It should be allowed, because you're not modifying the game code outside of cosmetic changes.
I installed that same loader when my roommate asked me to install FFVIII on his machine... He had the same problem since he was running an NVidia card as well. What is that "expert mode" thingamabob or whatever they called it?
all i can say is to keep a backup on all sensitive data if you're doing things line un/installing. losing lots of precious data from a speedrun might put you in the cutting wrists mood other than that all i can say is that i'm still waiting patiently for this speedrun to solidify. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Oh I actually had a serious computer crash. To bad for the crash I do keep good data. I have the saves and all the footage, ha! Eat that mr. format.
I think I'd not restart just to get the better looking graphics and audio though... hmmm... I did make some small mistakes, but I do not want to go through the fish fins again!
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me
hmm.. crappy sound and graphics, or 5 fish fins in 1 encounter... i guess the choice is obvious ^^
And don't get too worked up about minor mistakes. Sure, it's a speedrun after all... Wasabis run was 8:47... but never official, cause of the missing segment. And besides.. leave someone else a chance to maybe beat your run in the far future ^^
I need to update my sig. It's more like 3 weeks to go now--the due date is July 3. The time probably won't go by fast enough for me. We aren't going to decide on a name until we actually see her.
Back on topic: Maglok, I'm sure neither Mike nor Nate would mind if you PM'ed them about it.
I`m not sure whether this has been already implemented in your planning, though the vid is quite new; it shows how to glitch your buggy past cosmo canyon thus skipping the GI cave. I neither know if those kind of sequence breaks are allowed nor if that would cause problems later ( who knows how the game behaves if you have to visit it second (first) time on the great materia events. Anyway, here`s the youtube link watch?v=2L0xROb2f5U . Have a nice day.
I think you could possibly beat the game in uder 7 hours/...itd be easy simply because the bosses health is bases on your party's totaled average level making most them very easy/
also note that before the final fight you dont need all your abilities back. Id just recommened using Attack-limit Magic Item only
pretty much anything else you use the final boss will abosrb so avoid that. the lower your level the faster the game goes. I think you can possibly beat the game at a level of 11
Hello finalgamer23, am afraid it is not that easy. We know that you don't need to unlock it all and that bosses are easier at lower levels, this is exactly why not leveling up speeds things up true. It is still a very long game though, a lot of dialogue and cutscenes.
Running it asap, while staying the lowest as possible and unlocking only what is needed netted DarkWasabi a 8:47. What would you do that improved upon his time by 1:47? I know the PC version is faster, but still.

first is the password thing for the city on disc 1.. you dont have to catch the minotaur brothers. just get the ID and flee...
also when in a boss fight just use draw on what you can and junction it to what it should be quickly...
in the tower...id recommend doing the sphinx, tiamat, and Krystal only..as they have the least and they wont attack that much
on the adel fight...casting protect and regen on Rinoa makes the fight a but easier and allows you to beat Adel's as quickly overall as she only has 9600-12,300 at lvl1-11

Wrong. The trick discussed in this thread (I suggest you read the rest of it) is to save after taking the train to Deling City. Then, the ID is not set in stone, and you can just load up the save point and give the dude the code. Yay sequence break.

Drawing magic takes CONSIDERABLY longer than refining, and we only need a few spells junctioned for the full run.

After killing Mobile Type B, you get the item that gives Quistis Homing Laser, which can cause 9999 damage in one hit with luck manipulation. Perfect for most of the bosses in Ultimecia's castle. Kill Sphinx, unlock Limit Break. Tri-Point is more easily nuked than Tiamat, thanks to Homing Laser (video).

Again, Homing Laser. Understand that those two videos were done as part of a challenge run, where I only junctioned magic once. The party will not get killed in the actual run, because they will have Curaga junctioned to their HP.
all of that can help a lot...so far..i think a run i did awhile ago..took some luck and manipuation of the game..i think my final time was 7:56 or 8:35
All those things were taken into account with Darkwasabi's 8:47 run. What did you get the time on? PSX or PC? It would be an impressive time.
I have no idea where my time will end up, I am waiting on Mike's verdict on the launcher first.
it was on my psx version...i think some time got gobbled up because my disc had scratches on them and would freeze on some of the ingame cinema scenes..
