clank 1/2/3 as well.

When I'm not wasting my day watching other runners on twitch, I'll probably be watching anime/reading manga.

I hope for this to be a fun year for me, and I look forward to being a part of this community!
Ahoy! I'm Spanjj, from the UK and an SDA n00b (just joined). I've been gaming as far back as I can remember and started watching speed running videos a few months ago. I'm completely addicted! Seems like a great community so wanted to get involved. Plus I reckon you could use a few more females in the mix ;] Hat tip to Withhelde and Essentia, both awesome runners.

I'm looking to start running Limbo. I used to review games a few years back and that's the only one I ever gave a 10/10. I chuffing love it. If anyone could point in the direction of runners / streamers rocking Limbo that'd be ace.

I'm also a web developer by trade and would love to get into that side of things in the community too.

Anywho, STOP BABBLING SPANJJ! Nice to meet you all etc! Ooh and can't wait til AGDQ 2014, YEAH BUDDY!
The Not-So-Wise Man
Hello there, SDA community! You can call me Expelsword.
I've actually known about speedrunning for a long time, but up until the Summer, I had no idea that marathons and charity events were a thing. After watching a ton of AGDQ and SGDQ 2013, I must say that I've been kind of sucked in.

If I was gonna speedrun a game, it would probably be Star Ocean 2. It doesn't seem to be held in very high regard here, but I don't think it would be too bad. Interestingly enough, it's mentioned in the rules for timing runs for being inacurate, and while this would probably prevent me from ever going for official times, I'd like to get down to a true, marathon quality tightness. From what I can tell, the best person to contact for advice would be Withhelde.

Other than that, I'm waiting around for AGDQ 2014, it's great to see gamers helping the world at large.
Hi there, I'm ShadowDancer.
I have been following this site for years and the community behind it, and I just love both.
I'm from Italy so english is not my first language, but I hope I can make myself clear.
In these year I ran for fun games like Megaman (1,2 and 3) Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil 2 even making races with my friends, but I never joined SRL because at that time I didn't know its exsistence.
Then I found out I liked RPG runs the most, and I started running Final Fantasy(s) for fun.
But in this site (and on the internet, except few exeptions) I noticed there are no runs of Atlus RPGs runs like the Persona series, or Shin Megami Tensei, or Digital Devil Saga. So I started working on the game I liked the most, DDS, and I got some results in it, routing almost half of the run by this time. But before I go further on that, I want to ask the community to help me to make this run a truly SDA run.
I'm really looking forward to join this community after all this time!

Hey all. I'm Brandon(aka inerdbriated). Stumbled across the AGDQ videos early-ish 2013. Really new to speedrunning, have been working on and off for a while now on a SMB any% run with a fight stick though. Hoping to meet some great people and learn some great strats here. I mainly play PC, but I have a decent sized collection of older consoles (ps2 and earlier). Not sure what else to say currently..but it's nice to meet you all!
Hi SDA Community,

I'm Tzunami! I am brand new to Speed running but this was quite clearly the place to come to learn everything I need to know! I love the feeling I get from watching speed running and its friendly yet competitive nature. The friendly players that I see are a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of other gaming communities I have experienced. There are a TON of acronyms and teminology which I am trying to learn as quickly as possible but it's pretty overwhelming at first. I don't foresee myself ever trying at WRs, I am going to start speed running casually and it will almost certainly stay that way. This community is great! Happy to be here Smiley
Hello, The name is Bakuchris
I started getting interested in speedrunning around the summer of last year, ever since I have tried my best to get better at speedrunning, though Im very slow with any game I try. I mostly try speedrunning The Legend of Zelda Series of games, though my most personal favourites are the SNES and NES Versions of the games, since I'm much better at those games. anyway sorry for going on and on. Im glad to joing a vibrate community of people who enjoy speeding through games. I hope to have a lot of enjoyment here.

Hello every here and the SDA staff members, I am Paul Algarate otherwise known as TechMage299. I have gotten into speedrunning ever since I could remember.

I first stumbled upon AGDQ 2013 videos on the SDA youtube channel and have been following since due to that feeling of mastery trying to beat something in your own record time. I'm hoping for the time being to be able to attend SDGQ 2014 and participate in later years. I love to replay the ol' retros after I have forgotten how to play them. I hope to enjoy my time here with all of you.
Clintombment
I'm Clinton, but I go by Clintombment on the internet.  I didn't run into SDA until I worked an overnight job and got bored and ran into a speedrun of Wind Waker and then continued to watch hours of speedruns.  I've been trying to figure out what I want to run, but Diablo II is about the only game that I know every in and out of.  I would definitely be up for blind races of all sorts.  The N64 is by far my favorite console.  I have 7 consoles and about 130 titles.  Finally got ahold of a dazzle and purchased a XSplit license and am ready for streaming!  I think I will be doing some casual runs of SM64 100% soon.
my hat is my friend
Hello! My name's Camilla, but I go by RocketPineapple...I guess? I'm not so good with this nickname stuff. I started watching speedruns at the end of SGDQ last year and I've been hooked ever since! I've been lurking around streams and checking out the community but watching AGDQ today I've finally decided to get my act together and jump in to the community!

I just got a new computer that can actually play games and I'm slowly getting my game setup together. I enjoy watching old school PS1 games like Crash and Spyro. I'm not the best at videogames but after the last couple of years I've decided to just go ahead and do things I like doing. At the moment, I'm trying to learn to speedrun Touhou 10 in broken%, and I'm also teaching myself Fire Emblem: Awakening and possibly Deadly Premonition. I hope to get to next year's AGDQ, even if just to support everyone, watch great runs, and bake cookies and cakes for you all. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!
My internet name is HUDuser, for whatever that's worth Tongue I'm new to SDA, but long time follower of runs on Twitch and SRL, even some from back in JTV days! Hope to start running a few games soon and hope to help, as well as become a part of, the community.
Competitive Gamer
The name's Hansel and I used to play Quake 3, CS 1.6, DotA, and Tribes: Ascend competitively, but now I just play and don't enter tournaments. I've been interested in speedrunning games but haven't gotten around to learning any strats for certain games other than a handful.

The one thing I'm disappointed in is that there aren't any full runs of Neo Contra anywhere and AFAIK there isn't a place to discuss the game and learn about any glitches or optimal routes.
Your Neighborhood Psycho
Greetings everyone! I'm MonoSpectator.

I got into speed runs after seeing Cosmo do his Ocarina of Time run as well as a series of Shadow of the Colossus runs. I've been hooked ever since and have been following speed runs for almost a year now. I'm currently watching AGDQ 2014 and I've been watching replays from AGDQ and SGDQ 2013 as well. I've never done any speed runs myself, but I know that if I want to learn the ropes then I should come here! I've been playing video games ever since I was little and seeing how much speed running games has helped others through charity events really makes me want to get involved.

Sadly, I don't have a lot of the equipment to record speed runs currently, but practice is still always good. Currently, I'd like to speed run one of the older Pokemon titles, Shadow of the Colossus, Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, LoZ: Twilight Princess, LoZ: Majora's Mask, Pikmin, or Banjo Kazooie.
