I did it on easy when I did it
Deal with it!
Waking up and tons of new posts lol.
So the trigger skips in the Mission can only be done on easy? What about other action related triggers in other chapters, have you tried them as well? What about movement related triggers, could you maybe skip them by spawning Aiden at the same frame? Maybe some variation is possible while not playing on easy.
Only works on easy cause on hard you have to hold the X prompt to switch cover. Pressing triangle resets the holding state and Jodie won't switch cover. On easy you just have to press X once, so pressing it together with triangle works. Hard mode actually has the same glitch, but with jumping over cover instead. That's exclusive to hard and doesn't have any use so far.

We pretty much tried every instance where the game uses the cover system. Not many spots unfortunately (CIA, Mission, Black Sun). Spawning Aiden inside any trigger will delay it, but there are not many triggers small enough that this would be enough. There another glitch comes into play which allows you to walk a couple of steps while in Aiden mode. You can also use Jodie's momentum when she has a fast running animation to carry you through. But that's pretty damn hard and still under investigation atm.
Deal with it!
Ahh that makes sense, never tried easy mode before Tongue

I thought of triggers like for example ringing the doorbell, spawning aiden at the same frame has triggering the event. Probably not possible or useful though

As soon as you start using any prompt Aiden won't be available anymore. Even if you mash the prompt as fast as possible, you still need multiple frames to complete it and start the associated cutscene. This feature was inherited from Heavy Rain and many are probably not aware, since it wasn't explained, but if you press the stick slightly you can control her animation speed and also fail the prompt by letting go or holding still for too long. This works for any prompt and as soon as you start the interaction Aiden is locked out completely. No matter how fast you do it, you still need multiple frames to complete the interaction.

I guess it should be tested for any prompt that is assigned to a button and fires immediately. Not many of them around though where you can use Aiden at will.

Yeah I figured something like that. And yeah not every trigger is the same so maybe some glitchy one can be found

Oh wow. Black Sun is completely busted. First kinda sequence break Cheesy
Tada:

Deal with it!
Interesting. If we could only find a way to do this on normal.
What's the need to do it on normal?
Deal with it!
well with the differences now easy and normal would be 2 different categories
I guess so. I can't imagine anyone would want to do hard mode runs now.

At least normally any% is the fastest way to complete the game. No matter which means. That's certainly easy mode from now on. I guess hard mode could be a separate category, but I don't see the need for it. I would say we rather remove the focus on difficulty and allow it to be dynamic. The game allows you to switch difficulty ingame in almost no time, so switching difficulties on the fly should be allowed as a time waster if whatever you can do is faster overall. Not sure if there is any spot in the current route where hard mode would save any significant time over easy (some free roaming areas are kinda slow to navigate on easy with Aiden), but we still might find glitches that require the free roaming ability of Aiden. Restricting that to hard while the cover glitch is restricted to easy would be silly. A single run should be allowed to do both.

It also should be considered that you can use two controllers and adjust the difficulty for Aiden and Jodie separately, which might have some uses as well. For example you could do cover glitch with Jodie on easy, while Aiden is on hard and can free roam at the same time. Since the game allows mixed difficulties by design, the speedrun should as well.

That does sounds plausible.

Gonna take my time the next days and go through each chapter with both difficulties and see what I can find.

Man The Embassy seems really slow on Easy

Yeah Embassy was the one I was referring to. Probably needs to be timed how much time it takes to switch difficulty twice and playing on hard vs. playing on easy. Of course if theoretically Embassy is the only real slow chapter on easy you could start the game on hard (The Experiment differences should be negligible or slightly in favour of hard as well) and switch to easy once you reach an Aiden gameplay segment where easy is 100% faster and then play the rest of the game from there on easy.

Switching dificulties takes just under 10 seconds maybe 9. The last test of Welcome to the CIA also seems faster on normal.

I also think the condenser is faster on normal cause you have to try to activate the elevator on easy first before you can reach the trigger for the elevator with Aiden

Yeah I thought so. Lots of timing then to determine where best to switch. Condenser might be the first chapter where easy is faster by some amount.

EDIT: Or not. I actually thought you could do that on easy as well. Bummer. Also Homeless reaching the ATM early might only be possible on hard.

Everything after the first elevator yes, so maybe thats a good place to switch.

oh yeah forgot about the atm.

are you really sure waiting in the burning house is slower? seems quite fast to me

Yeah maybe, Condenser needs to be timed properly I guess. Waiting in the Burning House is just over 5 minutes (the timer starts as soon as you stand up from the bed). Doing everything as fast as possible is certainly faster. What's hilarious though is that you don't have to save Stan and you can literally die right beside his bed and then in the cutscene he still runs out together with Tuesday and then goes back in for Jodie LOL
Deal with it!
Ahh game froze again...does that happen to you as well sometimes?
Sometimes yeah. While risky, doing the run without saving enabled should be faster as the occasionally freeze is related to the game saving. If you completely lock the game up then the run is obviously over lol
Deal with it!
yeah I also disable subtitles in hope it reduces loading times
Managed to get OoB in Dragon's Hideout:

I guess that answers your question Wypy if breaking Aiden's barrier at the beginning would help. The base loading is unfortunately tied to the cutscene trigger in front of the base. It's pretty interesting though that while the actual scene is completely on rails and seems scripted, you can move around freely after getting past the trigger and the other guys are actually controlled by AI and follow you anywhere (they even get stuck sometimes). The door is also not solid, but the rest is.

I guess it might be possible to break the OoB trigger with Jodie after leaving the house and reach the cutscene early. Pretty hard though. The only alternative is to break the trigger at the beginning where you arrive at the house. The scene is yet again on rails, but if you could slide past the trigger like I did with the other one you might be able to move around freely there as well and maybe activate the base cutscene. I tried a couple of times, but for whatever reason the house trigger seems to be a lot bigger than the base one:

The read line indicates where the trigger roughly begins. Considering how far I got and it still fired I'm not sure if this will be possible.

Deal with it!
Very nice find. While being OoB with Aiden have you tried to go outside of the map and see if the underwater base is connected to it?
Not really but I would assume it's a different area entirely. Might try it again though to make sure.
