I just want to say that this is exactly the kind of discussion that I want about incentives like this Smiley

I honestly don't know which way would work better (text fixed as English, or text as a one-time European-language incentive). There are strong arguments each way, and I really appreciate the input from the people who are giving it. I'm open to being persuaded either way, and I appreciate the time and effort of the people who have typed up their thoughts.

If it makes sense, I guess I could loan you my japanese ps2 (they really aren't that expensive VG). I wouldn't miss it for the length of time it took me to send it to you, the duration of the event, and then to get it back I'm sure. Bonus points if I don't have to ship it to Canada though.

After significant thought and consideration on the matter, I think that the best bet for language wars is:

(1) Any voice acting is fixed in English, or English-French bidding wars; and,
(2) Any text is English-French bidding wars, either fixed at the start or rolling (depending on the game mechanics).

Sorry to viewers of other languages, but I think this choice best reflects the English/French bilingual nature of the marathon. It allows for some bidding on language, but prevents alienation of speakers of our two major languages.

There isn't an easy way to allow multiple non-owners to edit a single post or thread; but we can change the owner of the 1st post if you want to turn it over to someone else while you're busy in April. Also, forum admins (green names) can edit any post they want to.

So, we have a schedule. We're just going through it at the moment to correct all the math. Seriously, if anyone has a base-60 calculator, to actually add minutes and hours and get a meaningful result, I'd hug you. This is something like our 8th revision of the schedule, having made no more changes than those necessary to correct our crappy math Smiley

Speaking of media, we have confirmation from Global News that they will be covering C4L 2014.

(And for the non-Canadians reading this: that's one of the three largest TV media outlets in Canada, the other two being CTV and CBC.)

Yes, one of the three largest media stations in the country will be covering us (at least locally, in Edmonton) on the morning news.

i dont know if i can show based on funds. Depends on how the next two months go and what the costs are of staying there. Plane Ticket might be the back b reaker.

The schedule works well for me. It's not a near 12-hour shift from my normal circadian rhythms like last time, and even if I do have to stay up really late to commentate for pokemon, as an insomniac I'm good at that.

I didn't mention it before for various reasons, but I am also capable of commentating for Chrono Trigger (like half the people who will be there, no doubt Tongue

) and FFX (like last time). Though in the latter case I'd almost certainly not stick around for the entire run so that I could get some sleep in before Oblivion, and for CT I'd definitely give Essentia and Obdajr priority if they wanted the couch. Feel free to add or not add me to either game at your discretion.

In Rane's case could you switch times slots with him Poxnor? Since his game and yours both estimate at 1:30? Also if I'm right before Duckfist and he wants to jump in on couch commentary he's more than welcome too since he also knows quite a bit about Evermore. Again I'll have to get in touch with FFGamer Regarding Terranigma as well since I don't think he's seen me ask him about commentary on that.

Thanks very much for preparing the schedule! 2:50 is obviously the dead of night for us, but I run weird hours and don't really have a problem with it. Hopefully AlecK and Magicfreak won't mind being up that late. Smiley

Mmm...anyone up for a time switch assuming that's okay? I don't tend to do any streaming/running that late and I don't want fatigue to have an impact on my performance.

EDIT: Also, forgot to respond. Yes, Poxnor, it's a rolling incentive. The ability's name can be changed on the go. 16 Chars is the limit. Traditional alphabet with a few symbols.

The absolute earliest I can get off work on Tuesday is 9:30 pm, so even if I go directly to the airport after work, I still won't be there until Wednesday morning.

I haven't even bought plane tickets yet, so I don't know exactly what time on Wednesday I will get there.

Plays games quickly. Eventually.

Oh god, I hate being difficult, but I won't be able to start my run at midnight. I understand I'm running an obscure game, so we need to keep it away from the primetime slots; but I have a pretty rigid sleep pattern. I'm happy to wake up super early for a run; say 6am onwards, but I'd like to be well and truly done by say 2 or 3am, if I was to start late.

Also, I might have to pull out of commentary for FFVI and FFVII. I haven't had as much of a chance as I'd hoped to learn the routes, so I'll be totally outclassed by the epic couch crew set for those runs, hehe.

Donation incentives for FF3:

- Name donations. There are 4 names, each has a 6 character limit. The first 2 names must be exactly 6 characters in length. Weird, I know, but if those names have empty spaces, the max inventory glitch won't work right because they're treated as "0" values in memory, and items will accidentally be dropped into them thinking they're empty inventory slots. ...yeah.

Acceptable characters to use for names in this translated version:

EDIT: When can we be certain about the hotel? I'm hesitant to throw down for plane tickets and a hotel room until we're completely finalized.
