Hey I just watched a fair bit of your run and you're doing good so far.  There are a lot of small optimizations that you could add to improve your time greatly.  One of the main ones is a technique we refer to as Zig-Zagging.  This is a movement technique that can be done on the NTSC versions to increase Crash's speed.

Also here is a good TAS WIP you could check out.  It's currently being worked on by Pirohiko over from tasvideos.org.  He would probably be a good resource for finding improvements as well.

Let me know if I can help you out at all in improving your time :).
So I was screwing around in Crash 1 with some old glitches and I found one that actually turns out to be pretty handy.  Basically if you spin at the right time you get pushed into the camera.  From there you jump until you are on top of the camera, and then you run across the level.  The difficult thing about this glitch is that there is only 1 horizontal plane that this works on.  Conveniently this is the plane you spawn on, so you just hold right until you're at the push platform and go from there.  There appears to be a window of 7 frames during which you can spin and this glitch will work.  It might be greater but in the 20 videos of doing this properly that I saved, they all fell within those 7 frames.  This window starts 4 frames before the push platform moves and ends 2 after it begins moving.  Because I have to death abuse in the level anyways, it makes sense to do that at the check point at the beginning of the third tier of this level so that you are set up to get the glitch again.  Overall its pretty easy to do and it saves about 25 seconds.

tl;dr new glitched route, its pretty cool
