I've tested a few of these. for the most part they work but this trick just isn't consistent yet. But there are some place in Factory that are easy to clip, all the glass walls are really flimsy and can be clipped to save a lot of travel time. I'll be working on a new route once we stop finding so many new things lol. Sub 7 will be done Smiley

I told you thumbsup

Also low% is now a considerable category. Just orange clip into Aztec, free Lanky, get key 3, free Chunky, get to Forest early and get key 5, free Diddy and Tiny in Castle, get key 8 and fight K. Rool.
yea i actually did a Low% as soon as this was found lol. got 2:24:44, I think Kosmicd just did it and got a little over an hour. Fungi early is hard...
Please, it isn't low% unless you skip Key 5.

Anyways it seems like LTVW can clip any wall in a sufficiently large (read: laggy) area. I've yet to find a place where I couldn't do it (that is not a small compact area)...some any% useful ones include clipping OoB in the first area of Japes, clipping OoB in many different places before the guitar-wall in Aztec (I think I've done it in at least 6 different locations), clipping OoB next to Cranky in Aztec (puts you right next to Lanky's temple), clipping OoB in the first room of Factory (faster than window clip), clipping OoB in Factory lobby (alternative to skipping B. Locker), clipping on top of the slopes in Helm, and probably some I'm forgetting...

A laggier camera angle can help a lot depending on the clip in question and widescreen seems like it might help too (although it makes non-tricks lag a bit more so it might not be worth it). The trick in general seems pretty inconsistent, but I've found a setup for Aztec Early that uses a damage boost that seems to work most if not all of the time if you do it properly. Ideally we'd find more damage setups since kicking is much more difficult to do the same way every time. Chimpy charge is also very good for clipping using this, and more consistent than clipping, but we're trying to completely avoid Diddy outside of buying moves/freeing Tiny/K Rool as he is significantly slower than DK with movement.

Orange management is now a big deal and it can kill runs very easily, especially Factory Early after the reset (which brings Oranges to 10) since you only have 3 tries before it is completely over.
Found this the other day, not super consistent but i like it better than normal guitar skip. You can do it a lot faster than in the video and you can get all the way to cranky's if you do it correctly.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Nice find. With this new glitch, I think 9-tag max% would be an interesting category.
Hey, I'm just a random dude trying out some of the speedrunning tricks in this game, and so far I've tried the FWG twice, and both times it gave me the simian slam, but no guns/sniper scope/homing ammo. What am I doing wrong?
Seems like you entered Battle Arena instead of Monkey Smash.
Oh, I probably did do that. I didn't think which mode you picked mattered. Tried it again and got it to work with this new-found knowledge. Thanks!
messed around for about an hour and found all these lol. Not sure if the japes ones were known or not.

The current record run. Best time with deaths: Single-segment 4:26 by Tom 'rdrunner' Votava on 2006-11-15.

is that 4 hours and 26 minutes or 4 minutes 26 seconds? never played this game so not sure.

alright thank you. thinking of picking this game up to speed run. it will be my first speed run ever. Is there alot of people speed running this game? and is the 4H26M a record that almost cant be beaten?

The current record is somewhere around 45 minutes.  For 100%, the record is slightly over 7 hours.  I don't really know where Votava's run falls in terms of category now.  It was somewhat "glitchless", but it still used a few tricks IIRC.  Someone else will chime in with accurate clarification about what category his run actually is.  Haha.
That run is just so old that it's kinda obsolete. It was any% at the time it was ran but now it's not really anything. There are a decent number of ppl running this game and it's one the easier games to learn imo. DKSpeedruns.com has the major basic tricks explained and has a tutorial for any% but it's slightly outdated. if you have any questions feel free to ask on here and im sure you'll get an answer, that's how i started out Smiley
Glitched any% is a little under an hour.

The most sensible non-glitched any% category for the game is probably no-large-skips, which SDA already has a definition for (no entering Hideout Helm without the appropriate number of golden bananas, no entering the final boss fight with K.Rool's without all the keys, no entering boss fights without the correct number of regular bananas). The definition seems a little lenient to me (my personal no-large-skips definition would probably disallow entering any levels without the appropriate number of keys and golden bananas, but that'd likely significantly increase the amount of backtracking / the need to glitch within levels to avoid backtracking).

Going to levels out of order isn't the same as skipping them.

It does let you skip things that would otherwise be required, though. So, e.g. you could do Japes collecting no gold bananas if you really wanted to, via unlocking Diddy via King Kut Out, and it still would count as no-large-skips any%. (It probably wouldn't be faster, but it would be possible. And it's not even 100% obvious that it's slower.)

(That is, unless you need too many bananas to get into that fight without Diddy unlocked and without glitching through the boss door. I can't remember offhand how many it takes.)
Caution: This user contains Kana ^_^
You need 60 Bananes to get into the first boss battle unless there are some severe version differences between PAL and NTSC versions. 60 is under 100 so that would probably mean you don't need to get any Diddy bananas.
I don't know the route and the banana placements well enough off the top of my head to say if you would be going out of your way to get them or not.
And of course this all is assuming the gaming guide is correct ^^'

I was talking about the glitch where you can unlock any of the Kongs via exiting the King Kut Out fight (in Creepy Castle) at the right moment, if you somehow manage to get there without them. That's much later in the game, but with all the sequence breaks that have been discovered you can go there before Japes if you feel like it. So the question was whether the remaining 4 Kongs could get enough bananas to unlock it without Diddy's aid.

(This is all probably academic, because this route doesn't sound like a particularly efficient one at all. Too much backtracking if you're not glitching into Helm, most likely.)

Diddy is required to free Tiny and you need 400 bananas to open the Kutout fight normally so since I believe clipping past boss doors is considered a major skip that restriction alone would prevent the runner from using a route such as this.
Ah, thanks. There's indeed not enough bananas to open the boss door without Diddy's help. So the any% route is probably reasonably sane after all.

Also tons of orange clip stuff has been found and very little documented outside of stream recordings and chat logs...have fun future generations (luckily most of this stuff is easy to find on your own...seriously just throw oranges and you will destroy this game).
Started working on a new 101% route with the Orange Clips. They really are everywhere. worked out Japes 1 and Japes 2 and saved a minute already, Castle will be amazing since it lags so bad on it's own anyway :p I really wish I could clip into the Tree with Chunky though. would save the Barrel Blast and a lot of time...
New 101% Route is finished with all of the Orange Lag tricks that I thought were easy enough to pull off in a run along with some other route changes such as Aztec 2 being after Fungi because the Aztec Vulture with Lanky is about 30 seconds faster with Homing ammo. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions..
