No, I'm just trying to encode a video from any source. The MP4box extension crashes every time I plug in any video file at all.

If I give it a raw file from my capture card, then it rapidly desyncs it because my capture card only does Variable Framerate.

If I give it a file from Handbrake or a .f4v from Adobe Premiere, this happens.

Binary file with the md5 sum 075dc040f5ac0d70cafac4b12dac5b47, it doesn't appear in the tray, as it should. The version I compiled myself does.

Why not switch to use AppGeeker converter http://www.appgeeker.com, it converts everything and should work for you.

Why switch to some unknown software when there is one that is proven to work and provides you with lots of control over the encoding settings?

yeah, dropping that into yua and pressing ctrl-e encodes successfully for me.

how much free space do you have on the c drive? are you running antivirus or anything like that?

just tried yua first time and immediately found something interesting - in HQ works fine, in IQ everything goes grey, audio is muxed but video goes into porridge, or rather grey matter

where can I find or save some logs to investigate it?

IQ encodes in 4:2:2 if your source was 4:2:2. Some media players can't handle this. What did you use/feel free to post a sample.

MPC-HC preferred for media player playback.

what do you need as a sample?
original recording? (fraps) - can cut it to let's say 3 seconds
HQ, IQ outputs
some logs? (in temp directory or somewhere else yet)

and I use mplayer (mplayerhq not media player) as player

I've never heard of that player which is why it probably has issues. Try MPC or VLC. It's a simple installation.

as far as I remember many people from FFmpeg are also part of the MPlayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/) project

anyway, I checked MPC-HC and it worked when MPlayer refused to cooperate giving bunch of errors in console while playing

that mplayer is from 2010-04-07. so maybe it is too old to play the video.

Why then HQ from same yua 7 works without single warning, and IQ from anri-chan the same - flawlessly?
I noticed that new MPC-HC can play this video but it's not the point - on tele I have the same, and this televisor isn't old - has less than 3 years, when yua has 2 years now. Just asking whether it is something that can be done here.

btw. I have some simple suggestion:
apart from start and abort buttons, pause would be cool and very useful
encoding video/s is resource consuming and if you really need to do something at the moment it's practically impossible
if you could pause for a moment it would be great

You should upload 3s-sample_yua_IQ.mp4. It's possible that your Yua_IQ sample is in a 4:2:2 colorspace, whereas Anri would only be 4:2:0. If 4:2:2 is causing the problems, then you need a better/updated media player.

At this point it's not really a good idea to compare to Anri. Anri is over 3 years old now, and Yua does things differently.

there is nothing wrong with the video (3s-sample_yua_IQ.mp4). it is because it uses > 4:2:0 colorspace and your video player is out of date. update your video player.

just tried new mplayer (again sherpya's build but what can you do L) ) and works fine

actually this video is 4:4:4

according to the reading you guys have given me talking about subsampling I'm bit surprised that YUA uses 4:4:4 instead of 4:2:2 which uses less bandwidth and in same time is perceivably no different from 4:4:4

I know there was a reason for encoding RGB to 4:4:4 but I can't remember what it was. Reading some stuff it does seem like RGB to 4:2:2 might be a decent idea if the file size reduction is significant enough.
