Double Rocketjump! Anyone ever done it in any map? I don't mean in Coop (like hip3m1), but in single player. I always thought that it could be possible to have it in a speedrun. Lemme explain:
You'd need to have a teleport, and a vision to the place where the teleport takes you, +rocket launcher of course. Then you'd 1. fire the rocket towards the teleport location, 2. teleport yourself there, 3. make an additional rocketjump at the same time when the first rocket arrives there and get veeery high.
Mappers interested in this idea? I think I discussed this idea with Jesse many many years ago, and he planned to add this to a level...

I've seen it in Quake3 trickjump movies, it's easy there since you fall faster then rockets in Quake3.
 
But the teleporter thing will probably work, it's a good idea for a run of the week contest.

How about a combined 2x rocket jump together with a grenade jump? That would be nice in a rotw contest, and will require some perfect timing as well.

with a quad you can do it to ->rocket-> quad rj-> double quad rj
Yeah, I it would be a nice idea for Run of the week, I agree... Heh, doing that quadded might get such heights that quake engine wouldn't follow it anylonger  Huh? Wink

ilkka: the bsp has a limit (8192x8192 pixels) .. the engine follows that limit... Smiley the fastest speed (in qw, where it is easier to bunny hop, and in a special circular map) that i've seen was 2600 pps (pixels per second)...

btw, a very common 2x rocket jump is on dm3 from 666 area on the slope (that is between 666 and lifts) and then off wall into window...  but this is not exactly the same as shooting a rocket and teleporting into it and rjing...  but does that count also?

Yeah, I know the DM3 2xRJ, it is even possible to do from the megahealth, but very difficult! (RJ from megahealth, +additional rocket boost from the wall just before the window). I think I did a demo about this and sent it to Ingmar's site, but the demo section seems to be offline. Btw, same kind of trick can be done at least in DM4, from the bottom level to the highest floor... But I haven't seen the teleport 2xRJ ever, that would give way more height to the trick than the usual RJ+Rocketboost at the wall. Phil, what about making a level with the teleport trick?  Wink

hm possible but not ideal distance between teleporter and teleport destination kinda short

on start stand next to one of the 3 skill  teleports fire rocket back ot start double tp back to start double rj up the roof (i need hfr to do it)

It's possible to do it from megahealth in 666 in ONE rocketjump..  I've seen it done both scripted and manual in QW.  But I haven't done it myself so far (haven't tried, really)..

Also, from the slope between pentagram and lifts, in 666 area again, that 2x rj, I've done it in one RJ (and seen it done so beforehand)...  Smiley

I think youre transparent to your own rockets because otherwise they would explode soon as you shot them...  Not sure though

Yeah, I figured out that theres not much incentive to use 2xrj on the 2xrj.bsp to finish it...  The fastest route I think is teleporting to 2nd level and then gl/rj...

SO, I made a 3xrj map Smiley  Here, it is important to do the 2xrj, and also you can do a 3xrj :)....  Well, I am 99% sure you can, but I haven't been able to do it in HFR yet...  But I've tweaked it a lot and I think it's possible, you just need a Lot Of Luck(tm). (I'm pretty sure Jozsef will do it in 10 seconds.........)
