If you ever want to get into racing Ninja Gaiden, there are lots of active players, you just have to bug us.
Hi everybody!

I'm Chris and i live in the States
I love to play all games any time whenever I can (although i prefer to play RPGs and Platformers)

My favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy VII but my favorite Platformer is Mega Man X4 which i have only completed once with each character (no ultimate X)

i'm setting up a twitch account and hope to start streaming soon (mostly playing games for the heck of it for fun using emulators (since i can't stream using my tv at the moment)) but i'm at http://www.twitch.tv/Tiduszecht

I also play a lot of zelda and have recently started trying to speedrun Wind Waker (mostly from watching Cosmo do his speedruns and learning all the tricks) but i also understand most of the tricks for OoT and MM.

anyway, i hope to make some friends and expand my game archive
Hey all, I'm Mischa, I'm a 21yo Computer Science student. I am really new to the speedrun community. I had a cursory interest in speedrunning when I was younger, however that interest blossomed with the Octodad AGDQ2013 run I was linked to via youtube, it has been a beautiful affair since then #AGDQ2014HYPE

When it comes to games, I'm mostly a PC gamer however I started gaming on the early Nintendo handhelds and Playstation, continued onto PS2 and eventually into PC

My systems collection currently consists of...

  • Original Gameboy

  • Gameboy Colour

  • Gameboy Advance

  • Fat DS

  • 3DS

  • N64

  • I spent a lot of time playing Team Fortress 2 (about 1200hours), from just casual pub gaming to the competitive scene here in New Zealand.

I have recently gained an interest in Cave Story+ and am formulating a run, I would really love some assistance with this.
Is there a cavestory channel in the IRC server?

Can't wait to get more into speedrunning with the help of SDA Cheesy

Oh, yeah!, of course, i want to get into racing ninja gaiden, my current pb is 13:42 and most of the time i get sub 15 in my latests practice runs on twitch, i haven't raced with anyone yet at speedrunslive because i am not sure at what hour the ninja gaiden players are most active.

I'm Bryan and I have been running a stream under my Twitch name Friendzie. Some people listed on the sda Twitch page may have caught me in their streams lately, too. Currently I'm in the process of deciding whether I should speed run anything, and what games I might be best suited for. My current choices would be Diablo 2 or Mario 3D World. I already know all there is to know about Diablo 2, and I like that the game has a lot of potential categories I could cover, some of which haven't been done before. I'm also quite good at Mario games, though after watching some of the people here, I bow down to the superior skill of other people as well. I'm also interested in doing "challenges" rather than just speed runs, so I was thinking of doing a Zelda Skyward Sword hero mode run, without any intention of doing it quickly. I don't know if that would fall under casual play according to the community here. In any case, if I do start running anything, I will be posting about it on this forum for sure.

I also have one question and I don't know where to ask questions on here. Maybe someone can PM me about this: If I do a run on live stream that turns out to be really great and worthy of submission, do I have to remove the other boxes in the stream to submit it to this site? In other words, do I need to be saving the raw game video/audio separately from the stream? If so I will have to figure out how to do this and if my program already does this for me.

Greetings to all the new ones, nice to have you here ^^

Where to ask questions: if you have a feeling that you might find an old thread with an answer using the search function, that is most appreciated. If not, generally just look for the board that seems most fitting and start a new thread. The newer you are, the less likely you are to be shouted at, and the longer you're following the boards, the more you'll get the feel where the best places are Wink
To answer your question directly, though: Yes, for submission you need a video file that is only the raw game video/audio; no splits, no stream overlay, no your-voice or Skype call, no music background. A lot of ideas on how to do that should be in the tech support subforum, or in the knowledge base ^^

    Aren't newbies good? Tongue
sure there will be a bunch that sign in maybe twice then fall off the face of the earth, but a steady flow of new users is NEVER a bad thing.

Never said they're bad. Just want to imply that there'll be way too many for me to actually read what they write to introduce themselves, let alone answer Wink
Hey all, Ivonevil here. I've been a huge fan of SpeedDemosArchive for a few years now and have watched hundreds of your guys videos over the years. My first experience getting into the forums though and I hope to get to know some of you and maybe get some advice on some of my own speed running. Can't say I have my game of choice picked out yet, but hopefully these forums will give me a hand with that!
Hey. Been speedrunning for like a year and a half and decided to join. I run weaboo games such as Evangelion Jo, Drakengard 3, and Dragonball Advanced Adventures. Nice to meet you people

Hello there, I am Bargainbin, I generally go by this name if i can in most games and communities now. I found out about SDA after watching speedrunners on twitch, was awesome to see some of the tricks people can pull off to speed up to a finish of a game. I have not yet to begin speedrunning but would like to get into it, finally got a capture card and been testing it out on twitch. I have no set game in mind on what I want to attempt to speedrun yet, but I would like to say hello to everyone and hopefully have some good times and chats here!
    Hello everyone,

I'm Ony, an amateur in terms of speedruning. I have some basic notions, but I never run a game. I love watching other people who run game, specially the one i've played when i was a child. After 2 years of viewing speedrun, i would like to join SDA in order to learn more about technicals and tricks aspects. I plan to make my first speedrun on "Resonance of fate/End of eternity" for fun, probably in some months, because i have some problem with my xbox360 at the moment. It's an underated game, so you probably never heard about it. The only person i know who runs this game is Neviutz.

    Nice to meet you !

    Hi Ony ^^
It was nicely featured at ESA, and I enjoyed sitting on the couch with Nev :3 Unfortunately, the video hasn't been highlighted or uploaded to YT yet (I think). More love for unknown RPGs is goo~d ^__^

    Hello Folks

I've come on here because I was always interested in Speedrunning ever since I watch the runs on your AGDQ and SGDQ Marathons, my main goal is to run the Skylanders games (I have the games on Wii) Though my choice of Capture Device is kinda weak (Sabrent USB Capture Device which in turn is a EasyCAP Clone) I hope to make some friends here
    True.
    Greetings all,
The name's Adam. I go by froz3nInsanity on Twitch, although these days I simply go by "Frozen."  I used to speedrun NES and SNES games years ago for fun, and only recently discovered the phenomenal community that keeps raising the bar in an activity I used to think was only enjoyed by myself and few friends.  I'm hoping to break off the rust soon and pick up a game or two to see if I've still got any semblance of chops.  Current interests: Evermore and MMX2.

Can't wait to see how far everyone can push their respective games!
@Alko: I see, I'm pleasently surprised =). I managed to download the video from ESA 2013 thank to twitchTV and twitchtool. And i preciously keep them to rewatch them when i need to ^^
    groovy
Hello everybody, my name is Nintendo4an1 and I want to become a runner. I was inspired by Cosmowright and Siglemic. I'm also looking for easy Nintendo games to speed run. Not too long. One day once my running skills are honed, I'd like to attend AGDQ.
