Hi all new here at SDA  but have been aware of SDA since GDQ '13 I used to run games when I was in school and have wanted to get back into it since watching gdq '13 but me work schedule didn't allow things have slowed down and Id like to get into some running. Enough about me I was wondering which final fantasy would be a good game to learn and start running? Looking to do any% single segment runs!

Depends on a couple things I would say.  First, which one(s) are your favorites?  Eventually once you start driving your times down, you are going to reset bad runs, and it sucks to reset a ton on games you aren't that interested in.  Second, how long of a run do you have the time for/are you comfortable with doing?  FF10 might be your favorite, but it's around a 10 hour run.  If you can't devote most of your day to a run, you might want to avoid the longer ones.  I personally don't think I'd like to do runs longer than around 4 hours, so I do FF4 and Mystic Quest because they are shorter runs.  FF5 and 6 clock in close to that mark too, so they could be in my future.  1 is around 3-4 hours also.

Basically run what you love, and what you have time for Smiley
Look up the Final Fantasy games you like on http://www.speedrun.com/final_fantasy and see the times so you can get a rough idea of what you're looking at.

There's a FF1 PSP tournament going on right now and that got me into the game. It is a sub 2:00 run, which is what attracted me to it and even though it is not my favorite FF, I actually like the game a lot more speed running it.
Seconding the recommendation for FF1 PSP, as long as you don't mind RNG too much. It's a pretty short run and a ton of fun. The equipment glitch (which is not hard to do technically) eliminates all but about 2 minutes of grinding from the run. It's also very easy to learn overall.

I never knew that about 1 PSP.  That's pretty cool.  When I said 1 was 3-4 hours I meant the NES version.
