We require more minerals
Going to narrow my pitches down to the single one.

Chrono Cross
- PS1 (Played on PS2 Slim)
- Any%: (8:30:00) or 100%/All Characters (11:00:00)
[ I won't be really grinding out practice until after AGDQ, these could come down. ]
- Incentives: All characters can be named but only 14 are used during the run, probably best to restrict it so we don't name 44 characters. Donations for 100%/All Characters?
- Great game with awesome music that's never been featured in a marathon.
Thinker & Dreamer
Star Ocean 3 would be my most wanted game since I have the most practice with it, and my other games are still wanted.
I want off the ride....
just going to state. I got a "repro" of English Sweet Home. So thats good for Donation Incentives of 5 names.
No more than 6 letters each! (Technically 5 if we want to have the space in the text but who cares?). Will state i have personal default names for each character for when I do my own run (outside of pressing start for defaults).

Plays games quickly. Eventually.
Quote from Potato Handle:
Game 1: Lost Odyssey
System: Xbox 360
Estimate: 8:30:00 (4 discs, Disc 1: 2:00:00, Disc 2: 1:30:00, Disc 3: 2:10:00, Disc 4: 2:50:00)
Info: Excellent 360-exclusive PS1-era-FF-style JRPG made by the bulk of the old-school Final Fantasy crew (Uematsu, Sakaguchi, etc.) after they bailed out after FFX.
Upsides: No grinding, no big gaps between bosses, mostly skippable cutscenes, fast movement, amazing visuals, would appeal to fans of FF games even if they've never seen it before.
Downside: See "Estimate". Could be split up though. Relatively obscure. Still a decent slathering of cutscene mashing, I will also likely be dying from hypothermia during the run. #BlameCanada
Incentives: Several funny cutscenes to play, optional bosses, Arena-style "Backyard" battles, out of bounds glitch demonstration.

Game 2: Tomb Raider (2013)
System: Xbox 360
Estimate: 2:30:00
Info: Recently released reboot and prequel of the Tomb Raider series.
Upsides: There probably isn't a 5-minute section of the game outside the intro that doesn't have a skip or glitch of some kind in it. Excellent visuals, very fast-paced, no notable slow sections minus a couple of ~1-minute cutscenes, lots of glitch variety. Popular, well-recieved and recent.
Downside: So many skips and glitches to explain that it may impede donation reading. R rated game, most of the bad stuff is skipped, but there will be one or two F bombs and some blood and visible wounds early-on. Not a "pure" RPG; it comfortably qualifies as Action/Adventure with RPG elements though (Like Zelda games), if those are accepted.
Incentives: Out of Bounds glitches, other weird visual glitches, probably 100% too (Still learning 100% route).

Sorry to be a pain, I'm just quoting myself because my recent post (With Wonder Boy) has been added to the games list, but my original 2 (Which were skipped over at the time, because I wasn't sure if I could make it.) haven't. Just making sure they don't get forgotten, because they are my "main" submissions.
I am interested in attending, and perhaps commenting on Tales of Xillia and/or Star Ocean 4. Not sure if there's anything else I might want to comment on as of yet.

I'd just like to note that I can vouch for him knowing the route for SO4 (for commentary purposes) - he helped me with the routing of the game (a bunch of the testing, different strats, etc... Including the one that saved probably 10-15 minutes on the final boss and actually you know, made it reliable :P).

Edit: Just wanted to also note that this was more to vouch for him since he's not really around the forums often (though he is around my chat often enough) :3
Quote from Poxnor:
for people who have suggested multiple games, give some thought to which you think is their best game, and the insanely concise (i.e., one or two sentences) reasons why.

I only have two games and my second game is really short - especially for an rpg - but I'll go ahead and say that it will take me about a day or so to learn what I still need to learn for each game (Mass Effect and Morrowind); everything else is consistency and optimization.
Moo! Flap! Hug!
First post updated.  If I missed your game suggestions, your attendance, or anything of the sort, please let me know.

Reviewing, Round One

Deadline: by the end of Monday, 7 October 2013.

Objective: Round one is designed to pare down the games list to a size that's more easily manageable for the track reviewers in round two.  In other words, less work when it comes time to having to make the "hard decision" cuts.

Philosophy: One goal of C4L 2014 is to give everyone who wants to play a chance to play a game.  Looking at that games list, I don't think that's happening.  However, I want to remain as true as possible to this philosophy by spreading the love insofar as possible.  To that end, we're paring each person down to one game in round one (with exceptions being made only if there's some funny interplay of players in multiplayer games).

To participate in the round one review, send me a PM on SDA with the subject "C4L 2014 - Round One".  Round one will address the following two questions only.

(1) For participants with multiple games suggested, which game do you think is their best marathon game (based on watchability, freshness, donation incentives, etc.)?

(2) Is there anyone who has suggested a game that should not be played at the marathon for patent and obvious reasons (e.g., person is not actually an SDA member, the runner has caused significant interpersonal issues at a previous event, etc.)?  I'm aware that this could be a touchy subject; frankly, I hope not to receive a single PM on this question naming anyone other than me as a culprit.  But, I'd rather find out about this sort of thing sooner rather than later, and I want to be transparent about soliciting this sort of information.

Please keep your answers to question #1 to no more than two sentences per multi-game runner (i.e., write 1-2 sentences about each runner where you have an opinion on his/her multiple games).

The responses I get to question #1 will be put in this thread simultaneously at the end of the review period, but they will be anonymous.  Responses I get to question #2 will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis as I feel appropriate (and, as I said, I'd be a very happy person if I didn't get any of those).

Reviewing, Round Two

If you would like to be a track reviewer in round two, fire me a PM titled "C4L 2014 - Round Two".  I've been thinking the tracks could be Western RPGs, Eastern RPGs, and FF.  But, I'm not set on that.  If you have a better classification system in mind, toss that into the PM or drop it in this thread, heh.

Kupo!
One question regarding round one (just in case I'm missing something here): Want us to just answer the questions in the first PM we send you (rather than any later ones in the same PM thread)?

Also, for any reviewers - Star Ocean 4 is my first priority for what I'd like to play.
Moo! Flap! Hug!
Yeah, just dump your answers into the first post of a new PM.  So, it could look like:
Quote:
Runner X: best game suggested was Final Fantasy XXIV, because it has some great donation incentives. Also, FF XXV has some slow parts, so I think XXIV is better.

Runner Y: I like Star Ocean 14, because there's less grinding.  Star Ocean 16 and Adventures of Mooing Cows both have long grind-fests.

Runner Z: ...
Kupo!
Just noticed this as well while going through the list - sunglasses% was put on SO4 instead of Xillia (where it'd actually happen). Just a small thing I thought I'd point out, in case it is relevant to those doing the reviews. Tongue
Moo! Flap! Hug!
rinimt: fixed.

Allow me, please, to most humbly say to all of you: holy hell -- 40 participants from six countries, trying to help one amazing cause.  I am incredibly humbled before your personal generosity and bloody amazing skills.
wow poxnor thats a lot i do hope that c4l gets big for the cause it does and personally i like c4l over most since my dad is a diabetic and helping a research group that works on trying to help diabetics is a plus.
Everything's better with Magitek
Um, the first post is missing most of the game suggestions from page 10 (unless I'm missing something).
Moo! Flap! Hug!
Yes, yes it is. I somehow skipped an entire page Tongue

Will fix that later today. Thanks!

Caution: This user contains Kana ^_^
If we are participating in Round One, should we answer for every runner, or is it allowed to narrow it down to runners/suggestions, where we feel most competent, answering?
Also, I'm on page 10, so that'll be fixed, right? ^^
Moo! Flap! Hug!
Answer for as many or as few as you want to.

And yeah, I'll fix the p.10 mistake over lunch, so that'll be corrected within a few hours.
that Metroidvania guy
If Adventures of Mooing Cows doesn't make it in, I'll be extremely disappointed.
hey poxnor i had looked at the list and i guess i forgot to tell you what system the game be on its xbox360. and this is looking to be a great list of games
Sadly, I have to back off my offer of playing Final Fantasy Tactics. My wife and I found out we are expecting our second child around the first or second week of May, so I definitely will not be able to attend.

Withhelde, feel free to take FFT back, if you so desire.

Now the potential games list is finalised, here's some more games I could commentate on if I don't fall asleep:
Lost Odyssey, TES 4: Oblivion, Suikoden, FF4, FF7, FF8, FF9, FF10, Shadowrun
Kupo!
Going to re-offer myself for Lost Odyssey commentary. Volunteered before but Spud wasn't sure if he could attend back then Tongue
