to embed ustream first click menu below your stream, then click share at the top of menu that appears. finally, click the url button to copy the stream's url to your clipboard:

then, just paste this url into the post box. it'll automatically appear as a video once you've posted.

to embed ustream videos from ustream's beta interface, first click embed below your stream, then click copy embed to copy the embed code to your clipboard:

then just paste this code into your post.

also, if you've embedded ustream, on-air will appear beside that thread's title in board view when the stream is currently broadcasting.
don't forget to make your thread static when posting your stream!

you can also embed pretty much anything that's inside of an <object> tag. for example, to embed livestream, copy and paste the embed code, then delete everything after the closing </object> tag -- usually this will be a set of div tags (<div></div>) with code between. if you're starting a static thread, i recommend also changing the width and height values to 400 and 320, respectively. this better fits the width of your static post.

here's an example of what to post:

<object width="400" height="320" id="lsplayer" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"><param name="movie" value="http://cdn.livestream.com/grid/LSPlayer.swf?channel=TelemedellinTV&amp;autoPlay=false"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed name="lsplayer" wmode="transparent" src="http://cdn.livestream.com/grid/LSPlayer.swf?channel=TelemedellinTV&amp;autoPlay=false" width="400" height="320" allowScriptAccess="always" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object>

again, you can do this with any object tag so tf will support pretty much any streaming service.

Thanks arkarian.  This should be stickied so it won't get lost in the sea of streamers.

Plus, I didn't know how to make the thread static, so I thought I'd mention it here.  To make your thread static, edit your first post, then click on the checkbox that says Static Thread.  Simple.

even simpler is just to click the "Static" checkbox to the left of the post box when you're creating a new thread. that's also where "Poll" is and mod functions like "Sticky" and "Announce" are.

Some streamers still want to use Ustream's chat (as opposed to Taiga's), but like the static topics feature and want to use it. I've come up what I think is the best code for putting it all together and fitting it into the static topic layout.

If you want to use it, copy and paste this directly into your post. You need to edit two things that appear repeatedly in this code. Both can be found by looking in your own embed code for the stream and IRC.

YOURCHANNELID is a number, and is Ustream's ID number for your stream.
YOURIRCCHANNEL is the internal name of your chatroom. If you haven't changed your topic, that's your channel name. Otherwise, it's your original channel title with all non-alphanumeric characters replaced with a dash/hyphen.

Code:
<object width="465" height="300"><param name="flashvars" value="autoplay=false&amp;brand=embed&amp;cid=YOURCHANNELID&amp;locale=en_US"/><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"/><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"/><param name="movie" value="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/live/1/YOURCHANNELID"/><embed flashvars="autoplay=false&amp;brand=embed&amp;cid=298399&amp;locale=en_US" width="465" height="300" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" src="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/live/1/YOURCHANNELID" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" /></object>
<object width="465" height="300"><param name="flashvars" value="autoplay=true" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="src" value="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/irc.swf?channelId=YOURCHANNELID&brandId=1&channel=#YOURIRCCHANNEL&server=chat1.ustream.tv&locale=en_US" /><embed flashvars="autoplay=true" width="465" height="300" allowfullscreen="true" src="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/irc.swf?channelId=YOURCHANNELID&brandId=1&channel=#YOURIRCCHANNEL&server=chat1.ustream.tv&locale=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" /></object>
Willing to teach you the impossible
About the ustream chat in the forums, not all people come here to SDA to watch the streams, so that would force the broadcaster to have to look and carry out 2 diff convos with 2 different chat streams. Having the ustream chat in the forums, it helps keep all viewers chat in the same place.

For some reason, some people like me think this is easier. But I guess not every one.

Again all hail goes to the B-MAN!

A little addition maybe about finding the "ID". There's 3 IDs in the embed code from ustream. One is the clsid (overly long), one is the cid and one is called id.
You want to have the CID, not the ID. Otherwise your stream embed will nag about a wrong ID and your chat might load some random channel full of spanish people. If that happens, clear your cache if nothing changes after fixing the Id and reloading. Because reloading and forcibly reloading everything still had me seeing the spanish madness.
fwiw, i am eventually planning on having it work copy-pasting the ustream chat code from ustream without having to do anything manually. i'm trying to get some performance issues sorted out first before i make any other changes to the code.

then, after that, i'll deploy the irc integration, so the thread and the ustream chat contain the same messages. you will still be able to embed the ustream chat at that point, but it may be easier to just forgo it entirely, since no one will be missing anything by it not being embedded on the page.

Hmm, in my ustream thread, I can't un-static my thread. Is it just me being dumb, or is that not currently possible in taiga?

For some odd reason after I embedded the ustream, I still do not get on-air right next to my topic name, even when I am actually streaming.

I would add the embed script on here if I knew how to prevent the actual player displaying, which I use on my Live stream SDA page.

i have the same problem.

here is my code.

Code:
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="480" height="296" id="utv400769"><param name="flashvars" value="autoplay=false&amp;brand=embed&amp;cid=1057510&amp;v3=1"/><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"/><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"/><param name="movie" value="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/viewer.swf"/><embed flashvars="autoplay=false&amp;brand=embed&amp;cid=1057510&amp;v3=1" width="480" height="296" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" id="utv400769" name="utv_n_902165" src="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/viewer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" /></object><br /><a href="http://www.ustream.tv/" style="padding: 2px 0px 4px; width: 400px; background: #ffffff; display: block; color: #000000; font-weight: normal; font-size: 10px; text-decoration: underline; text-align: center;" target="_blank">Live streaming video by Ustream</a>

I embedded my Ustream but the on air does not appear to be working. Is there some lag to it or did I do something wrong?

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/#####

Where ##### is your channel id. This works like a youtube link and will bring up the player automatically and tell taiga if you're streaming. You don't need to embed the stream using any code.

Edit: You can find your channel id in the embed code if you don't know it. Look for "cid=" and put the number that follows

edit2: it does actually take a few minutes for taiga to catch on to your stream
That worked. Thank you.

And yes it took over 5 minutes for taiga to pick up the live status.

arkarian if you see this can you update the OP with the info from dballin? Thank you.
One more thing: I would like to embed the chat stream below the video stream so I can look at the forum and chat on the same page (like on the Tri Harder Nexx Time page). I can not get working embed code though from searching through the related posts. If someone could point me to a post that has whatever code I need I would appreciate it.

Copy and paste this below your ustream link. You missed bmn's post up there ^^ I already edited in the necessary info so it should work just fine.

Code:
<object width="465" height="300"><param name="flashvars" value="autoplay=true" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="src" value="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/irc.swf?channelId=8304379&brandId=1&channel=#speed-running&server=chat1.ustream.tv&locale=en_US" /><embed flashvars="autoplay=true" width="465" height="300" allowfullscreen="true" src="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/irc.swf?channelId=8304379&brandId=1&channel=#speed-running&server=chat1.ustream.tv&locale=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" /></object>

I tried that but it shows "xkcd" as the chat heading and messages I type on my ustream page don't come through on the forum version of the chat.

EDIT: Nevermind. opera must be caching something. It's working. Thank you.
It seems like embedding streams with the http://www.ustream.tv/channel/##### forces 4:3 aspect ratio even though my stream is 16:9. Is there anyway around that?
Is there any way to get this working from Twitch? I don't actually see an id# anywhere in the share links from Twitch. Am I looking in the wrong place?
