Phantasy Star Online episode I and II - System: Gamecube - Time: 2:00:00 any% glitched episode 1, 3:30:00 any% no glitch episode 1 or 4:00:00? any% glitched ep2 - The game that defined a generation of online play for console and how busted it was. Really well-known for it's carnation on the Dreamcast and version 3 for the Gamecube is probably the most known. - Donations include character name and character creation (costume basically). - A little tedious, but the glitches and deep history of the game really helps a lot with dealing with that issue.
Sorry for the half-witted responses on the thread lately. Brain is...uhh...slop.
Quick thought: is Phantasy Star Online an MMO, or something else where we would be relying on other servers to be running; or, even worse, on the play and/or conduct of other players? Because if so (especially on the latter point), that definitely wouldn't be appropriate for a marathon. Or am I misunderstanding what Phantasy Star Online is?

Name: The Genius of Sappheiros Platform: PC Estimate: 6:45:00
The Run: A Touhou RPG, arguably the second-most known of its kind. With skippable cutscenes, most of the run becomes gameplay - demolishing a hard turn-based RPG at that. Various strategies are employed throughout this run, some even improv depending on good drops. And there's enemy dodges on the map, though they're just as often obliterated for experience along the way...
Downsides: There's a luck factor in this run, though at the same time surprisingly secure. And, it's nothing that better strats can't fix. Couch commentators/people who know the game could be difficult to get, if that's any important - this isn't to say it's an unknown game, though.
Incentives: Material goods would likely have to be a donation incentive; there's the possibility of lead character choice - though the catch is they need to be in the party to be the lead character, and some see more use than others. Some optional minibosses can be incentives as well.
Well, concidering that no one has sren System run this game, nor has anyone routed this game or can even imagine how a time can be that low, makes that suggestion a bit iffy.
I've been in the loop on the routing process (a bit of the discussion related to it has happened on the off hours in my stream chat) - while I'm not intricately familiar with the details of the route, I can say with confidence that it has been routed. Mokou hype~
Withhelde: Those decisions are for myself, in conjunction with the reviewers, to make -- not you. If you have concerns about someone's time estimate, message me in private instead of trying to stir up drama on a public thread.
I'm sorry if it seems like drama, but I am just excited for this even though no one knows about it, especially since would be sort of a big thing in the community
Sakegeist: Added you and your game to the list. And thanks, puwexil
Felly, Withhelde: I'll wait until I hear something more definitive from the two of you regarding what you'd like, and then I'll update the first post accordingly.
Keypaladin: There are almost always commentary openings (if we have too many commentators for a game, we'll sort that out in a few months, and try to ensure that everyone who wants it gets commentary time). Added you to the requested games.
Alko: Weil ich zivilisiert bin!
Haha...sorry, I've been so preoccupied with real life stuff that I've not come back on here >.<
Withhelde: I have my copy of BoF5, have had it since forever. If anything, just a simple 1/256 ---> 1/4 (aka 100%) will work for the time being.
Poxnor: Well the first thing is I'm waiting to get something definitive job wise. I know its not until May...but for now, all I can do is just route and practice.
I figured I'd put this in before I forget and rush at the last minute.
Game 1: Ancient Ys Vanished: Ys Omen (Ys 1) System: PC (Steam) Estimate: 1:00:00 Info: A remake of a remake of a old Japanese PC game. No attack button, attacks are done by slamming face first into the enemy. This version is the Steam version, which has 2 graphical settings and 3 soundtrack settings. Downside: None that I can think of. Incentives: Donation for graphic setting (2001 Complete vs 2009 Chronicle) Donation (war?) for audio setting (PC-88 Original vs Complete vs Chronicle) [changeable anytime.] Watchability: 2 Grinding sessions, first before first boss, and another before third, but the max lvl is 10, so the grinding shouldn't be too bad. Other then that, FULL SPEED AHEAD.
Game 2: Ys 3 Oath in Felghana System: PC (Steam) Estimate: 2:45:00 (It's a rough estimate, I plan to update it before Monday the 23rd. ) Info: The 3rd game in the series. Started as a 2d side-scroller and got a 3d remake back in 2005. Fast paced action, platformer RPG. Downside: Other than a small amount of grinding, none that I can think of. Incentives: None. Watchability: The game is fast paced, even grinding doesn't feel like grinding.
Alrighty, I've had my leave checked after getting back from my little east coast holiday, and I've still got plenty of leave available. I've got to hassle everyone ever for accommodation and do the passport thing, but provided some of my games get in, you can put me down as an attendee (And go all +1 on that "Nations Represented" list. :P)
You can pencil me in for commentary for the following games too: Star Ocean: The Last Hope*, Wonder Boy III, Secret of Evermore, and Final Fantasies VI and VII. *(Rini thinks I can commentate this for some reason. >_>)
Also, question; Could I pitch Wonder Boy in Monster World (Genesis/Megadrive) if I was playing the 360 arcade version? I don't have a cart and even if I bought one I'd prolly get the PAL version. We could make a neat little Wonderboy Block if it could be added though. \o/
I'll post full details if the 360 version is acceptable.
EDIT: Alright, maybe I'll just post the details anyways, I don't want it to miss being reviewed.
Game 3: Wonder Boy in Monster World System: Xbox 360 (Originally MegaDrive/Genesis) Estimate: 1:30:00 Info: The Monster World/Land series of games are games from the early Sega era which combine a side-scrolling platformer with lots of cool RPG elements. Upsides: Good visuals and music, interesting gameplay mechanics, and a large skip which should surprise fans of the game. Very consistent route except for.... Downsides: Biomeka. Ugh, the last boss of this game is a nightmare, and may take a few tries to get with a 2-3 minute reset each time. I'm still learning this game so the estimate may come down by as much as 30 minutes by the event the current estimate would include 10+ deaths. I'll be playing the 360 version, unless someone up north happens to have an original copy and console. This might be greedy, but if only one game from my three is picked, I'd rather it not be this one. Incentives: "Rematch mode" -- fighting the final boss gauntlet with boss-appropriate gear (They're otherwise all trivial with legendary gear). Playing the Die Hard music while going down the castle stairs. Skipping/Visiting Poseidon. Getting the pyramid Charmstone. Picking up the game's "pets".
I'll prolly think of more incentives after some more runs.
Spud HYPE! And yes, I think you can do commentary for SO4. But in the end it is totally up to you of course, haha.
Also, just to add some more in for Xillia: ACTUAL INCENTIVES! Which story (Milla or Jude), which character is shown on the field for the running around, and sunglasses% (trust me it is WORTH it, especially at the end). The time should be able to be dropped from my conservative estimate later, but for the time being I want to leave it where it is to be safe.
I guess for now I'll just edit this post with this part too, unless Pox wants a new post (Don't really wanna make a new post for this with this so close to the end right now)
Xillia Downsides: There is a lot of running. A lot of it. Especially in the first 20ish minutes. The movement is by no means fast in this game (at least visually, but that might be me being spoiled by how insanely fast movement is in SO4).
I finally had the time to talk donation incentives for Terranigma with some of my viewers and this is what we came up with so far:
File name
All minigames
Raise Mu and Polynesia, get the Enbu Pike and increase the machismo stat
Rescue Kingbird
Unlock the dev building in Neo Tokio
Most of these wouldn't really change my time estimate except for maybe the Kingbird incentive but even that wouldn't add more than maybe 15 minutes in a bad run.
Cool - if Terranigma makes the schedule, would you be OK with playing the English version (you could use my SNES flash cart in order to play the English version at NTSC speed)? Some of those incentives like the macho points and visiting the Quintet building in Neo-Tokio would only really have meaning to the viewers if they can understand the text boxes.
