Yeah, my bro had to restart. They just wouldn't let him in. I believe normally Bugenhagen is supposed to let your party in, but in the "Nanaki" game, he just walked away  Tongue
BOOM!!!!!

Forward standard-by-ten .
Naming him Nanaki works for me on PSX.  Dunno what your brother's problem was.
There is still no speedrun at all for this game?? I thought this was one of the most popular games in gaming. Weird that no one's completed a speed run by now.
Ben Goldberg
People have done speed runs of the game before, it just hasn't been recorded yet.
Well yeah, that's what I mean. Just surprised that a game as popular as this doesn't have a recorded run yet.

Some games are just too long... who wants to watch a 20 hour video? The tentative limit for a run should be 7-hours, but if things are slightly longer and still interesting they will be posted.

There was an exception on some runs. However, even if you did accomplish this run in lets say 13 hours, would anyone want to watch it? I mean, come on, Final Fantasy VII is one the my favroite games out. However, I would never watch a run for it.

As for the FAQ saying he beat it in 9 hours, that is complete nonsense. If you run past all the battles in the game, you'd eventually die by a boss. The game that made that FAQ is clearly lying, and I'd pay to see someone get that time. Really.
Ben Goldberg
If you read the FAQ, you would clearly see that he's not lying. You really think that the guy would take all the time to make that FAQs, and have it be all lies? That's a pretty ignorant statement to make.
I've seen it before. The thing I don't believe about the run/guide is the bosses, especailly Schizo. If you can beat at the level he's at, hes pretty good. Also, the battle with Safer-Sephiroth. If you did make the run perfect, you still woundn't get under 10 hours. He slowly lowers his time down, so it looks less suspious. I'm not saying it's impossible to beat it in that time, I'm saying you'll die by the bosses unless you level up some. He mentiones, however, that he didn't level up. That is the part I don't believe.
Well, in that guide, doesn't he tell you to save a LOT?  I could see this allowing you to keep trying a boss/area until you get lucky.

As I don't see any recorded run being THAT segmented, not sure how different it would be...

So Umbra, do you want to see a run or not?
Free will!
FF7 is Possible to run at 10 Hours...
My friend has the ingame clock at 10:40 when he finished it...
and that means alot of dying..
Just a question: Does anyone know what consoles are allowed for a FF7 run? I'm asking because I have a PS2 (newer and older), PS1, and an original PSX and I'm planning to speed run this game after I'm done running another game. All help will be appreciated.
I'm addicted to games
It's best to use a ps2 to run any ps1 game because it can load faster.
Wow, fast reply!

So it won't count against my run if I use newer technology (i.e. PS2, not emulators) to make a run for this game?

Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
Well, clearly not if he said use a PS2. However, you have to boot up the OS without a CD. When at the "Browser / System Config" screen, press triangle. Then go to Playstation Drive and swich disc spinning to fast, adn bump mapping to smooth. This makes the disc spin faster, graphics like 0.006% better. =\ And you have to configure these settings every time you want them to be that way, your PS2's default settings are always standard speed and mapping.

Darn. :(. I forgot to do that on my Mega Man Legends run. Theres always next time.

Anyway. I would like to see a FF7 run. I really do not care how long it is either.
I meant to ask: Would speed running FF7 on a PS2 would still be accepted or counted as official?
I'm addicted to games
Nothing is official.
I mean: Would speed running FF7 on a PS2 would still be accepted or counted as official on this site or a site such as TwinGalaxies.com?
Robin! Pull up your pants and get inthe Batmobile!
sorry i havn't been able to go on the internet lately and check my own topic :-[.  progress is going slow with the run, as i'm borrowing the game from a friend and he hasn't beat it yet. plus, i just bought pe2 (parasite eve 2) and i'm getting in to that game. it will take a while to get this run posted, so anyone who wants to see it asap should post tips to go faster.  that means you, mr.haggis, as my computer is freaking out and won't let me access my e-mail.  any help is appreciated.
BOOM!!!!!

seriously how may times can you ask the same question? we've already told you.

use a PS2 or PS1 it doesn't matter, it's up to you.

just don't use an emulator

Radix says a run just out of midgar won't be accepted, like mrhaggis said.  Again, any tips would be nice IF THEY WERE POSTED.  As i just said this morning, my e-mail doesn't work.
Currently needing ideas on games to speedrun
This is quite a large game, if you need tips, why don't you start by telling people what is causing you problems?
Robin! Pull up your pants and get inthe Batmobile!
nothing is causing me problems, i just don't know any tricks to go faster.
