I've been meaning to do this run for too long now. I came up with a basic route for this a while back, which is intended to be done single segment with no death abuse:

-Do Hyrule Castle, collecting the Boomerang and the Lamp from Zelda's cell
-Collect the Heart Container in Sanctuary
-Do Eastern Palace
-Collect Pegasus Shoes and the 100 ruppees in the chests and dash to Kakariko village
-Collect Book of Mudora
-Possibly collect heart 1 from running game, depends on whether it's faster to warp back and forward from the dark world or not.
-Dash to Desert Palace
-Complete Desert Palace, collecting heart 2 up on the ledge when going between the two parts of the dungeon.
-Dash to Death Mountain, collect Magic Mirror.
-Collect heart 3 from Spectacle Rock on the way to Tower of Hera.
-Complete Tower of Hera
-Jump off the cliff near Spectacle Rock and collect heart 4 from the cave on the ledge. Leave the cave the same way you go in.
-Dash to Master Sword and collect it
-On the way out of the forest collect the Mushroom and heart 5 from the cave under the bushes.
-Dash to and complete Hyrule Castle Tower.
-Collect heart 6 on the way down the pyramid.
-Dash to the Palace of Darkness and pay Kiki his blood money
-Complete Palace of Darkness, aiming to collect most of the ruppees in the dark room downstairs on the route to the Hammer-
-Follow the usual route to the flute boy, but when you reach the bomb shop take a detour south and collect the 300 rupees from the guy in the cave.
-Get the Shovel, then the flute, and warp back to the Dark World.
-Dash south, warp to the light world and collect heart 7 from the cave, then return to dark world.
-Do the digging game for heart 8. Fail it. Restart run. Fail again. Restart run. Fail again. Kill self.
-Possibly warp back to light world to get heart 1 from the running game, depends on whether this is faster than getting it from the light world.
-Warp back to Light World and dash into village.
-Collect Bottle 1 from the back door to the bar and the Bug Catching Net from the sick kid.
-Play the flute in front of the statue
-Enter Blind's light world hideout and get heart 9 from downstairs.
-Warp to warp point 8 and dash north to collect the Ice Rod from the cave.
-Warp to Link's House and go north to enter the dark world.
-Dash to the place where the Witch's hut is. Return to the light world, give her the Mushroom, return to dark world, return to light world, go inside and take the Magic Powder, return to Dark World.
-Dash to the top of the waterfall and get Quake from the fish guy.
-Return to the Light World and get Zora's Flippers. On the way back out collect heart 10.
-Go to the waterfall fairy and upgrade the Boomerang.
-Warp back to Kakariko Village and buy Bottle 2. Jump off the cliff at the northwest to get heart 11 from the cave.
-Go to the woods then take the warp to the dark world.
-Play the chest game in the village. Cry when you fail to get heart 12 after a dozen tries.
-Complete Thieves Town
-Rescue the Smithy's partner. On the way back to the Smithy's smash down all the stumps to get heart 13 from the cave.
-Get the Tempered Sword, then collect the blue chest from the dark world (must be done after getting the sword back as you cannot enter the smithy's with it following you)
-Jump down the hole in the Light World to get the Magic Upgrade. Warp to Link's House
-Take the dark world warp north of the lake and walk to the guy at the entrance to the "desert". Return to light world, collect Bottle 3,return to Dark World.
-Go west, return to the Light World and get Bombos.
-Return to the Dark World and head back to the Swamp Palace. Complete it.
-Once you leave the Swamp palace return to the Light world, collect heart 14, return to the dark world.
-Dash towards lake hylia, return to the Light World in the shallows to collect heart 15, return to Dark World.
-Go north along the narrow river bit to the bridge, return to light world, get Bottle 4 from under the bridge, return to dark world.
-Go north and hookshot across the bridge. Return to the Light World and collect the Magic Cape. Go back to the Dark World.
-Climb the nearby ladder, return to Light World, get heart 16, return to Dark World.
-Go west until slightly west of Sanctuary, return to Light World, get heart 17 from under the rocks, return to Dark World.
-Go to the cave where you need the Magic Cape to travel through the blocks and get heart 18 from the top of the cliff.
-Return to Light World, dash into tree near the Lumberjacks, collect 19 from the cave.
-Fly to Death Mountain. Climb the mountain and get Ether from the top.
-Go to the Dark World and jump off the cliff just below the warp point. Get Staff of Byrna from the cave (make sure to leave at least enough magic for one Ether cast!).
-Return to Light World and fly to warp point 6. Go to Dark World
-Enter and complete Misery Mire.
-Go northwest after leaving and collect heart 20 from the swampy cave.
-Go to the northeast corner and return to the light world to collect heart 21 from under the stone.
-Jump down, head southeast and collect heart 22 from inside the cave.
-Warp to Kakariko village, travel north and warp to the Dark world.
-Go to the forest and complete Skull Woods.
-Return to the Light World, fly to Warp point 8.
-Enter and complete the Ice Palace, ignoring the Blue Mail.
-Return to Light World, fly to Link's House, use the warp to the south to enter the dark world.
-Take the Super Bomb to the pyramid, using the castle gate warp shortcut, and get the Golden Sword and Silver Arrows.
-Fly to Death Mountain and go to Turtle Rock.
-Complete Turtle Rock, collecting heart 23 from the cave outside (requires a light world warp) and the Mirror Shield.
-Go towards Ganon's Tower, stop at the rock half way there. Enter the cave and collect heart 24 from the top of the rock.
-Go to and complete Ganon's Tower, collecting the Red Mail along the way.
-Go inside the pyramid and ban Gannon.

I haven't bothered mentioning dungeon strategies, as these should be similar to the any% run. The magic cape is useful for a couple of boss fights though as it allows you to be really agressive against them (Misery Mire boss for example). There's probably some room for improvement in the route, so if anyone has ideas let me know. The obvious time to aim for is sub 2 hours, but I reckon sub 1:59 is very doable.
The Cane of Bynra uses less magic per second than the Magic Cape FYI.  Unless its offensive feature is getting in the way, I'd use it over the cape in general.

Yeah, but unfortunately it also causes some major slowdown when used against Vitreous. So, while the Magic Cape uses more magic, the time gained from using it outweighs the time lost due to refilling a slightly emptier magic bar at the end.

Hey Madzombie.

Your determination against heart 8 and 12 really astound me.

I have some comments and suggestions to your route.

Regarding after crystal 1 but before crystal 4:

Warp to Light World, give Mushroom, warp back, get Quake, Flippers, heart 10, Magic Boomerang, at this point, fly back to the Magic Shop, collect your Powder, then fly to Kakariko as you intend.

There's a minor error around the Swamp Palace part in your description.

As for the rest of the route, it definitely looks interesting, because it is much different than the run at the moment. I'll let you know when something comes to mind. All the best with the run my friend.

Edit: I personally believe that skipping the boomerang at the start will end up saving more time. Firstly, you'll lose a bit of time in the Tower of Hera (mostly) and other small parts like in the basement of Hyrule Castle and the Eastern Palace. You'd gain all this time again from skipping the boomerang, and more importantly, avoiding the waterfall fairy altogether. You can get a magic boomerang in a chest in dark world Kakariko, here (provided you don't get the blue boomerang):

Heart 8 and 12 are frustrating because they are about half way through the run and they are very random. I've had numerous practise runs fail because of them.

I think I will skip the Castle boomerang and get the red one for the village of outcasts. There's a few areas where the boomerang saves a second or 2 earlier on, like for grabbing keys and the like, but it's almost certainly worth it for the 20+ second saving.

I'm not sure if your new Magic Powder route is faster, it depends on whether calling the flute bird again is faster than warping to the dark world and back again. Bear in mind that I need to equip the mirror again shortly after that point, so it's not adding an extra menu switch.

I'm not sure what you mean by an error around my Swamp Palace route, unless its because I didn't mention that I had to return to the Light World to pull the switch.
100% runs=great to watch
In case it somehow became an arguement later on down the line though with somebody else's run....could you indeed skip getting an item in favor of picking up a more powerful replacement variant and still ran in as a 100% run as opposed to just an any/high % run?
m00
yes, you can.
You'll lose the blue boomerang anyway, so there's no difference between getting the blue one and upgrading it, or getting the red one right away. What counts is that you'll end up with the red one.

looking forward to the run.

-Take the dark world warp north of the lake and walk to the guy at the entrance to the "desert". Collect Bottle 3.
-Go west, return to the Light World and get Bombos.

The old man is in the light world. Minor error, not a big deal.

Edit: about the Magic Powder, it just a suggestion to take into consideration. I have a feeling your current methods are faster, though it's best to test every possible method.

I did a quick test and it takes around 7 seconds to call the bird and land. It also takes around 7 seconds to do a dark world to light world and back to dark world transition. I'll test it some more but at most it'll be 1 or 2 seconds either way, so it's six and half a dozen at the moment.

Edited my route with the bottle guy being in the light world.
I'm curious to see some of your boss strategies. The ones used in the current run aren't very impressive. For instance: if you plan to have 1/2 Magic before Level 5, you can use it to your advantage against the boss. Once you melt the ice away and Spin Attack him before he can split apart, the Fire Rod is actually a much faster and more effective way to kill him. (About 3 or 4 shots per cloud after the Spin Attack.)
This can only be done with 1/2 Magic, though, since without it you'll use up all your magic just for the ice, and thus the trick doesn't appear in the current runs that are up.
I don't know about the animation time or the magic saved and its effect on net time, but a single use of Bombos melts Kholdstare.  A medallion use is 1/4 of an undoubled magic meter(or 1/8 of a doubled one) so by using Bombos there you are granting yourself six more Fire Rod blasts which could kill Kholdstare's second form more quickly.  It does twice as much damage as a strike of the tempered sword to incinerate Kholdstare with the Fire Rod so those 6 extra Fire Rod blasts are saving 12 sword swings.  What, it takes 4 Fire Rod Blasts to kill a piece of Kholdstare so you'd need 12 in total to kill him without a sword.  You'll only have 8 left after melting him with the Fire Rod so assuming perfect accuracy really means that you substitute 8 sword swings for 4 rod blasts, and that's what it amounts to.

It's something interesting to consider at the very least.  A medallion is slowish to use, and just hammering on 8 rod blasts might be faster, but you can save a bit of time by having more magic.  It will probably be close on time either way, but doesn't a part of you want to get some use out of Bombos anyway?
A SS 100% of this game would impress me.  Shocked
I'm addicted to games

My Kholdstare strategy is simple: Magic cape. Once I've melted him with the fire rod I will switch to the cape, then trap all 3 parts of the boss in the top right corner. This is possible without the cape, but doing it while avoiding the falling ice blocks is very hard. This means I can optimally kill Kholdstare with a total of 8 sword swipes, as each swipe will hit all 3 parts. I reckon this is both faster and easier than using the Fire rod, as you can only hit one at a time with the fire rod.

I just thought of something that might save time while watching the LttP TAS.  Luck abuse to get a bomb from the bushes before entering the castle, and then get the 300 rupies after going through the sewers.

I'm also curious to know if there's been any progress on this run.  If you've just been playing Twilight Princess, I won't blame you.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

That's a good idea, but I don't think any of the bushes from Link's house to the Castle drop bombs.  I could be wrong though.
In my years of playing, I have never seen bombs drop from bushes in that area, and it might be a restriction placed on phase 1 of the game in general(much as dash bashing trees gives you different items in each phase of the game).  If it's in the TAS, there's obviously some sort of chance.  Would you clarify exactly which bush gave the bombs?  The ones I would think to try would be the ones right in front of Link's house, but maybe there are some more obscure bushes that have the drop?
zzzzzzzzzz
I don't remember which bushes gave bombs, but I have definitely done it before with the specific intent of getting the coins in the dungeon so I didn't have to do it later.  It may have taken quite a while, and I don't know if there are certain things that would trigger a bomb drop.  If it's possibly just the number of bushes you pull or cut, then it's almost certainly not worth it.
O Zlda?
I've actually always wondered about that. There is a room in the sewers with two bombable walls, and to exit the room you push two blocks out of the way. They are layed out in such a manner that you can never come back through via sanctuary, so you essentially may never enter the sewers again. I've never had a bomb to get into those walls and always wondered what's in there.
pidgeons
There's a gravestone in the graveyard that can be pushed back to reveal a pit, which leads back down to the castle sewers. That's the only way to get back there after rescuing Zelda for the first time, and it's assumed that you won't have bombs on your first trip. And yes, I'm addicted to Twilight Princess at the moment, so I probably won't get started properly until mid january.

Hello Guys, just some questions on 100% speed run:

What is 100%? All Items and all hearts?

Do I need to have the Shield Level-2 before I obtain the Mirror Shield? Or I can skip the Shield Level-2?

Do I need to collect all dungeons maps and compass? To complete all rooms?

To get the 1/2 Magic Meter?

To get full stock with bombs and Arrows?

Anybody can help me here, Please!

Thanks
The thing you need is:
All heart containers, all items, mirror shield (No need to get the second one.), red mail (No need to get blue.), magic boomerang (No need to take blue). No need to take maps or compass, no need to enter all rooms, magic upgrade. And to get the bomb and arrow upgrades is not included actually. Because it just take so much time to get the money for it, and it's just so boring to see anyway.

Hope that helped ;).

PS: Sorry that I have been mean to you, Rodrigo... Just didn't like that you were lying in the LA topic. But whatever. Tongue

pidgeons
Wait, is the magic upgrade necessary or not? I think the current run includes it but I saw no mention of it being necessary on the LttP page. Perhaps an admin or mod could clarify if I need to collect it?
Videogame Master
Thank you  Tompa

I see that you are a good guy! Cheesy

About the Magic Upgrade I don't feel necessary for 100%, like happen with bombs and arrow upgrade, just the itens and hearths are importants.

See ya
secret of mana master.
the magic boomarang.... iirc, don't you need the blue one to turn into the red one......... if not, how the hell can you obtain the magical boomarang.
