Quote from Zurreco:
You shouldn't have to hide at all.  Going left triggers one of the twins from the skylight. Going to the room you came from, then turning back around will make him disappear, making the path to the car very direct.

This is the only true console game I can think of with a quick and legit end.

Actually, you do need to hide from Scissorman. Going back through the door will only place him behind you on your way to the garage. Since you can't grab usable items while being chased, you can't get the necessary car key until after you hide from him.

Regardless, a run of the H ending would be stupidly fast (and boring).

[Edit]: Technically, you don't have to hide if you do the glitch D ending. I don't think obtaining the rock and going through the courtyard is worth it though.

We'll see.
Yeah, I said it.
Eh, eventually someone will submit an Adventure (2600) speedrun, and that will be the new fastest run on the site.
Hi! I'm andrewg!
yeah, wow...

I've beaten Myst (bad ending) in 31 seconds. All it takes is memorizing the spots to click and reacting. I did it with a trackpad, too, so that could be lowered significantly with a "real" mouse.
Waiting hurts my soul...
Not sure if it would be considered an ending, but I played Harvest Moon for the PS2 and when asked if I wanted to be a farmer I answered no.  Then the game showed me walking away and faded back to the title screen.  I never actually gained control of my character though, so 0? Cheesy

It's the same with Matrix: Path of Neo. If you take the blue pill, end and back to title screen. Grin

what about a speedrun time completion: to normal time completion ratio

so pokemon red takes like 15-30 hours if not longer when not speedran, but takes >2 hours when speedrun

ratio =  10:1
what game do you think has the highest ratio, ie the greatest childhood destruction

Well, then probably dark castle. I'm not sure how long a normal playthrough is though.
Not a Zelda 2 refrence

It should be noted that pokemon red can be beaten in around two min using save corruption.
I should think elder scrolls 3 and 4 would be hard to beat ratio wise, 50+ hour games beaten in 10 min

I think your idea is good in theory, but how does one determine "normal" playtime?

My 1st time through pokemon red I had over 55+ hours and I still didn't have all the badges.

I've had games of Civ 2-4 go on for weeks (real time).

I would say the only marker you could have would be "good" endings, ie not taking the blue pill, being a farmer, not getting the "bad" ending, ect.

I'd say the Morrowind speed run is up for that nomination. And probably the Diablo one as well.

I don't know how credible it is, but there's apparently a run of Romancing Saga that was a 0 time. Enhasa posted it here in the topic about fast Japanese times:

http://speeddemosarchive.com/forum/index.php/topic,2901.0.html

EDIT: I guess the Romancing Saga time would have probably been segmented beyond recognition based on the short description of how it was accomplished.
I'm going to have to nominate clue. for the shortest speedrun ever (30 seconds from power on), and pokemon yellow for the highest normal play/speedrun ratio. considering gia's TAS, I would say (with a shitload of luck) it's humanely possible to complete the game in 3 or 4 minutes. However, since the run is segmented and SDA prevents save discrepincies, the glitched run may not get accepted.

If you considered something like smb1 for example, the ratio of time/completions would be very high, considering that fact that you cannot save. so that may skew results. Also it's probable that some nes era gamers haven't ever completed the game despite putting significant amounts of time into it.
It's-a me, Stalin!

Along those lines, your Fallout 3 run was very quick. Took me about 10 hours to do the story, in addition to messing about Tongue Took you 30 minutes >_>
