I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
hello everyone, i found sda not while ago and now enjoying by watching most notable quake demos in historical order =) it is so amazing to watch demos for a particular map and see how the technique changed... thank you all, guys =) maybe one day i'll try it myself... though my skill needs a lot of improvment =)

okay, i just want to know if there is any way to view coop demos like in splitscreen mode? first idea was to run several quake instances windowed, rearrange windows on the screen and quickly start demos in all of them =) but i couldn't drag glquake window =(
so any suggestions? i also have two monitors if that would help...
and yeah, theres a way to use two computers but now i have only one...

i hope my english isn't terrible =) hello from russia =)

Hello,

I am not aware of any good method to watch demos in split screen (though I know Tei experimented with split screen in his Quake engine Telejano). I basically just wanted to get the following said:

The AVI of Quake done Double Quick lite is made with a split screen view, check it out if you haven't seen it. http://speeddemosarchive.com/quake/qdq/movies/qddqlite.html

That particular AVI also shows one of the downsides to split screen watching - while it may seem cool, it is often hard to follow the action, since the two players are often doing different tasks in different parts of the maps. This is just my own opinion though.

oh, even in splitscreen i'd like to watch speedrun twice (in case of 2-player coop), like normally. one time for each player. but its kinda nice to see where other players are at any moment. and also when there are some tricks where players making something together - looks good i think.

so maybe there is a version of quake that allows you to drag ot in windowed mode?.. i haven't tried joequake... i am not afraid if this wouldn't be comfortable way to watch. like open several windows, type "playdemo <demo_name>" in each window and then run them by quickly pressing enter/alt+tab/enter... =)

also a general question - which quake do you use nowdays to watch speedruns?

yeah and thanx for mentioning qddql, i'll check it out when i'll get to year 2006 =)

I believe the majority of Quake speedrunners these days are using JoeQuake to both watch and record demos with.

And JoeQuake is the only .exe allowed for speedrunning besides the original id .exe's.

You can drag JoeQuake windows if you go into the console or hit Escape to get a menu first. I'm not sure if this also applies to a GLQuake window, but I suspect so.

yeah, i tried joequake and it works. but not in GLQuake.
If you're running window just right click the proces in the tasbar and then you can move it
