You only need it if you want good ending/100%. You still get an ending even w/o it which should show up on the any% board.

That doesn't seem to be the case. Bad ending doesn't stop the timer and doesn't submit to the LB. And I guess I should have asked how people are skipping almost everything.

First place seems to be getting Movement [4c], Sword [20c], and 6 of the eight 5c DLCs [30c] (boss, animation, audio, pause, pet, sexy, hat, and zombie).

A few others are getting at least 80 coins and 11 DLCs, but the cheapest combination of 11 dlcs is the above 64c + Psycho [50c] = 114c.

Possibly a glitch to start w/ a free DLC? I'm trying to assume people aren't just cheating.

For a legit run, see my run here on SDA. It is done on the 360 version so I did not have the timer/leader board (still dont). Look a page or so back, a video was posted showing how to start the game with the gun though it is very poorly shown. Using a glitch to have the gun at the start kinda breaks the game.

I used the gun glitch in my run. The #1 time is not possible w/ just that. I was wondering if anything has been found that could explain skipping armor, map, and gun.

As far as I'm aware:
Low% (w/ Gun Glitch) = Move [4] + Boss [5] + Map [140] + Armor [250] = 399 Coins

I still dont see why you need armor

dfire uses the gun glitch. I would assume the #1 spot guy is cheating somehow
Quote from Heidrage:

Because I'm talking about "any percent" as per the official leaderboards, not the SDA definition. Good ending is required to submit.

Possibly, but there's something about those numbers that just really bug me. I'd probably write it off as cheating if there wasn't multiple other people with similar submissions (low coins, lots of cheap of upgrades).  Makes me think there's something we don't know about.
Willing to teach you the impossible
It is either something we dont know or it is cheating. With the way everyone wants to stroke their ego when they do something new and nothing is shown for this at all, I have to lean towards cheating.

How long has that been up? If it went up not too long ago, I say give it some time for the guy to come forward. I would also say to look into that user name if you can. If they have a bunch of crazy scores/times then it is a for sure cheater.
Apparently there is a way to freeze the timer, attackofthetumbs, the person owning the first place in the 100% category seems to claim that it happens with his run (information coming from DungeonFIRE).

I'm actually working on a 100% run on the PC version, I'm using the route of this run since it seems quite optimized and can clearly make a sub 10:30 [IGT]. I'll start thinking about route changing when I'll run a sub 11:00 [IGT] I think.

And I have a question, I don't know how it works on the 360 but on PC at the end of the game you have a box with your time on it.
If it's not the case on the 360 does it means that the SDA time is the time you have on this box ?

EDIT : Just to keep talking the same language, SDA time for this route is a sub 8:20 since the run is approximatively a 8:21/8:22. My PB is actually a poor 10:04, guess I seriously need to practice my inputs ...
AFAIK the SDA time is registered from the frame that you dismiss the dialog at the beginning, to the frame where you lose control before the final cutscene (right when the coin display disappears).  The in-game timer, OTOH, counts the opening and ending cutscenes/credits in their entirety, which is going to add ~2 minutes to the time easily.

I'll have to take a closer look at that 100% route later and maybe provide some feedback.  I've been pondering routes for that myself, though I'll probably be trying for an any% good end first (I think I have the route for that pretty much down - not much different than the Bad End, other than collecting coins in the night area).

I do vaguely recall hearing about a timer stop glitch... I would think that if 100% runs on the leaderboards used it, they'd be a lot lower though.  And I don't think the timer freeze would explain the sub-250-coin good end runs on the any% leaderboard either.  Been very curious about those but haven't found any explanation yet.

SDA uses in game time unless it is inaccurate. So for PC it will use the in game timer where as in 360 version it is manually timed from first frame of control to last frame of control.

I will look at the route once I get back from running my errands.
Interesting route; quite different than what I had in mind, and there's probably a lot of room for variation on 100% but I'm not at a point where I can guess what works best.

I would've expected to rely on the high jump more to visit other areas earlier, and try to be more efficient in terms of only having to visit certain places once - e.g. only visiting the western cave in the first area after you obtain the gun.  I notice that he minimizes the cost of that particular revisit by firing a blind shot to kill the NPC down there though.
I was thinking about the same improvement but it may be trick since this glitch is kinda frame perfect.

My route is a bit different since I'm actually not killing the 4th sheep with the sword, I'm waiting to have the gun and kill him on my way back to the ending.

And the blind shot is really easy to execute since there's a huge landmark to show you from where you can shoot.

I was messing around with the route I thought would work better last night but can't really fathom it getting sub-11 IGT, I could be wrong though.

You're right though, it would be a lot more demanding in terms of optimal-height high-jumps (though not as demanding as my intended route for any% good end turns out, actually...  I guess you *could* go absolutely nuts and try to get *all* the coins in the high portion of the night area without getting double-jump first though.)

But yeah, one of my thoughts was definitely to optimize how early I get the gun so that I save as much time as possible, not having to revisit NPCs or take longer to kill sheep.

Meanwhile, I get the impression that it's possible to kill at least some NPCs with the sword in the X360 version, judging by Heidrage's existing SDA run.  Interesting distinction.  I'm pretty sure it's impossible on the current PC version.
I just get back from work and made a new 11:28:850 PB which could have easily been a sub 11:25 if I didn't forgot a coin ...
Anyway this route is an easy sub 11:00 since I made a lot of 1-2 seconds mistakes.

I can't see how killing a NPC is possible on the PC version. Heidrage; how did you manage to hurt him ? Didn't seems to be a bug or at least not a difficult one since he's doing it without any purpose.

No NPC can be killed with the sword.

Actually, I just managed 11:03 100% with my route with probably 30 seconds worth of of mishaps, so I might actually be able to come close to Kahdoom's time at least, but not sure about sub-10:30 IGT.

Edit: okay, I stand corrected.  Later the same night I've managed to get just a hair under 10:30, beating Kahdoom's time.  There's still got to be a few seconds' room for improvement.  Guess I should've been recording. XD

My route involves still doing the majority of the right-side high area in the first map early using the high jump, so it's pretty similar to the bad end route with the addition of talking to Random for the first time.  In the second map, rather than struggle doing several optimal-height high jumps, I realized it costs all of about 5 seconds to take a detour to Dime for the double jump DLC on the way back from the Troll before heading to the high area of that map, so I do that, then head up and collect/kill everything.

Then I buy night map + gun + psych warfare from Dime, return to the first map, get the gun, revisit the left side of the map past random, come back and kill the opening cutscene sheep, then deal with the remaining portion of the top area, before returning to the night map, "finishing" the game, buying all the remaining DLC, then finishing again.  (Of course, I kill all the things along the way as I do this.)

I'm realizing now it might be a better idea to revisit the top area of the first map last, since I imagine I could save a couple of seconds by dropping down further to the right once I'm done.  Clearly not done experimenting yet.

Hi everyone, I just manage to do a 10:42 run. Still improvable to a sub 10:30 since there is  a lot of mistakes and still have some rerouting to do. Maybe I'll upload it in order to show my route and to compare with CnEY's. By the way I've seen that CnEY mad a 10:22 or so run, I hope you recorded it man !

Oh, and I found a new bug that skip the second Random's speech. When you have the gun and go to the Far Left Land, if you shoot just before Random is supposed to appear (a good landmark is just after the board), you can hear the sound of someone dying. The next dialogue you'll have with him will only last a text box.
I think this is due to the pre-existence of his sprite in the level.
I mad some experiment, this bug works if you don't buy the Warfare Pack but you can't pass. You can perform this glitch with the first speech but it don't unlock the Warfare pack so it's not really useful ^^.
I can post a quick video of the glitch since my explanation is quite confuse but I don't know if it's useful since it's really easy to perform. I think some of you,  CnEY at least, have already found it as it is really easy to perform and allow a 3 or 5 seconds saving depending on your mashing skills ^^.
Yeah, I had gotten 10:29, then 10:24 shortly after, then managed 10:22 this past weekend.  I was not having a ton of success other than that run this weekend so I wasn't recording at the time. :/ Now that I'm pretty sure I'm getting close to the limit on this route I will start recording again.  10:20 should be possible with my route, not sure how far below that it can get (or how likely that is).

RE the gun glitch to skip Random's text, I noticed that glitch too, though since I don't get the sound DLC until way late in my run I didn't observe what you did, that's interesting.  Another landmark you can use (though tighter timing) is when you see the tree enter the left side of the screen.

I managed to record an improvement to my weekend run after only a couple of tries tonight:

(EDIT: video redacted, see one on next page which obsoletes it by nearly 20 seconds)

This is my current PB but it has a number of absolutely painful mistakes (but also a few things that I've never had go as well as they did here).  Based on this, I'm convinced 10:15 with this route is possible.  Whether I'll manage it is another question entirely.

(Visit the actual youtube video page for a run-down of the mistakes/highlights.)

EDIT: Welp, the above run's obsolete - managed 10:17.848 tonight.  I did record it but I'm gonna hold off uploading it lest I obsolete it again in similarly short order.

Pretty good run. And I bet your 10:17 has way less errors. I manage to run a 10:23.552 last night with a bunch lot of little mistakes and a fail during my 2nd visit of the upper right area which cost me 4s at least. Hope I can improve it soon.

Edit : Just manage to do a 10:08.760 !! Still improvable to a sub 10:05 I think but this is going to be very hard. The upload is on his way.
Heh yeah, that upper right area revisit has been a killer for me a few times.

1:08 is nuts!  Are you still using Kahdoom's route or have you changed things up?  If it's Kahdoom's route I guess I didn't watch his run nearly closely enough for mistakes - I knew he had some but I didn't think it was 22 seconds worth.

No, I'm not using this one any more, It was a 10:25 max if you're pushing it. I'm now using a route pretty similar to yours, I'm just keeping my old route for the first part of the run, when you first encounter Random. I hope I can upload it fast so you can see the few differences but I'm struggling with Yua. It doesn't want to edit the video...

EDIT : Here's my run properly encoded, You're welcome to give notes.

After watching my run again I don't know if a sub 10:05 is really doable with this route. There is clearly enough mistakes to believe that a perfect run would beat this time but I'm very sceptical when it comes to perform it. Maybe a new route that skips the first sheep or the coins kept by the 4 bushes can help doing it...
