If you're asking me, yes, I already bought Stunning Steel. As of right now, I've finished Natus and are about to do Calm Lands, as well as everything else planned. However, this isn't my perfect run. There's this small thing, and that cost me an extra 4 minutes, but overall I did gain 20 minutes.

I've skimmed through all of this just now. I've already thought about the No Encounter from Ghost and Yojimbo a long time ago.

About Yojimbo, I'd say no. First off, the gil isn't the problem, hiring wise. It's the amount of time involved in releasing Zanmato, and the estimated number of gil needed to get it. Bosses take way more than the average fiend. In Int/Pal, Zanmato at 1024 for a boss has a low probability, even if the affection is 255.

Even getting Yojimbo takes longer than getting 30 WoD from Remiem. I've timed it before, but I don't remember the numbers. Unless you can tell me a faster way of defeating Yojimbo without Trio/Sunburst (not part of the challenge obviously). One last thing, how can Yojimbo's Zanmato be faster than Rikku's Trio of 9999? Rikku's Trio is just as fast, if not faster. And if you didn't raise Yuna's stats in Via, you would lose a lot of time against Issaru's Aeons. If you did raise it, charging Yuna or Yojimbo's OD bar would be harder. It's a bad if you do, bad if you don't.

Now lastly, about Ghost's No Encounter armor. This is the first thing that I've thought about before my first run. The chances of it happening is low. I've asked people on gamefaqs again. 15% of getting a Ghost as your first monster. 23% of it actually dropping an equipment (not just armor though). The person that kills it has a 30% of the equipment being for them.

Yet the thing is, I don't even know if it's worth it or not, for my plan that is. Gagazet is home for the bombs which has the Fire Gems, they also have the Fishes with the Water Gem. If I were to just ignore them all, how much time would that cost me? Yet, that means that I won't have to fight Geogaeno (sp?) for his No Encounter.

One last comment, if you were to use Yojimbo only, what would be the plan when you face Yunalesca, Sin (3 battles), and the very last bosses. On top of that, if you decide to hire Yojimbo, I doubt you can have enough gil to bribe the Bombs of Gagazet for their Gems, then what would you do against Yu Yevon's aeons at the end of the game?

This hasn't been bumped in a while but I just wondered how it's going? I hope your still working on it.

I'm getting Final Fantasy XII in 2 weeks so I thought I would replay this. I'm not speed running it per say but I am rushing through the game so it is finished by the time I get FFXII.

All the guides I looked at mention 99 Underdog secrets from Rin when you first go on the airship, which I didn't get because the Primers weren't complete.

I have literally no idea how you can beat Evrae without them! I mean I leveled up much more than average (in speed run terms) and even got Blitzace but I get killed EVERYTIME by Evrae!

I can't see how somebody could run this game without Underdogs secrets as I assume their stats would be much lower than mine.

EDIT

I just watched a video of a NSG game fighting Evrae and well... it was ace. I'm officially terrible at this game lol.
I'm the keeper of Time.
Just to make sure, using the 99 Underdog's Secret thing is considered using outside assistance, right?
Catchin' them all
Yup, that really is too bad, since some bosses could be quite a bit faster with it (Evrae, Natus).

And if you think Evrae is hard, try Natus with NSGNCNSNO, lol, that was fun (still not hard though, Yunalesca ftw).
...
Well, I killed Evrae, wasn't difficult at all really. You can pretty much spam attacks from far away until the last 10,000 and then he goes a bit mental.

Still I wouldn't mind seeing a run with Underdog secrets but it would technically be a New Game+ I think.

I think they would accept this game because even at 13hrs about, I would say 4 of those are cut scenes and they could easily just edit those out.
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
But that would be an direct editig of the Game footage and could be used to edit a few seconds away of every game part after the skipscene.

Btw. even if FFX is annoying as hell cause you cant skip the Cutscenes, i'd like to see them as well.

With that being said, and knowing how many people want to see RPGs played for the story, you should see this site...

http://kalak.dhs.org/phpBB2/

It did have a torrent for all the story elements of FFX including all the scenes a speedrun will skip, it does effectivly skip any oppertunity to show decent gameplay by abusing a cheat device. Though not sure if its still up.

If it isn't, I did download it, but know nothing about torrents so without being told how...

Well, I already finished the challenge. The new time was at 11:49 being on the NA Version with no Underdog Secrets from Rin. I did put it on youtube, but my account got deleted for reason that I don't want to discuss here.

I sent a message to the person that deals with it, but I haven't gotten any response back, so I'm assuming that it's breaking the time limit rule.

I haven't tackled FFX International yet, but I should. At the moment I'm playing/testing with FFXII instead. FFX Internationl, IMHO, would take 1 hour less than the NA Version.

About Evrae, it's actually quite simple.

Rikku starts with her initial HP. For speed purposes, her OD isn't going to be filled before the battle. Tidus and Kimarhi gets HP above 1000.

Must have the following ingredients:
2 Lunar Curtain
1 Smoke Bomb
2 Grenade
2 HP/Magic/Strength Sphere (or)
10 (or so) Al Bhed Potions
4/5 Phoenix Downs

Form 1 - Non Haste
1. Use - > Smoke Bomb
2. Lunar Curtain on Tidus/Kimarhi
3. Lunar Curtain on Tidus/Kimarhi
4. Mix Chaos Grenade (Grenade + Stat Sphere)
5. Evrae's attack misses, then prepares for Poison Breath. Keep defending, you want his Poison Breath to hit you. When it hits, Rikku's OD will be filled, while Tidus and Kimarhi is alive.
6. Use an Al Bhed Potion, then a PD on Rikku
7. Mix Chaos Grenade again.
8. Repeat the process one more time, but don't use Rikku's OD/Chaos Grenade this time. Get away from Evrae by talking to Cid.
9. Replace Rikku with Auron (1500+ HP from battle with Crawler previously)

10. Have everyone keep defending for speed. Cid will use Guided missles to hit Evrae for 2000~ total. Evrae will then use Photon Spray during his turns. When Cid has used up all his Guided Missles, Evrae will cast Haste on himself and attack with Swooping Scythe. Since everyone is on Defend mode, the attack will do weak damage.

11. After that, whoever gets the next turn, switch him out for Rikku. Mix Tallboy (Level 1 Key + Level 4 Key), and that should do it. If it doesn't kill him, you'll have to start over.

There are a few minor luck points. If the 2 Chaos Grenade hit critical, or the Tallboy, you'll get a victory for certain. If not, hope that Cid's Guided Missles did enough damage. The main idea is for at least one of the Mix, out of 3, to get critical.

There is another way to speed it up. That is to not use Cid's help, and hope that 3 Chaos Grenade does lower damage then expected so that Evrae won't haste himself after the 3rd Chaos Grenade, then Tallboy for the win. It will take more luck of course.
...
That is a really good time! I would love to see it, will you be sending to SDA or are you waiting till you get INT version before you send anything?

Your Evrae strategy seems really good, I'm terrible at this game lol. Although in my defense in my first play through I didn't really use Rikku so I didn't know any really good mixes.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I think that if this game cant be beaten in under 7 hours, then someone should do a NSG (no sphere grid) run. I dont care if it is 15 hours or 900 hours, beating this game without a sphere grid deserves praise.

Check Youtube cause someone made NSG boss battle videos without using Trio. The user's name is DarkKefka.
Getting praise for a NSG game? For some people, it's actually a challenge, but the fact is, it's completely easy. After you've done a NSG, you won't even think it's a challenge because the chances are that if you follow the steps, it's simple.

If you go to gamefaqs.com, they'll really mix it up. NSGNCNONS is the one that everyone is stuck on and BFA hasn't been defeated yet. However, NSGNONS and NSGNCNS both have been completed.
NSG - No Sphere Grid
NO - No Overdrive
NS - No Summon
NC - No Customization

And for the FFX Speed Run, I'll post it on youtube after the 10+ Form is actually avaliable. I see no point in doing one for Intertional right now. I haven't gotten any answers if SDA will accept this or not (the people that actually runs this place), so when I do one for Intertional, it will be for fun. Meaning it will take place in future, not near.
wise fwom yo gwave
Post it on google video. Longer to upload, but if you put all the segments together into one, you can just make it as one huge ass video.
Catchin' them all
Make that NSGNCNSNONENNENBB to make matter worse. Still stuck at BFA like all the others. >_< Haven't really tried anymore though, busy with OSGRONINONSCNBB (Own Sphere Grid Rikku Only No Items No Overdrves No Spare Change No Blitz Ball, lol).
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1047752969403086662&hl=en

It's different from youtube, but... I guess this works.
They seem to offer the option to upload more than 100K at once, which is a good thing. The same thing about limiting it to 10 minutes, it's that there is no limit.

However, the quality... is.. special? I can't really say if it's better or worse than youtube.
100% runs=great to watch
Wow, this'll make for a hell of a marathon streaming once all those vids make it up on googlevideo if it doesn't find itself a home on SDA!
Watched the first 14 segments. Very impressive so far, and haven't yet reached the really interesting parts. Let us know when you've uploaded the rest. Thanks.

There are only 23 parts so far, right? I hope I haven't missed any on google video.
By the end of today, it will be up to 37, which is the part about and after Flux. I didn't people were actually following this... since it's 12 hours long... Anyways, thanks for your support.
Everything's better with Magitek
Just letting you know that I'm following this as well. Although, the first video froze about halfway through...not sure whether that was a problem on my end or with the video itself.
Smashboards > You.

If it doesn't make it on SDA hopefully it could end up on archive.org
100% runs=great to watch
Yep, archive.org would be another good place. Still, once however many segments make it all up are SOMEWHERE, I'm gonna wake up at like 6am that day I got a chance and make an epic day for it...pausing it often to take in all the selections and such. It'll be great!

Long runs for games that are usually much longer are AWESOME!

(Message retracted; some parts you auto-sort, some parts you don't so nevermind)

Awesome run.
THE GAME!!
Well, I guess it could be possible. I would reccomend Yojimbo though. Trouble is, you may need a decent amount of Gil. And what if you use the wrong ability? That's 10 hours or so down the drain. Shocked
excuse me mens but i search and where find this videos of speddrun final fantasy X thx
