Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!
I don't know if SDA is still in concern about space, but I thought I'd run this by everyone's attention:

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhosting/

Source: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2008/02/06/yahoo-now-offering-unlimited-web-hosting/

It requires a 3-month-minimum commitment. That's the only condition I see, otherwise, TBs of data with 100's of TBs of transfer for a very competitive ~ $150/year.
Thread title:
Fucking Weeaboo
Yeah, but read the fine print.  While it's "unlimited" if they sense abuse of this, they can shut you down. Sad

Yarr
Quoting from the disclaimer:

"Additionally, the purpose of Yahoo! Web Hosting is to host web sites, not store data. Using an account primarily as an online storage space for archiving electronic files is prohibited."

So if all of the runs would be moved there, the whole site has to go with it.

Anyway, one could always contact Yahoo about if they would agree with provding bandwidth and storage for SDA, just to make sure.
they wouldn't.

nothing in it for them.

welcome to the machine
Whenever anyone offers unlimited storage space, there is a 99.9% chance that they're just doing it as a marketing ploy and don't expect you to actually *use* that space.

And if you do, you get terminated.

(and for the curious, the only reason I bothered saying "99.9%" instead of "always" is because I'm surprised SDA hasn't gotten it's account killed, again, by now (maybe lunarpages is an exception?))

maybe you missed it - lunarpages did nuke us. only the flash server remains. we got a server at fdcservers which has "unlimited" bandwidth at 100 megabaud, but it's shared with other servers. however in this case we've been luckier - has to do with the fact that it's dedicated servers i think (so also an order of magnitude more expensive than lp). thing is though that we cost fdc thousands of dollars a month in bandwidth but only pay $129. so that means their other customers are subsidizing sda.

now maybe i'm a little biased but if i were "their other customers" i would gladly subsidize sda like they are. but hey, who am i.

Wow, I would really like to know how I managed to forget about that (especially when I posted in that topic, among other things).

Brain fart, sorry.
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music

Yeah that's the voodoo magic behind shared hosting. If we paid the amount of bandwidth we use, SDA would be dead in a month.

About this thread, basically it's just like the old adage you know? If it's too good to be true...
