That was the very first error I've had, and it refused to open VirtualDub so it couldn't encode at all.
I've done that before, the path is set to C:, everything goes ok, then it throws all these errors, but only on HQ.

Tried even anri 3_beta3, still the same error, yet low and medium quality encoded.
ok, that is really bizarre. maybe snow has some ideas? because i'm totally out of them at this point. i mean could it be that mvbob is broken somehow? it seems like snow was able to fix that before but i don't remember what it was exactly ... maybe he'll check in sometime soon and we'll find out.

Very interesting error. The only arguments to AssumeTFF is the clip itself. You don't need to specify the argument if a clip is in the pipeline, so it may be that the source files are simply not being loaded before it gets to this line. Although there is a converttoyuy2 before AssumeTFF...  Does converttoyuy2 error out when there is no video? Maybe it's erroring on a different assumetff than what I'm thinking.

Bananamatic,

You posted the error messages and log file before making changes to ini.bat, can you do so again now that you are saving to C: ?
I swear that I've had it set to C: all the time, since without that it fails to startup DScaler, had it before.....

Then it worked and encoded everything, and after 2 months of no changes in the folder, it throws out errors when it tries to encode HQ.

Oh well, reinstalled it again, set parentdir to C: and double checked to make sure, and still the same stuff.

http://files.filefront.com/log+192817/;13838034;/fileinfo.html

If it still shows that I haven't been saving it to C:, no idea what I'm doing wrong.....do all speedruns have to offer HQ as well or LQ/MQ is enough?
there are very few non-gba runs that don't require hq ... an example recently was myst. unfortunately you have to actually encode hq to know whether it's required.

i have faith in snow!!
Thanks for the log file.

What error messages are seen in the anri window?

I've been getting this a lot with some of my DVDs which the recorder splits over multiple discs (it's over 75 minutes long):

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: open_stream
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and

- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.

anri-chan will start, then after a few moments return to the main menu.  DVD Decrypter will read it, but will have read errors at one spot on that VOB file (and I have to pretty much turn ignore read errors on and put retry to 0 to get through it).  Though what's funny is that I estimated where the glitch should be, and I can't see it neither in VLC or Media Player Classic.

I'm sure the problem lies in that my DVD Recorder is not recording onto disc correctly if it does automatic splitting (there is no option to manually split).  Ideas how to get past this, besides a new recorder (I'm actually on my older one after my new one borked some time back)?
wow, that's a new one.

hmmm. you might try copying the vobs off the disc to c:\something\ (only the .vob files) and saying c:\something is an mpeg-2 source. i forget exactly how it goes but basically you want to use it as an mpeg-2 source and not as a dvd source. that should bypass the mplayer pgc-split stage. normally this would cause audio desync but in your case if there's only one thing on the disc then it most likely won't. this is all really dodgy so it may not even be possible but it's the best i can think of right now.

Well, I figured out a very odd solution.

I noticed that when I recorded it to DVD on two different occasions, there was one gaff in the recording, but they happened in different locations.  So they could be trimmed via anri-chan if necessary.  But I wanted to keep a clean DVD, so I used a program called "MPEG Video Wizard DVD" (http://www.womble.com/) and managed to perfectly trim the 2 different DVD VOBs into a single VOB file (by mock making a DVD for recording).  So now I can make a clean DVD via reburning everything with Nero.

Luckily this only happens on the DVDs where the recording is doing multi-disc splitting, but it's still really obnoxious and I'm gonna have to fork over some money for yet another DVD recorder.  Heh... #4 in 3.5 years.  Well, technically #6 if you count the first two duds I got when I started back in Jan '06.
Hey. In some games (fortunately the ones I'm running), when I encode the recording in high quality or better, the result video is slowed down extremely. If I upload it on YT for example, the lenght of it goes twice as long, BUT, if I leave it as it is and upload it somewhere, it seems that other people don't have this problem. An example: http://speeddemosarchive.com/demo.pl?TombRaiderUnderworld_mastersurvivalist_levelskips_2526 if I download the hq version of the run and watch it, it plays twice slower than it should, but I suppose it wouldn't be up if the problem would really be in the video. Also, I don't have this problem with all the games I record. Thanks in advance.
what are you using to play it? have you tried the sda-recommended smplayer?
Ok, now I don't understand it. It rather seems the encoding process sometimes goes well, and sometimes simply doesn't. Up until now, each time I encoded it into HQ quality, it played twice as slow on each player I have (bsplayer, kmplayer, vlc, windows media player), but now that I encoded it again, it plays normally. I am confused. Undecided
oh, this is something you're encoding, i see now. i thought for some reason it wasn't. well, i don't know, what are you using for the input values?
I'm not sure what do you mean. I've reinstalled anri-chan just for sure, but it didn't help. Strangely, if I play the encoded video in VLC, it plays as it should, but it's quality is massively lowered and the sound is messed up at the beginning and then it goes mute completely. Oh, and if I watch it in smplayer, it plays perfectly normal. BUT STILL, if it is in the player, how come it's slowed down as that on YT? Should I maybe upload a sample so you can see?
yeah, you can upload a sample.

input values = progressive versus interlaced mainly, also d/f etc.

well you didn't help me by that too much Roll Eyes

anyway, - the original lenght of this video is 46 seconds. BUT, it happens just if I first watch it in bsplayer or any other where it plays slow before uploading. If I watch it in smplayer directly, it uploads normally. Still haven't tried uploading without watching the vid before. Oh my, this issue is so ridiculous Undecided

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

Can't create sample or encode (any more).

it looks like you need the codec for "dvsd" which i found by googling "dvsd" ... if you can open the .avi in virtualdub then you know you have it installed.

i'm asking about what you input into anri while encoding. so how do you answer the questions it asks?

indeed. i've had videos destroyed by youtube for no reason also. i guess my expectations for youtube were too high.
well why didn't you say so directly Cheesy I start new project, type in the name, I don't use a capture card, I enter the path to the files individually, it is a PC game recorded with a screen capture software, no trimming, no info, yes, I want to encode using these settings ( no dvd source, video format D1 F1 3D, progressive) and I wanna start encoding now.
i see nothing wrong with that ... it probably has to do with the source material. in my case when youtube destroyed my videos it was always stuff with a lot of repeated frames.

I'm having a slight problem when encoding my Oracle of Ages speedrun.  The encoding part goes smoothly, but when I watch the video afterwards (this may have been answered earlier, but due to time constraints atm I can't check the thread), the top of the screen is cut off very slightly, and a thin black bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
Just pointing out that Oracle of Ages is a Game Bot Color game, captured with the GBA player.

Is this a problem on my end, or is with anrichan, because encoding GBA videos works perfectly.

Video example.  The black bar at the bottom shows up very well during the logos, and you can see during play that the top of the heart containers, key symbol, and so on is cut off.
probably you need to adjust the crop settings manually ... capturing analog video is kind of hit or miss. we give you some hard coded crop settings but they don't work for everyone. try these instructions, only on nate_gb instead of nate_gba. you don't have to encode every time you make a change to preview the change - just open an existing project dir and open a .avs from there in vdub to see it take effect. good luck.
Quits halfway
Is there a way that I could make anri-chan rotate my video while it encodes? With how my DS setup is, I capture the video upside down, and it's a little bit of a pain (as far as HDD space goes) to have to flip each video right side up and then encode it again with anri-chan.
i use rotate(). you'll want to replace the contents of something you don't use (e.g. nate_vhs()) in nate/sda.avs (can't remember which right now) with just that, rotate(90) or whatever for 90°. actually i'm not sure either whether you have to load it as an external plugin but i don't think you do ... you may need to download it and install it in the avisynth plugins directory though. google will point you to it. anyway, once you've done that, you can just say yes to the vhs question and it will add the rotation call to every script for that project.
Alright, it's been a long time coming: anri 3.0 is out. Report any bugs...
