Really want to start running Mega Drive and Master System games properly, only problem is I'm in the UK, so looking for an NTSC Mega Drive or Genesis.

Doesn't matter if it's Mega Drive 1 or 2 since my Master System converter runs on both, although does anyone know if I need to do anything complicated with the power supply or TV connection to make it work in the UK or can I just plug and play?

I think I have a spare Genesis 2 lying around here somewhere, complete with a Sega CD. I'll try to get it hooked up and tested this week to make sure it works. If so, it's yours for shipping cost (and you can opt out of the Sega CD to save there too). I'll have a look at the power supply when I find it; I'm sure it'll be 110-120V only, but as long as the output current and plug match the UK version, it should be plug and play.

Oh, and the TV connection will be entirely up to your TV. Smiley I'm not sure I have extra cables for that, though.

I definitely have an extra Genesis (what's a Mega Drive Wink ) 2 if you don't care about having a reset button. I've also got an extra non-HDG model 1. Not really sure if I have extra cables for either of them, but Euro cables should work as well.

If you look on your power supply and it outputs the following you should be fine:

Model 1: 9V DC 1.2A
Model 2: 10V DC 0.85A

All right, I finally got everything together to test this thing, and it works just fine. Smiley Two caveats:

1. Someone, at some point in the distant past, apparently spilled pop (soda, if you will) on it. I've cleaned 95% of the residue out of the inside of the system, but the power button has a bit of stick to it, so when you press it to turn the Genesis off, it rises a bit slowly. If I had a pipe cleaner on hand, I'd be able to finish cleaning it. The button hardware inside is fine; the sticking happens in the outer casing.
2. It's a VA0 model, so it has awful sound compared to some other models. The Sega CD supposedly helps rebalance the quality, but I don't know, as I've only ever actively played on my VA6 Genesis 1.

And as dballin said, 10V DC 0.85A, center positive for the adapter. The Mega Drive 2 adapter might be compatible, but no guarantees. And I had to pull the cables from my 32X to test, since I don't have any extras. So far, it looks like it'd be about $25 to ship the Genesis and Sega CD together, and maybe $15 or so for the Genesis only. Note that the Sega CD is untested, as I don't have the cables for that (it should use the same adapter as the Genesis, so you'd need 2, and then it has its own audio output). Let me know if you're still interested!

Oh! Also, if you don't want the Sega CD with it, I don't have the expansion port cover (I received them together, with no cables or anything extra), so it'd have a hole in the bottom right of it.

Both models of Sega CD use the Genesis model 1 power supply. If you use a model 2 supply, you're gonna have a bad time.

I was not aware of that. Then again, the plug has different dimensions, so you likely wouldn't be able to get it to fit without damaging it (or the Genesis) anyway. Smiley
