I'll be coming from Finland and it looks like I can get flight tickets from Helsinki to Stockholm and back for <100€. I just don't know the exact dates nor how to get from central Finland to Helsinki and from Stockholm to Skövde (and back). If anyone else from Finland is coming, do let me know.
I'll be travelling from Lund, Skåne if anyone wonders and Dalfen will probably come with me.

About hygiene. If were going to stay there then most of us will probably want to take a shower or two over the course of the marathon. Will we be able to do this at your house Crippe or is there another solution?
meh
I'm very sure that there is one shower at the venue, but since I have no idea where in the building it is etc. I will get back to this when I know for sure Smiley
But I guess my shower could be used as a back-up.

@Kotti: matkahuolto.fi or vr.fi Wink Unimportant side fact: I'll actually be in Finland the week(s) before the marathon, so I'm generally going your way … only my route is Helsinki–Munich–Skövde =D

Swedish and/or Danish railways can be trusted to be on time, can they not? ^^

The media in Sweden is always telling stories about trains that is not in time. I would say SJ (The Swedish traintravel company) have an hard time keeping the time schedule sometimes because the railways have to many trains going all the time. But generally during summertimes, Trains mostly are in time. And if they are not they use to be a little bit late. But that wouldn´t be a problem I guess.
If worst come to worst. SJ use to be kind and pay another flight if you don´t get to your airplain in time.

I did another map, it covers some more parking spaces and Skövde vandrarhem (hostel) is marked out as well. I think it is a good complement to Crippes Map. I also put togheter some travelinformation on Ludendis website. It will be more updated soon

About Showers. We have two Showers in The Valhall area. We will most likely be able to use them all the time. The showering Area (Valhall) is rarely booked during summertime. We are not renting the Valhall area so if it is occupied by another event we are not sure if we will be able to use the Showers during that time. Even if Valhall should be booked by another organizer we will most likely be able to share the showers with them anyways. And in worst case scenario if co-operation is not possible we have a reserve plan. Some of the attendies lives 5 minutes walking away and we can use their showers. Or Crippes or my shower 15 minutes away as a cathastrophe reserveplan.

They do this in Germany, too. No, sorry, everybody says that no DB train is ever on time. I commute with two different trains every day, and frequently use long distance trains, and I must object in the strongest possible terms =D I would realise if trains were frequently late ^^

Not aeroplane, actually; it'll be the night train to Basel in Copenhague that has to wait for me if worst comes to the worst Wink

Im driving from STOCKHOLM. So if anyone needs a ride, just say hey!

Naturally, I'd just prefer to not use public transport if there are alternatives. Or I could at least try to get on the same train as other attending people. To be specific, I'll be coming from Mikkeli by the way.

So as of today I have a ticket for part of my trip: For some weird reason unknown to me (and probably illogic), German railways could only sell me a ticket to Nässjö, so I bought that, and still need the rest of the ticket to Skövde. Arriving at Nässjö C on the 15th at 13:02 and I have 25 min to switch trains before taking the regional to Skövde. Can I buy the ticket for the regional one on-board or are there well-working ticket machines (or maybe even a ticket booth) at the station? (Same thing generally applies for the way back on Sunday at 12:55 in Skövde C to Nässjö)

Is anyone else going to take the same trains? (X2000 leaving Malmö at 11:13, Regional from Nässjö at 13:27 Wednesday; Regional from Skövde at 12:55 and X2000 to Copenhague leaving at 14:55)
Precursor
There should be both an actual ticket booth and working ticket machines.

I should actually figure out how I'm going to get there. I don't think any of us Gothenburgeners actually have access to a car, so I guess train it is. Oh well, just two hours to Skövde.
Seems I'm the only Norwegian going to this gathering, so this is more of a 'confirmation of arrival' post. I'll be arriving Skövde thursday 16th 21:15 by bus, and leaving sunday 19th 13:40 by bus. I have booked a hotel room for friday and saturday (single bed, single room) at the Quality Prisma Hotel, 5-10 min walk from Skövde train station. But I will need to sleep/crash one night at the venue though (thursday night).

I just thought of this one, and I'm going to extend the offer I made to Tigger77 in a private thread to all the rest of Euro-countries.
Since normally exchange bureaus charge a fee when exchanging currency for currency (even if that fee is hidden, i.e. only modified rates of exchange), I asked my bank if they would exchange for free. Turns out they would give me Swedish krones for Euros at the official exchange rate, IF I exchange more than 100 € worth. Now with me and Tigger77 already having agreed, we have busted that limit, so if anyone else wants me to pick up krones for them, and is happy with giving me the equivalent in Euro banknotes cash on the event, please PM me. Please do so before August because I will not be anywhere near my bank from the beginning of August to just before the marathon, and so I cannot tell them I might need more. (They of course don't have krones on storage as opposed to, say, US-Dollars, but they can fetch then within two days or something, given prior notice.)
Please only Euros in exchange for the krones, because I shan't be anywhere near my pound-account in the near future and don't really like the idea of many pounds lying around in my flat for quite some time Wink . Oh and other currencies are not accepted by me at all, because I would have to exchange them into Euros, which would cost me money Wink .
Magical. Flying. Bathtub
I'm flying in on the same flight to Gothenburg as DRSynj (we'll be arriving at 930am on the 13th); I think it looks like we're meeting a couple of the other guys (can't remember who atm) and getting a train to Skovde.
I will be driving from Poland to the Danish coast where I'll be taking a ferry to Sweden and driving to Skövde from then on. I'm trying to get my mum to get the ferry to Göteborg so I'll be able to give someone a ride from there (I heard Toothache needed some help? PS: I only have space for one). I'll be staying at the Billingens stugby camping site from the 14th to 19th of August. The camping site is about 5 km from the Kulturhuset (That's the place where ESA is going to take place, right?).

You sure you're not going to stay at "Kulturhuset" aka the gaming arena. I think everyone else is! And it's free Smiley

Good thing I checked this thread again, I had missed all previous notes about this and was just about to look for a hotel.

We were thinking about taking a train at about lunch time (~2pm) to give us time to meet up and get food if needed. We'll be buying the tickets at the station though so it should be pretty lenient, especially considering trains leave every half hour to hour. I'm planning to meet Neviutz at the station and I'll be with Robo anyway, so if you're going to be around or would just like to meet up in Gothenburg then let us know ^^

This.  The more the merrier! Also, I'm assuming I should have some variation on the theme of "sleeping bag" for Kulturhuset?

I'm going by train from Gothenburg on the same date, as I said earlier just send me a PM and we'll come up with a place to meet at Cheesy (I live there so...)

I'll be going with the train 14:02 Göteborg C - 15:27 Skövde C

Um, for sleeping at Kulturhuset I'll bring an air matress and a sleeping bag and a pillow. I think the amount of matresses avaiable there could be pretty limited so bringing one is not a bad idea? Wink
meh
There are a couple of sofas in the sleeping room too. So I guess people could "take turns" on sleeping there if you don't have anything else to sleep on.

I'm coming with a family. I don't mind sleeping at the gaming area but I don't think the rest of the family would be cool with that... Maybe I can sleep there on my own and get someone to wake me up when it's my turn to play? I don't know, I'll have to talk it over with mum too...

I completely misunderstood/misread what you said at first, somehow I thought you were taking the train from Stockholm. I'd be otherwise okay with going from Gothenburg myself but the flight tickets to Gothenburg cost over twice more than tickets to Stockholm Sad .

I'll be arriving to Stockholm/Arlanda at 11:40 13:15 on the 13th. Apparently my original flight reservation didn't go through.
Borde jag boka plats om jag ska sova i Kulturhuset? Eller är det bara att komma med madrass och kudde?
