The route could use a facelift, but I could also just put all the route videos into a playlist and have a link to it(with comments explaining cut out stuff(ex: Yup I sucked at this part to)) since just watching would probably be more helpful than reading it in essay form. I will be uploading the completed run so it would be switched to that instead of continuing to use this ongoing crapfest. embarassed

Since I missed your comments earlier I will just address them now.
- There must be a video missing from the R&D section. The only things worth noting though are exitwarping to save time after the car race and doing Chunky last so that you can exit warp from the toy monsters room.

- I'm not getting the Diddy bananas on the path to Funkys period. There is a extra bunch I can get on the way down the tower that I forgot was there that they can be replaced with regardless.

- As for DK Arcade, I have played it quite a bit and the way I do the last round, though most likely not optimal in a perfect luck situation seems to be fastest consistently. I think doing the bottom four first helps to lure the fireballs down to the bottom to make removing the top 4 blocks easier and everytime I clear one side first the fireballs just constantly harass me on the other side leading to slower times. If there were no fireballs clearing one whole side and then the other would be faster though.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
There were some new STVWs in there. Cool. Cheesy And that was a nice way to use the trick to fire your gun while swimming. Also, perhaps it's faster to get the coin above the water first in Splish-Splash Salvage, since it takes a few seconds to swim back to the top after going all the way down. Or is the rope you need to grab not lowered until you get the other coins? I don't remember.

As for the route, I think a written route is better for planning and quick reference, while a video is useful for showing people exactly what you mean in the written route. So it would be best to have both.
The ropes don't appear in Splish Splash Salvage until you get the rest of the coins. I also need to try to figure out how to make sure that I get the chance to shoot the balloon from the waters surface instead of having the waves submerge me.
Status on my progress: I went through my very first single segment playthrough, with a time of 8:54. I wasted over 30 minutes in hideout helm since I'm bad and can't work with 14 minutes half of the time; lost 12 minutes in fungi forest,  6 minutes in frantic factory, aztec 2 I lost like 3 or 4 minutes, my creepy castle was terrible and I forgot the route kinda sorta, and just other mistakes.

so yeah, sub 8 is my current goal at the moment. I forget what kind of time lefty was shooting for? Ringrush said 7:15 or something like that a while ago
At this point I'm not really sure what a time goal would be, all I can really say is my best is 7:27, but that is with segmented save-warping.
Here we go again...

Part 18

- I forgot to grab the 15 Tiny bananas from the room with Lanky's Kasplat. OOPS Grin
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
It might be faster to grab the bunch at 3:31 by breaking the chest with Enguarde. Also, it might be faster to grab the GB after that with Enguarde and swim over to the tag barrel with him.
I'm pretty sure that Enguarde can't pick up any GBs, including Lanky's.

You wait for the ship for about 18 seconds. You could easily get at least one of the banana bunches with Lanky during this time.

- You're right about Enguarde not being able to pick up any of Lanky's items.
- Getting a banana bunch before the ship to save time isn't realistic since I have no idea where the ship is when I'm underwater. What should have happened is that I could have went to the high ledge on the other side which probably would have allowed me to jump onto the ship earlier.

I've put in a decent bit of time on DK Arcade and there seems to be a bit of a paradox. On the 100m level as far as clearing the left side first goes, it certainly haas the potential to be faster since all of my fastest times have come doing it that way, but doing the bottom four first really does seem to give me more consistent luck with the fireballs(probably because there is a very convenient hammer that I can use to clear traffic if needed) and thus my slowest times have come after clearing the left side first as well.

I have also decided that I'm to finish a couple full playthroughs before finishing the video route demo so that the play quality at least looks decent. That being said there is a section of a recording of Crystal Caves I may post just to show how annoying a certain zinger can be. Angry Angry Angry

The one by the tag barrel closest to Tiny's blueprint, yeah don't be surprised to see me kill it(most likely by instrument since shooting it may be tricky as I'm pretty sure its one of the fast moving ones) just to make sure it doesn't knock me into the damn river. Having some homing ammo would also be helpful but I'm pretty sure theres no place where it can be conveniently picked up. I have had it drop an orange on me at the exact moment I exited the tag barrel, knocking me in the river in the process. Angry Angry Angry
hey all, im just starting out trying to learn this game. i've already completed a couple any% runs and i was just wondering where i could find the most up to date written route of 100%(101) if there is one. it caught my interest and thought it would be cool to try
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Hi. I don't think Lefty has posted the full route he's currently using. Here's a writeup from 9/02/10:

http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/donkey_kong_641038.html#msg291658

Lefty has also started posting videos of his current route. They show the route from the beginning of the game through Gloomy Galleon. The videos start at this post:

ok cool, thanks alot. ill start walking through it and see how it goes.
UPDATE: My 9 day break starts(I think next Tuesday) so its almost Go Time in hopefully finishing this once and for all. Some minor notes.

- I still can't do the Japes Lobby entry GB get cutscene 100%. Unless someone thinks that it is really important, I don't plan to restart a 7 hour plus run if I don't get it.

- The reason I don't care if I miss that cutscene skip is that I will most likely have to restart several times in order to get a attempt where I don't screw up the jump around the fence to get into Diddy's minecart ride without charging the switch(I REALLLLLLY HATE THAT JUMP).

- There are some shots in the blast barrel courses that I will be taking an extra second to make sure to make sure I make them since I just can't seem to make them 100%. I'm sure you can guess which ones I'm refering to.

- The banana bunch at the end of the Galleon Blast Barrel course is still a bitch to try to get so I came up with a backup plan. If I miss it I will just get his balloon from the area with the treasure chests and skip the bananas in the five door ship. Hopefully I will get lucky and hit the shot.

I don't have a target time because I do much better at this game when I'm not trying to beat some arbitrary time goal. At this point I won't need clock confirmation to know if I get a good run or not.
Good luck.
ive been trying the aztec lobby early glitch and really cannot figure out what i'm doing wrong. also does anyone have any pointers on c-up clips?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Good luck, lefty. Remember not to beat yourself up over small mistakes in such a long run.

My general advice for the C-up glitch is here. Is there anything in particular you're having trouble with?
zzzzzzzzzz
I didn't know that page existed.  cfox, I'd also recommend watching Ringrush's series of videos that starts here:    They seem helpful.

Yeah, lets hope I can avoid the inevitable big ugly one. I actually have a strategy for the SUPER-ANNOYING Forest Lobby fairy that lets me get the photo in about 0.2 seconds(as opposed to 2+minutes)  if it works. Not sure how reliable it is but I'm 3 for 3 so far. I also went 16 for 16 practicing the library break-in last night.
First attempt result: Aborted after Creepy Castle. Time was 6:35. If I had finished it out and did a decent job(which considering the lack of remaining difficulty would not be to much to ask I probably would have finished around 7:40, maybe slightly less). I think I decided about halfway through castle that there was no way in hell I would be submitting this(to many mistakes). My personal favorite was when I was jumping down to the platform with Tiny's Castle Kasplat I hit the wrong button and buttstomped into the abyss.
i can just never time pressing C-up and cannot clip consistently at all. and yes i've watched all of ringrush's vides before and they were very helpful. I got a 59:07 any% but i still fail runs on the simple boss c-up clips because i cannot get them very easily Sad

Actually I need to find some way to stream one of these runs so all 2 of the viewers can hear me cuss out Squacks during the darkroom sequence in Fungi Forest. Seriously how hard is it to hold a FUCKING FLASHLIGHT. I aslo don't know why he sends you on extremly dangerous minecart rides when he could just give you the GB in the first place(squacks is a inside man working for K Rool).

And that's funny, I always thought the same thing about that damn bird.  He always seemed disappointed that you made it...
