AGDQ 2016 Game Submissions Information (Submissions are now closed)

So I feel that you have threated the speedrunning community unfairly. Especially all in the classic Mario community thought Mario 2 was going to be a race and not a single time did you hint it would be a solo run. So that you now decide after three weeks of extra waiting is unacceptable.

So if you have any morals at all you should change it or I want new leadership. this is beyond stupid tbh.

It says runner has been decided. Not runners. Also it is a dick move on their part if they now decide it should be a two way race when that was never even talked about. Especially if I had the second best time when I submitted to AGDQ and still had that when the submissions closed.

Edit: On both categories I might add.

Wait...if svenne had second best time and it's a two way race, with the possibility of a three way race, why is he not accepted? Svenne, Whitman and I use to race SMB2 regularly and he was probably most consistent and had best time between us I believe. I am confused with the exclusion....svenne is a definite SMB2 talent.

As a runner in the mario community; Svenne definitely deserves this opportunity.. It seems odd that some game races runs got decided based on "the players with the best PB" but for this game, the 2nd best player doesn't even get a chance.. Very inconsistent and i think unfair to those who grind for times to get a slot in a race... Again, is it based on PB time, submission time, or some other non-stated factors? Surely it can't be that difficult to set up a 3 player race for this game..

Without going into what's fair or unfair...

Unless the GDQ-staff have decided to rule out all 4:3 races with 3 runners and don't have an overlay, there are no additional technical difficulties present here. As far as I can tell from the games list, Blaster Master / Batman are both NES titles which is looking to be a 4-way race.

I don't know if the times on the sr.com leaderboards are up to date. But hearing that several individuals saying Svenne's got the second fastest time on top and being consistent leads me to believe the cut was made on personal grounds. Would the games committee like to comment?

It looks like he has the second best time of the runners in any%, but not in all levels. And from what I can tell, that is his pb on the site. It's just a case of a dated pb it seems.

I believe that SMB1 Any% Race is a 3-way race so the layout shouldn't be a problem.
I would love to see a 3-way race of SMB2USA and i believe Svenne deserves a chance!

It's cute and all to support your friend but stop saying svenne is second best (of people who submitted) when he's more than one minute behind whitman for all stages (and i'm not even talking about GDF's PB which is even more ahead, and i'm not talking about the record which is more than three minutes faster than the don for a 22ish minutes run).

Truth is GDF is by far the best smb2u runner out of the people who submitted, and whitman is a logical choice for the second player if there needs to be one. Honestly I would have just given GDF a solo run.

My video is from RSM15 where I did a live speedrun infront of 40 ppl that almost beat Cak's SGDQ run but if I would have known anything about the situation that our game submissions were in, you don't think I could crank out a better time? I have gotten pb's in Any% after it. The point is if I come tomorrow and have a better time then Whitman_Price_, would they consider me the better runner? Or is this just a waste of time. Or could they just accept the community had a understanding that it was gonna be a three way race and we are all really, really good.

I know you are upset Kirua and hate me. But ILM is just better then both you and me. Just face it and move on.

Alright, now that it's not 3AM, I went and checked on the SMB2 game. I discovered that the committee's working document didn't have Svenne's any% listed, which resulted in him getting rejected.

We rectified the issue, the SMB2 any% race is now a 3-way race.

Also, I wanted to make a side-note for the future: giving support to a fellow runner in your community is nice. I appreciate that you guys care for seeing your favorite runners in the event. However, we can't use that sort of testimony to decide runs. EVERY community has people they want to see in the event. It's not fair to the runners at large to only select based on a specific community input. We account for a much larger number of variables, and we have to be fair to runners that might be just as good but less popular.

Just a quick one, as it's getting later and later for me.

My run is still waitlisted, but another also submitted the game. I am under the impression that games with multiple different runners submitting need to have their runner selected (either one accept, one waitlist OR One Waitlist, one reject) or it becomes a race or both rejected. As both of us are still waitlisted, am I to believe the fate of the game is yet undecided?

Travel increases in price daily, and I'm coming from the UK.

I appreciate it takes a while.
Not necessarily asking for the fate to be decided immediately, just wanting to know if it's still in contention or not. If it's going to stay like it is now, or not.

All remaining runners will be decided this weekend and the committee is going to make an effort to finish the schedule also.
