The Goldeneye Wii TAS was recently published on TASvideos, and it's gotten a lot of views and nice comments from people who enjoyed the run

Metal + Speed = Life
That's awesome man, Congrats again... And I hope maybe this can draw some attention to the game for some people, I would love to see anyone else running this game.
On a side note, got a 11:46 Time Trial on Cradle today, I had gotten 12:18 before, without spawn manipulation or the clip, so I feel like this time is actually amazing! Watch the run and tell me what you think, I usually improve my times slowly on levels but I think I just got really lucky with this level grind, this was about the 30th attempt ( I was only doing the intro with natalya over and over until this run happened and I felt it was good enough to carry on with), everything from that point onwards went way too smoothly...

I hope so, too. Maybe someone else will pick this game up one day.
That cradle run looks really good. The strats on that level are so cool. The guard spawns, trev kill, the clip, it's all good. Really solid run.

Made a guide with all the strats I have videos for, a lot of them TAS strats. There are some good RTA ones too, like Bunker clip (saves ~10s on 00 Classic) and the Jungle hovers and Solar hovers.

Edit: a comparison of two strats in Bunker that both skip roughly the same amount of time; one is a clip and the other a hover. Turn on CCs for details about each trick:
I've heard about objective marker bugs in Bunker, but skipping the marker here doesn't break the rest of the level afaik.

Damn that's awesome man, thanks for taking the time to post this. Will definitely be useful for me, I always enjoy trying the TAS tricks anyways, good challenge. But thanks especially for the Bunker stuff, I'll look at it all tonight and hopefully I'll have time to try some Bunker runs

First decent run through using "dead scientist hover" .. love that. Will try for better.
Nice run! That dead scientist hover is great. Also there's a good way to save a little bit of time at the end of the level. Instead of sprinting behind Natalya, just walk until you get past the part where you slide down. You can be as close as possible to natalya without sprinting, so you'll be able to sprint more at the very end. Do one sprint at the very beginning of that section to catch up with her, then sprint again after sliding down. Then do another sprint at the very end. I think this could save a little under half a second. It's not much, but it'll help.

After about 12-13 hours or attempts over the last few days, and having tied 8:26 five times... This happened!!!
I know a second or two was lost but this is the definition of the God run Ive been grinding Bunker for. Super pleased with this.

Bunker on Operative 8m21s

Yeah that was a really good run. That dead scientist hover was really fast, I didn't realize just how quickly it could be done. Everything else was really good, too. Just a clean run all around.

8m11s Archives on Operative..
Previous best was 8:17 but I made the strats much much riskier.
Still I feel despite the few mistakes this is a real good time. Its hard to get a clean runthrough on this level, guards take you down so quick, the strats used a very RNG dependent, almost entirely. Going to try to get close to a 8:05 on this.

Archives is a really tough level. I dread the day I have to run that on 007 Classic for the leaderboard, haha. I'll get around to it one day though. 8:05 seems doable though. I bet you could even get sub 8 on a really crazy run.
Metal + Speed = Life

Taken from a full game run attempt.. 8:28 possible if checkpoint load is used at the door.
Nice time. So you're doing full-game runs again? I have a quick question to ask you about the full-game runs. How do you feel about the training mission? Do you think we should just start from selecting Dam from the menus or start at selecting Operative after New Game? I would prefer starting from Dam, but I don't do full-game runs, so it's really up to you.
Metal + Speed = Life
Well.. I've always felt a full game run made sense selecting "new game".. however I do agree the training mission is really irrelevant to the speedrun in general. Does it have you do the training mission on other difficulties when selecting new game as well?
Other then making my runs obsolete ( the time could be 2 minutes faster without it), I have no objection removing it to be honest.. I would agree to starting straight from dam.
When you start from new game, it will always start with the training mission regardless of difficulty. My reason for wanting to skip it is because it's not required to beat the game. From a brand new Wii with no save files or profiles present, you can select Dam right away. It's what the TAS does (which continues without saving). We could take the time off everybody's runs if you wanted to. I think it would make it more fair for people who already have runs on the leaderboard since many of them will probably not do another run.
Metal + Speed = Life
Oh, I didn't know that about it not being required to beat the game, makes sense though.. if the time is just to be taken off he runs I'm fine with it.
Is the loading time between the end of the training mission and the beginning of dam the same as selecting dam at the beginning? I would assume..
The name's Sheldor. InfiniteSheldor.
The run should always start from "New game", hence my problem with you not doing Training in the TAS. It's only two minutes and it's not hard.
Metal + Speed = Life
I agree with the new game thing, but the game doesn't even credit the mission with a completion time at the end of it. Does that matter? In my opinion a level needs a mission time hehe
The game doesn't count it as a level, it's really more like a tutorial. There's no reason to play it if it's not required to beat the game. The TAS skips it because the only goal is to beat the game as quickly as possible. If we re-times the runs, it would probably just start from the first loading screen before Dam starts, since that happens after selecting the level anyway. I know Sheldor is really against the idea, but there's no real reason to play the mission if we aren't forced to. (And the same should be true for GE:Reloaded for 360/PS3, since that game goes by in-game time and training doesn't give you an IGT)
Metal + Speed = Life
Yeah I agree with you fitter.. the ones who moderate the speed run forums should be the ones to decide, I wouldn't have a problem keeping it in the Run but obviously I'd rather not have to do it
I think your opinion is valuable, too. You are actively speedrunning the game and have gotten some great times on both full-game runs and individual levels. Im going ask PurpleSunDeryl what he thinks and we can decide what to do from there. He hasn't done a full run, but he's done a lot of research and helped me out a lot with the TAS, so I think his opinion would be good too.
Metal + Speed = Life
Yeah he has done alot for the game as well
Using NightFire as a precedent, if you can skip the tutorial after creating a new file by going straight to Dam, then timing should start from Dam. It's like NightFire being able to skip over Paris Prelude and go straight to The Exchange, with timing starting on that level. It gets through the game quicker.

Today I'm going to go through the runs on the leaderboard and change the timing to start at the first loading screen before Dam. All future runs will start when Dam is selected in the menus. I think the timing might be slightly different since the menu has to fade out, but it doesn't affect anybody's placement on the leaderboard and is only maybe a second of difference.

edit: I haven't made any changes to the leaderboard yet, but this is what it would look like with the times changed:

JamesBong3333: 1:45:37
InfiniteSheldor: 2:00:14
smartalec0624: 2:14:39
theenglishman: 2:31:50
Lazar181: 3:07:00
Metal + Speed = Life
Lol, even though I haven't done anything, you guys can't imagine the stupid fat grin on my face when I see 1:45 next to my name. The grind for  1:43:xx begins...
It basically takes off 2:01 of the run? So let's say on my splits I delete "training" and subtract 2:01 from my other splits.. everything should be accurate right? ( Just for my reference when comparing against splits)
