How would you draw "100 meter wide circles" on a map that doesn't have a scale and if it would, it would've probably been incorrect?

By doing it on the 6k×6k aerial map available at myepsilon.org which is on scale (1 pixel = 1 meter) and also translates nicely to the game's internal coordinates (top left is -3000,+3000). I've also stretched and cropped the game map to those dimensions, but of course you can work out and use its original scale if you want.

Correction to the description of the video from the last post: Putting the bike in the garage at the end isn't needed for SS after all. You just need to be driving it when you enter the marker, because otherwise it despawns. I thought I'd tried that but I tried it again and it's fine.

You don't need to move after killing the guys no, you get teleported to the car.

I had thought of doing something like this before, however when I did I found it wasn't as fast as just swimming. Maybe I was wrong, either way this is a lot safer and cooler Tongue

To blow up the farthest one: just aim in the general direction and wait ~2s (it takes ~1.5s to lock on no matter how exact you aim) - 99.9% consistent.

So what your saying is that the rocket is locking onto the boat even though you can't see the targeting icon? If that is the case then that is quite interesting

EDIT: I just tested it and the homing rockets do indeed target the boats even though they are seemingly not in range due to not showing the lock on on the HUD.
I just made a quick video about it

It seems like the game is programmed to only show the icon on objects that are within a cube around CJ. This has the strange effect of the cube reaching further when rotated diagonally. I made a picture to demonstrate how this works...

The boat in the middle represents the target.
The black circles represent CJ.
The blue circle around the boat represents an equal distance from the boat (to show that the CJ's are the same distance from the boat)
All the squares are approximately the same size.
The green square is when the bottom CJ just looks straight at the boat. It DOESN'T reach the boat.
The orange square is when the bottom CJ looks 45 degrees away from the boat (either left or right). It DOES reach the boat
The red square is when a CJ that is already diagonal to the boat looks 45 degress away from it. It DOES reach the boat.
I hope that helps explain it, I'm not sure how else to do it Tongue
My feelings on The Demon Rush
So I'm going to change my mind a bit on the ruling, and I'd like to work with you guys. Obviously, we can't have uncapped framerate for this game, but at the same time, enforcing the frame limiter might be too harsh. Right now it looks like there is almost no/minimal difference at 30 FPS.

I talked to AdamAK, and he said the most important thing is to make the framerate consistent, and not let it be uncapped. We all know the game breaks down at 60+ fps, so anything at 60+ shouldn't be considered. 30 FPS would probably be most fair, but Adam said 40 FPS might be okay too.

I doubt that you read this, Mike, in case you do. Thanks for being nice. :-)

The idea to destroy the last boat wasn't genius at all. I just used the GTASA_Center to change the weather and then you can see the lock-on-symbol. IOW, the fog hid the symbol. It's a shame that the theory you put in so much work is wrong. As can be seen in Interdiction, the lock-on-range&lock-on-symbol-range is enormous.

E:LOL, S.
Well his theory still applies to being able to see the symbol in foggy weather :p

@milkwuyma I'm not sure if you have read it or not, but there were quite a few things posted on page 29-30 about the fps, I think from what we can tell there is minimal difference between 25 to 40 FPS.

@patrick/S I didn't realise it was just because of the fog. I knew the rockets lock-on range was unaffected and it was just the lock on symbol, but I didn't think that it would be effected by the weather. Strange though.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Joshimuz, there's a lot of posts and I'm not really understand everything. It looks more like 30 FPS is better simply because there's very little difference between that and 25 FPS, plus pretty much anyone could record at 30 FPS.
I AM FUCKED ANGRY
sorry, when I put me in, but yes, Rockstar games run mostly on 30fps.

It is not important when you have a power PC or a low PC, the games run on 30fps. That is correct, for GTA and MH games. 40fps is not constant, you need 30 or 60 and Rockstar do not like 60fps.
a little improvement to cesar vialpando mission. saves about ~4 seconds compared to old 2 fences shortcut, but it's MUCH easier to do

Attachment:
@milkwuyma, I think what we found is that there is no significant difference between 25-40 FPS at all, and that anyone should reasonably be able to play it at 40 FPS. The effects are minor, and there is both positive and negative effects to using both. I'm not sure about 60 fps though, I haven't tested but from what I think the swimming element to the game becomes far too slow (to the point in which it would get you killed) at 60 FPS. However I'm not sure.
I do see the need for SOME limit to the FPS now, but I'm not sure what that limit should be. I fear just limiting it to 25 FPS would put a lot of people off running this game at all. Unless someone else corrects me however, 40 FPS is fine to our knowledge, but I'm not sure about anything higher.

@MortyreR45 I'm not 100% sure what your trying to say here, but GTA:SA's frame limiter limits the game to 25 FPS, so what you say about Rockstar games run on 30 is wrong, and what do you mean by 40 FPS is not "constant"?

GTA 3 and vice city were capped at 30fps with the frame limiter. i guess his point is that its the same for san andreas.

On management issues on your run that was going on during 2:30 PM GMT

Copied from chat:
Gj, reason the second guy didnt follow you into the park was because you took the turn too sharply. They chase you in a straight line, so when you took that sharp turn in the park he turned as well to go straight towards you, and he crashed into the gate, hence why he didnt go in the park.
@ijoris Yeah we already know about that ^_^ You just spam the jump button as you get busted/killed in LS

@S Yeah, being too fast in that section is what kept going wrong. Like you said, you need to lure them into the park then get out without them leaving.

Oki, How did the run end today?
Afaik, he was too perfectionist in LS and after all those restarts was too tired, so he gave up before the casino missions.

It was that, and the fact I was a good 8 minutes behind, I was really doubting I would beat it, even with all the time I should of gained in LV and return to LS, because I was sure I would screw something else up :/

Oh well, I learnt a lot, not just not being so perfect in LS Tongue
@Josh: I recommend you watch my video again. I put a little thought into where the optimal shooting position is. You wasted at least 10s in that mission.

Project jump: The first time you did it completely wrong. The third time you did it right and he fell through. Attempt 4 succeded.
I already wrote that it is less than 90% consistent. Some time ago I did some testing and found out that the jet pack is a cuboid for the game, the direction it points at is irrelevant. The reason that one falls through it sometimes is the delay between touching it and getting it and I don't know what one can do to make it more likely to work. As I said (iirc), when jumping from the very same spot (99.99999999999% thx to teleporter), once CJ fell through it, once he got it on the top (60fps), many times he got it and I don't know how much 'spare height' he had on average. :-) The success rate was 70-80% iirc.
There is a (quite new) alternative involving two jumps, after the second jump you get the jetpack and if you get fall damage before the game recognizes that CJ is 'in' the jetpack, it only takes up half the health bar. It probably wastes 20s, but I have not timed it.
Guess the best thing for me to do then is to pwn at ambulance missions, make sure my health doesnt get shot, pick up armor, and just use the health glitch to jump down :p
You can pick up health and armor in case you fail horribly in that run.

please, can anyone who own i3, i5 or i7 processor help me? i'm running sa at stable 60 fps with v-sync, but at some areas fps drops to ~40, so with fraps, it drops even to 25 or lower. so what i need, if you have time, to test yours fps in that areas which are marked on a map on max settings. http://image-upload.de/image/qCCXoF/e8a10d3924.jpg ones that i really need is area around lake in glen park and place, where Cesars house is located
I get a lot of frame drops when I go around Emmett's place, however I'm not sure about the other places, I'll test when I can.
All fine for me, though I haen't tested with the limiter off.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Since I haven't seen a lot of argument against it, 30 FPS should be the frame limit for this game. If people still want to play at 25 FPS, that's cool, but runs at 30 FPS should also be alright.

It makes sense since both GTA 3 and VC play at 30 FPS with the frame limiter on.
