My feelings on The Demon Rush

Ziggirawk: I asked the hotel, and that military discount is off the rack rate (i.e. not the promo rate we'll receive), so you in other words, no, you can't apply the military discount on top of the promo rate.

You won't get the group rate until the code/link is posted so yea I would wait. Don't have to worry about rooms filling up, when we get the code/link there is a block of rooms reserved for us that has no bearing on what people outside of our marathon do. It's the 1st week of January though so hotel space isn't really an issue.

The reservation link is up, it'll be up on the Games Done Quick website later this week, and I'll post a separate topic with more info soon. I know Dr. Cool guy is planning on handling the roommate thread again.

The rate is 99 a night for 1 or 2 people, and 109 a night for 3 or 4 people, this *does* include breakfast (which was in the contract). Those rates do not include the 12% tax. The rates are per room, not per night (as in you can divide up the costs).

One quick suggestion, if you want people to split payments (or take on the hold together), then I would recommend getting the real names of your roommates when you reserve.

A King room over 2 double beds would be preferable for the people who will only have 1 or 2 to a room; this would leave more doubles for those with 3 or 4 per room. It was previously mentioned that Kings would be in our block, so they may just not have made them available on the site yet. The roommate thread won't be up for a bit yet anyway, so if you want a King, it makes sense to wait a bit before reserving.

Weird, when I just visited the link, a King room does show up as long as you put 1 or 2 guests in. If you go to 3 or 4 guests, only the doubles show up which makes sense.

That's good, I talked to the Hilton about it yesterday and it looks like they added King rooms.

It actually looks like King rooms are only available for those staying from the 3rd through the 11th. If you plan to stay past that date, the site removes the King option, no matter how many guests you select. It appears the site also removes the King option if you plan to arrive on the 2nd. You can select 2nd-13th and 2 Doubles is always available.

Maybe the Hilton is just afraid they won't have enough King rooms to go around for people staying the entire marathon?
