Hey All. I've been running this game for a while and I'm just about ready to throw down some legimate runs on console to submit to SDA.

I need a Master System with a power supply and whatever is necessary to hook it up to my TV, stock controller and WonderBoy in Monster Land (Wonderboy II) to go with it. I Live in Sydney - Australia and finding these things are near impossible here. Even when I do it's PAL and the PAL version of this game is slower with no real advantage. I don't mind if it's Japanese or American, both are fine =]

Would you happen to have a Genesis already? If so, then I would highly recommend getting a Power Base Converter, or a Master System Converter 2. They're a lot cheaper than a new console, and let you do the same thing (since the Genesis has all the SMS hardware built into itself).
Balls jerky
The PAL version of the game is the NTSC version of the game (the ROMs are identical). The console is what decides how fast it runs. If you already own the game, you just need an NTSC console. You would mind if it's Japanese though because the Mark III/J-SMS has a different pinout than the US/Euro consoles. Good luck man. You're gonna get raped on shipping and I feel sorry for you already. Sad

I don't have a Genesis but that's a really good idea. I'll look into getting that instead. Thanks dude.

I wasn't aware of that either. Thanks for the primer. Even though I've been speedrunning for close to a year I still feel like a noob not knowing all these things. After looking at how much brand new master system consoles are going for on Ebay I'm quite happy to pay a bit for shipping =p

Heh, I bought the cheapest NTSC SMS off Ebay a few days back, and it cost me quite a bit. I'm afraid I left you with all the $100+ ones, haha. Shipping and import costs are the worst when importing an SMS.

I imported a Genesis 2 via eStarland last year and bought an SMS converter 2 for it. If I remember correctly, that cost be about $100-120 in total, including shipment costs. If you look around, you should be able to find a relatively cheap console as well.
Or you can buy a PAL SMS for 20$ and mod it to NTSC with 3 wires and a switch.
Though that is disliked by SDA and requires basic knowledge of soldering.

There's nothing wrong with modding a console for NTSC.

Quote from da rules:
-Hardware modification: Players may not modify their consoles, with a few exceptions. The only extra or modified hardware allowed are mod chips and boot disks used for playing imports, audio/video mods to allow old systems to output in higher quality, and official add-ons, such as the Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak.

Thanks guys. I managed to get a good deal on all of this stuff on Ebay and yes, I am getting raped by shipping >____>
