Crash Bandicoot 1 (Single Segment, 100% Completion)

I don't know anything about the origins of this video. Crash41596 linked it to me, which he didn't make but he might know more about its origins. Perhaps just contact the guy who posted them on YouTube; he ought to know. I can say I play on a PS1 so if that helps you out at all.
Perhaps version variations are game dependent and not uniform across the console?

While I'm here I may add I've gotten the Green Gem skip in Jungle Rollers (Easy) and the Yellow Gem skip in Great Gate (Very difficult). I may try emulate the Great Gate skip to show the right places to jump and land.

Emulation would be much appreciated. I've gotten it like twice but having a video to go to might make it something I'd consider learning. Yet still I have at least 13 minutes to eliminate in deaths alone, so a 2 minute repeat hasn't been as big a priority.

I just finished streaming but I got a 1:37:02 earlier today :). There were a few small mistakes that cost me about 2 minutes and I've given up on trying the Great Gate Portal Skip, but still was a really good run ^.^

That video is a TAS but, from what i noticed is you have to be facing the screen on your jumps. I hope it will help but, if its too hard i understand. Anyway Cane are you going to submit your run or are you gonna try to improve it?

With regards to the skip you don't have to be facing the screen, it just apparently makes it easier. I can't figure out how to do that while jumping because the only way to turn causes you to move forward, and so it can cause trouble. When I practiced it I got the first jump down pretty consistently. The problem is you have to jump off the platform on the right while still slipping off, and then land on the left side while slipping off, and then jump off again. I think a segmented human run would include it with just that level as the segment, but I don't feel that it is reasonable for SS.

As for submitting, I have some unexpected time off this and next week. So I'm hoping to get a few more runs in. If I can improve then I'll go with the best one, but if I am unable to do better then I am happy with the run I got today. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I bought a PS2 the other day so that I could have the fast disc speed... yeah I hadn't done that yet, but anyways I got a run of 1:32:43 today and I think there is at least 4 minutes of mistakes that I could improve upon. So hopefully I can achieve my goal of sub 1:30 ^.^

Also Crash41596 showed me this new glitch that somebody found: http://www.twitvid.com/3ZQBY which makes me believe that in Upstream the box and the back section could be accessible early without the use of the orange gem.

I took a break from 100% and tried my hand at Any%. I managed to get a 50:29 which makes it a new WR.

Also Warepire I have tried to do that glitch. I have never managed to get it once. Also at 4:57 he does some crazy double spin jump with a second jump that looks like its elevated from the regular surface. I don't know what that's about either. These could be frame perfect glitches or they could be version specific being that all the objects in NTSC-J on the creek levels are over sized. I suppose we'd need to ask a TASer for more info but I don't know if any one else knows how to do it either.

Most of the tricks he does in this TAS needs frame or pixel perfection, I guess it's one of those tricks, he is not so active besides posting his WIPs so it's not easy to ask him about it. But you could join TASvideos and give it a try.

X, I haven't really set a goal for myself for Any%. I was hoping to get a sub 50:30 when I started but there still a small margin for improvement that I might try to squeeze out. So I might see if I can get another run that is 15-30 seconds faster, but that would have to be an absolutely perfect run.

Warepire have you seen part 2?! It's incredible.

I'm pretty sure what he has found is a way to "double jump". In Upstream he waits for platforms to line up or damage boosts off of fish. He pretty much uses it everywhere to just jump on nothing and stroll past whatever he wants to.

So I started working on doing a Crash 1 run with the Great Gate Exit Portal Skip in it a few months ago. Finally I managed to get one today that was pretty good. The final time was 1:21:25. I lost probably 45s over all, I'd have to re watch it to be certain, but I'm happy with it.

I did a run of it to take a break from 100% and it turned out there was quite a bit of time to saved. So far I've gotten down to 48:39, although I'm working on getting that lower. There might be 30 or so seconds left to be saved so I'm going to continue to work on this in the future till I get a better run.

I figure it'd be appropriate for an update. I recently got a Crash 1 Any% time of 46:53. There is about 20 seconds of mistakes that I can remember (10 in Generator Room and 10 in The High Road). Overall the run went really well. I might go back and improve it a little more. I'd like to get a run with no unintentional deaths but still overall this run was really good.
