Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
Does that mean, that the EU/US version and the JP version are gonna be run in different categories because of that? Or is that too minor?
Probably too minor. Don't know for sure, I need to finish the game first =p
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
So you didn't finish the game as of now, and can't say if there are any other differences?
I haven't finished the JAPANESE version. =p

There's definitely less dialogue from what I can tell.
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
Ya.. sure.. the JP version ^^ Didn't want to imply anything else ^^

But from the sound of that, i guess that there's enough reason (difference) to make separate categories.
Fastitocalons need to be out of the ground in order to obtain a Fish Fin, correct?

Killing them in ground or out doesn't have an effect on their drop rate.
Well shit.

Hey guys I havn't replied for a while becuase this whole danger thing I do not know whats going on but this pertains to the emulated version correct?
King of hearts
The emulated version is the same thing as the console version except it's emulated on a PC.  Unlike the PC version, an emulator mimics the way the console works so it is essentially the same thing as playing it on the console.  Using an emulator allows us to take a look at the danger values which you can't do by playing on a real console.  You just need to copy what you do in the emu and do it in the console for the speedrun.
Oh hi, Wasabi, I think you dropped this.

So the run from state: finished (but some to improve) is way back to pre-begining era.

Not so cool.

How does this have to do with the FF8 speedrun? Smiley
Im trying to get the emulator to work so I can figure out this whole danger meter thing.
Which theoretically may or may not work.

An emulator mimics the console, but not down to every last detail.

I do agree though, PlayStation emulators aren't made for simplicity =[

It works exactly the same.  I can reproduce the same RE pattern in the emulator as with the console.

DCrimson when you said you're having emulator problems, did you add the bios(scph1001.bin) to the bios directory?

I'm making this post assuming you own a Playstation, a copy of FFVIII, and have recieved written permission from both Sony and Square-Enix allowing you to own a reproduction of their products.

Well I have a ps1 and a copy of a game. But I dont have Written permission from sony nor Square. I got the Delta and It came with a list of game's. It said in the discription that It came with all the bios for all the games. I lunched the game and it said Bios are incorrect so I looked at them like I said and all the bios were like "blow.me Kill.me Shoot.me" I mean I just want to be able to play the game on my computer.

But I don't know how to go about getting written permission for having the game on my emulator.

I was joking.

The bios you want  is the one I listed.  Use that one.

Besides FFVII from witch the RE Danger Meter usage origins (i guess) has thus far any other game being this dismantled? (Looking past the game directly into the code?)

Just curious

... the bios(scph1001.bin) ...

I think spch101.bin is the last known NTSC BIOS.. got the name from a .dat archive which I reached through No-Intro.. but I don't remember where it was exactly. I have it though, if you can't find it.

A N Y news? Bad news? Good news? Come on, this run is just living on the edge of life. Sth. like coma. And when there is chance to waking up, it dies short after.
If nothing starts up by the time I get in the mood to play an RPG, I'll try. =p
Dum die dum
A rpg? This is THE rpg Mr. Carcinogen 8)
Yes, THE RPG. FFVIII is probably my favorite game of all time. =p
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
For all that someone else would consider holy.. could anyone finally run this game? Geez... its like being in the desert and watching someone wave a bottle of water in front of your nose.

But seriously... just someone do that *g*

It's like a good movie that has been in development for a long time and just won't release. While you don't get the movie, the build up alone is cool. Smiley I mean when you watch the movie, it's just that, a movie, but while it's still being made... Smiley

Gotta appreciate that. Wink
