The storage is very good now that I can see it Tongue . in what you were saying, you were probably talking about the Rainy Hall, because with the glitch I found you're supposed to skip the whole entrance hall Tongue .

No but seriously, I found a pretty massive glitch that trigger the explosion in the storage with a barrel, I uploaded a video of the thing that made me think that it would be possible(I get through a door because of the barrel) and the storage thingny, I'm going to search if there's a way to skip the drill in the morgue, otherwise, this glitch perfectly performed will save around 15 seconds on a SS .

Really nice find.
My best guess as to what is happening is that the barrel is getting stuck in the object and somehow doing a huge amount of damage to it (even when it's not supposed to do damage?). For stuff like certain metal doors which aren't supposed to be broken this will just "disable" the door (like when you kill an enemy through damage), for other stuff (like those destructible rocks which probably have some obscene amount of health or toughness value) it will be triggering the break event.

This may have potential in the prison_south (but if iirc the map change trigger can only be enabled if you use the hammer first), and other areas where an entity (not static_object - see level editor) blocks your way. You should be able to break level doors to get out of bounds too (this may have potential in quite a few maps for getting out of bounds early or when the item doesn't have the collide player flag set so save glitching isn't an option). I imagine this works with most objects provided they can get lodged in and have similar toughness values? Could potentially allow routes which use save glitches in SS by breaking "unbreakable" things to get out the map.

These spots come to mind, but it's late and i won't be able to test these until tomorrow either:
Hatch in the refinery
Slime in the entrance hall
Gate using box / Level door in water part #1 using book/skull
Any of the windows in the study (Remember the window-crack trigger will block your return and manipulate the camera annoyingly if using breakable window)
Prison Hole / Gate
Level doors in the cistern
The spinning wheel in the sewer
Doorways in the nave
Doorway in the inner sanctum

Up to now I've tried The hatch, The slime, The Cellar Archives, Prison and study.
The only one I've succeed was the hatch, the storage and the Guess(but only once, here's the screen shot of the result).

I love speedrun and I also love Amnesia so I decided that I could try to speedrun it, just for fun Smiley
I've already done a speedrun but now I'm trying to improve it, segment by segment.
I'm actually in the storage but i was wondering : how do you do the save warp which allow you to leave a level when you restart the save ?
It would really help me to save time if i could do this.
Oh and by the way you all do awesome job, it's amazing all the glitches you've found Smiley

Afraid I can't help you with the save warp, because I only do SS runs.

Anyway, I wanted to say that I finally seem to have found out what my problems were when streaming Amnesia (why I had such an awful fps), so hopefully I'll be able to spend a lot more time on it again in a few days. I still have to try out those new glitches you posted, AndreLL.

I'm also a SS runner but I'm the one who found the save warp and this glitch have afterward been exploited completely by apjjm so I think I can help you with this one. First the one in the Entrance Hall is the easiest, you only have to load the Entrance hall and spam or frame time your click because you have one frame to open the door, and now, for all the other one, it's just that when you load a place, there's a specific frame where you spawn in front of the door so if you're facing the right direction(face the door), you'll be able to open the door during this frame.

Also, I'm pretty sure everyone will be comprehensive with you, the community is nice and they have been nice with me a couple of years even considering I'm also french Smiley .

Adam, nice to see you're trying those glitch, I don't personally advice to use all of them in a SS because they aren't that friendly, this is for me, even harder than the jumps in the Entrance Hall. Maybe if you can get consistent with it would be pretty insane(considering the difficulty of this glitch and the fact that it save about 10 seconds(Storage), 3 seconds(Refinery) and X seconds(Guess Room). I've test the approach almost everywhere, I really don't know where else it could be use in a any%(I still need to try the Nave).

Also I'm now in the Storage, I'm trying the Route Apjjm found but it's quite hard to do Tongue
I've found that the first monster can trigger the explosion in the storage so I'm currently using it for that segment.
Doesn't Amnesia have an inventory system? I thought you couldn't "go back and improve" segments for games like this because you can end up with different inventory amounts in each segment.

You can provided that there are no discrepancies between segments (that includes health and sanity - though if you finish with a little more sanity/health than you had at the end of the obsoleted segment then this puts you at no advantage (as the next segment will take the lower values) so is probably okay too.)

Progress update: Exams and coursework. Will resume work on this in about a month when i've finished for summer. Still in the prison (was experimenting with a new route but it was slower).
Well if he picked up a ton of tinderboxes and then "re-did" the segment without picking any up, his later segments will have tinders he didn't take time to pick up, which is what I was trying to make clear to him. It would probably be hard to keep sanity levels the exact same throughout, wouldn't it? I thought most of the "levels" of it were behind the scenes and it eventually changes at certain hidden percentages to indicate it to the player with things like "you have a headache".

I suppose it can be done, but I don't want him to go through all the trouble only to get it rejected because there is no continuity, that would really suck for him. It isn't like Call of Duty or something where you can go back and re-do a level without worry because they aren't at all connected, you have to make sure you do it right.

Pongsifu, You really don't need to take tinderbox. Because you complete puzzles so fast that your sanity climb faster than it drop(except in one spot in a 100% run(The refinery)). The only thing I would advice you to be careful with, is the damage.

Onoma, about the storage, Apjjm and me pretty much break it to his maximum already and it's actually faster to complete the puzzle normally instead of triggering the cinematic, taunting the grunt, and destroying the wall with. If you intend on casual running this game, the normal route would be the best idea, because at the moment if no new times saver are found, Apjjm run is currently improvable by mere seconds(like less than 15) and that would include doing insane boost(like 3 more by segment that are all pixel and frame perfect).

Apjjm, can't wait to see you restarting destroying this game with me, it's been like one years we're working on this, it's pretty insane Shocked .

Adam, you better beat my time soon Tongue , I should either get a pc and try to speedrun this soon or use one of the 4 pc in the house that are to my roommates since they already give me permission but I was to lazy for it.

Haha, yeah, I'm planning to get back into action this weekend. Will be working (-and probably streaming-) on Amnesia for most of the day on Sunday. Once I learn your entrance hall jump, the cellar archives barrel jump and mess around with the barrel-breaking glitch you recently found (to see if I can get it consistently in an SS run), I may start doing recording attempts again. I'll be planning to do it sub 30, ultimately.

The only part I'm kind of worried about now in the SS runs is the Choir pillar jump and the OOB part in the Choir; I always seem to screw those two up, so I guess that's gonna cause a lot of resets. Other than that, as long as the shovel trick doesn't screw me over, I should be able to get some decent runs recorded soon.
I used tinder boxes as an example because it was the only item I could recall, I don't remember much about the game. I guess you wouldn't really have to pick up any non-story items.

To give you a perspective on the any% glitched run; we don't even pick up the lantern. Items are completely irrelevant in that run, and the only one I usually pick up is a tinderbox during the opening sequence at the beginning, which I immediately use during the same opening sequence [as a kind of joke that AndreLL came up with]. Things like tinderboxes don't make sense to pick up, because we never stay in an area long enough to benefit from them. Apart from that, we could pick up Laudanum, but that's only picked up in one or two areas, because it's too costly time-wise to pick it up elsewhere. Insanity also doesn't form any issues, since for the majority of the run Daniel will be 'crystal clear', since we solve puzzles so quickly.

In any case, I can't think of a single thing that would make re-doing segments awkward in this run, since pretty much every run is identical.

Good news! Exams are over and i've cleared my backlog of games-i-must-play so i'm working on this again. Will hopefully have a new video out within a 7-10 days, as the prison and cistern section is relatively simple - I just need to do a little bit of practice to get used to the tricks again.

Nice, one of my roommate lend my his laptop with amnesia so when my other roommate isn't playing Diablo 3 on it, I'll use it to do Amnesia run again on my side Smiley . I really can't wait to see your next segments Apjjm and hope we are finally going to get through this, it's been a years and 6 days I'm working on this game as a speedrun, it's time that we finish this Tongue .

I've very recently bought a 2TB HDD, which means that I've got enough space to record attempts. I've been quite busy with Sonic 1 and L4D lately, but once Sonic 1 is done (and I really hope it won't take much longer, because I'm getting a bit sick of running it :p) I'll do recording attempts for Amnesia. Turns out I can't stream the game after all, because it still lags, unfortunately.

How are your runs coming along, André? I've become a bit consistent in some of the tricks, but I think it'll take me a while to finally get a sub 30 run...

Sorry for the late response, I'm also becoming more consistent, particularly on the stair in the entrance hall, I'm still a bit bad at the new Archive tunnel way to get up but aside from that, I should have a speedrun very soon(in a month or so(at least I hope Tongue )).

Been really fortunate and got some awesome segments done today (cistern (new boost) and morgue). Going to start suffering through the sewers (again :() either tomorrow or thursday and should have my next video up by the weekend at the latest. I can't wait to see that too, good luck with your sewer, it isn't like it was the place that destroyed 70% of my run when I succeed the entrance hall glitch Tongue . I'm starting to get better, I didn't record any of the run I did in the past 2 weeks but in the small amount I succeed I believe that they were under 30 minutes, so if everything goes well maybe I could dream of a sub29:30 and maybe more like sub29 :O , but I'll stop dreaming and at least hope to record an attempt that sub 30, with what software do you record your run both of you, since I'm going to record on my friends computer, I won't be able to record with Screenflow, since this awesome software is mac only Sad .

I'm using playclaw to record currently - it seems to have better performance than fraps, and also the feature to "cancel" a recording, which is really useful for segmented runs.  It also records the loading screen properly which fraps doesn't for some reason, either way expect to use a lot of hard drive space. I used (the free option) of SCFH DSF when i streamed, and you could use vritual dub to capture with that if you don't want to shell out for any software.

I'm using Fraps for recordings. Seems to have worked fine, so far, and I've got plenty of hard drive space for the videos. If you're so good at getting sub 30, I might as well give up on running the game, AndreLL Tongue

I have a new skip in the sewers as well: spent 5 hours solid attempting it, and just now got the first 8 seconds of the level down. Only one segment left before I'm at the nave and upload a video, but the next segment is actually fairly long and has a large element of luck with a boost at the start so it may take a while to get.
