Ok guys, hear me out on this

What if
What if we did Bravo Bikini%
As in, get the Bravo Bikini in Chp5, put it on Edea, then beat the game that way
After some thought, I was thinking maybe include other categories for other things. I know True Ending% would be tedious, but what about All Asterisks? Would only need up to Chapter 6 and includes a few more bosses. Also opens up more treasure chests since Alternis would give you the key for all those locked chests. I estimate about 1-2 more hours due to ~24 extra boss fights.

Another idea is the Chapter 8 Boss Gauntlet in Eternia. You get the option to do it as much as you'd like after you complete it, so maybe do an RTA of it from the start of the first fight until the last blow is dealt.
Is there a leaderboard, site, anything for the Speedrunning of this game? Or is all the info on this thread?

Seconding, would like to have something dedicated like the Spyro/Crash/Ape Escape and Kingdom Hearts leaderboards

Is it merged with the Final Fantasy leaderboards?
I don't see anything. Also what are the categories and rules? Is there a new game + option? What am I allowed to carry and not carry over for that?
The most popular one (any%) is pretty much just start from a standard NG file and get the normal end. You can take whatever sidequests you want, but no Summon Ally, Nemesis, or Abilink at all in the game. NG+ is a bit boring, but I haven't seen anyone run or route it yet. I'm trying to push some categories, but there's not a lot of people here that speedrun Bravely Default.
Is NG+ with bad ending a different category, as I just ran a 3:09:52.
It would definitely be separate from a clean new game, yes
my hat is my friend
I'm learning the game at the moment, thanks Romi for the excellent tutorial on youtube! My 3DS capture card should be here within a month or so so I'm hoping to start running it soon.

Would there be a leaderboard on speedrun.com? I notice there isn't one now, I didn't want to be presumputous as to make one but I don't know if there's one anywhere?

No leaderboard as far as I'm aware either. Just picked up running Bravely Default this last month as well, sitting at 3:26 w/4 resets. I think Romi and I are the only ones with runs currently? It'd be nice to have a page on speedrun.com as that's easily searchable and now one of the first places people will look for leaderboards outside of major franchises that have dedicated sites already. I've actually had a few people pop in chat wondering about that and if there was one somewhere.

As far as the Good/True Ending goes, it's officially been routed, though my notes are lackluster at best and need to be tidied up before publishing. I did a test run the other day with risky strats but the RNG involved makes Airy's 3rd form and the last two phases of Ouroboros excruciatingly painful. Essentially what I did was abused the fact, that for whatever reason, the bosses at the end of the game are able to be put to sleep, and used that to negate damage while building up BP. So first turn, put the boss to sleep, then default until either they wake up, or all the characters are at 3BP. Once everyone hits 3BP, it just turns into casting damaging spells and then repeating it the next turn to finish off that phase/boss.
There were quite a few issues that came up during my run however. The first is the speed dilemma. Normally we never have to worry about anyone outspeeding Ringabel with his Hermes Sandals. However, it's possible for another character to go first if they get a high turn roll and Ringabel gets a low one. The difficult part of this is that we have to go through five consecutive fights at the very end and if anyone decides they want to ruin the run, they just go before Ringabel and murder the party *cough* Agnès *cough*
The second major issue, and also one I was working on an alternate route to remedy, is the dismal chance of Sleep even connecting. I don't have any way of knowing the exact percentage, but from grinding out the fights for hours, it seemed to be about a 1/8 or 12.5% chance of connecting. This really sucks since we get four shots per turn (any more than that and we're wasting BP that we're trying to stockpile in the first place) and just about every attack that isn't a basic physical one will kill most of the party. My solution for this is to level up the Arcanist job to level 11 when it learns Status Amp, increasing the odds of status ailments happening from attacks. I'm assuming this probably doubles the odds, but it's not stated anywhere and again I have no way of knowing the exact numbers behind it. I've done a bit of testing and it seems to be far more reliable than attempting it without. The problem for this is it slows down the extra crystals cycles due to lower dps and also having to rest for MP a couple extra time.
Overall though, my test Good Ending run took 5:11:xx and that was with a lot of bad fights at the very end and I think four or five resets in the first four chapters. It was also using just the Black Mage party instead of Arcanist, so there was more RNG to deal with. I'll be doing another run soon when I'm awake enough to sit down for it and try out the new safer route. 4:30 is probably a reasonably good time to aim for for the time being, so overall it'd only be about an hour longer than the standard Any% Bad Ending.
Maybe try including something like say, Conjurer to increase MP amounts and stat boosts from Hraesvelgr to increase Ringabel's speed.

IDK The safest option seems to be adding in All Asterisks, as it gives us more chances to build JP for RNG reducers like Satus Amp or net some hobs with interesting combos such as My Hero/Mimic and Free Lunch/Amped Strike. In fact, we should experiment a bit and see if certain fights such as the Time Mage/Thief/Performer in Chp7 net us any of those jobs, as it could really help cut down on sidequests such as Chp1's quest for the Time Mage.

As for the Eternian Boss Gauntlet, I'm currently getting a NG+ file ready for it. Had to do NG+ to remove my Stat Boosts and get the boss rush available again.

Also, anyone following on Bravely Second? Those new menu mechanics look gorgeous, and the new jobs look positively broken. Can't wait to route it at some point.
Is anyone here currently routing All Asterisks? I started running Any% Easy recently and decided I wanted to try All Asterisks. I've already started routing it but I haven't gone very far yet. Just wondering if there's anyone I could work with to route it
I would love to watch it if you do run it...
I'd take Romi's notes and adjust them to account for the additional battles. I haven't been touching Bravely Default (mostly because I was hoping Second would be here in the US by now), but I might start practicing and routing soon, depending on how classes go.

Forgot I took notes on the bosses in All Asterisks. Might be useful in routing.

HP is based off of Easy Difficulty. It is the only thing that chages via difficulty, I think.

Explanation
- Khint will leave if anyone reaches Half HP. Therefore don't focus on him unless Khamer's there.
- Praline might be better off getting in Chapter  6, depends on if you can get that sidequest to occur in that chapter and if we can also get Thief/Merchant that way
- Some strats are merely suggestions, I haven't actually been able to test out the "best" way to do these battles
- Feel free to experiment. This is just me pulling game notes out from guides, so actual testing would prove useful
Isn't Yulyana sidequest only available after three crystal bosses in CH6? So you'd have to beat all four in CH6 to actually beat the game.
I could have sworn it only needed 2 bosses... I remember it taking 2 bosses before you have to travel to his hut in Chapter 5, and I thought it was the same in Chapter 6.
Hey guys, I did a run recently for NG+ and I got 2:09:01

so like, that's a thing.
Anyone know where I can find an any% monk run? I've been running black mage% and got roughly 3:30 and want to try monk.

Thanks
