I think I will try to work on both the orc and xorc only for now. So far I was able to get 3:14 for xorc1 but I think I have a good strat for that. Hopefully I can get some practice this weekend.

I actually happen to still have some of the runs from the beginning of the thread, though not all of them. Should I upload those to Youtube? The guys who made them seem to be long gone from this site.

When someone mentions a game I haven't played in 10 years, I usually have to pop it back in and play it, which is what I am doing right now(Not speed running just nostalgia and trying to get familiar with it again). I am very interested in seeing more speed runs of this game and I could TRY to help, I am not sure how many people are looking at this or if it matters but you have an avid viewer!

I looked over the speed runs that were submitted to youtube in the post above(more entertaining then a console game for me) and commented on a few of them(nothing serious :P). I thought it would be worth posting here that I want to do everything I can to make sure you succeed. I'm not pro BUT... I was a fanatic about this game and I still am, and I will be happy to watch your vids/help. The advanced controls are the key to speed and will definitely make you efficient enough to pull rushing off, I don't know many of them myself, they are tough to figure out and more or less use effectively. Most importantly, don't be shy to post your videos on this thread regularly, because I will watch them as will others. Smiley

I would also be very interested in watching a wc2 speed run and possibly and could offer a few tips myself.

The thing that is really gonna make og break this run is going to be your mechanics. Wc2 is insanely fast on the highest speed setting (which i think you should use).

When you run this game, pick one Campaign and do all 14 Maps, so it can be published on SDA. Don't start on all 4 Campaigns and only pick the trivial Maps, skipping the hard ones for later. That's rather pointless.

I certainly hope not and I tried to do everything I could to help him including scoping out some of the late xhuman levels, never got to tell him. I think some of those levels may very well go up to 20+ minutes, and I don't think people really attempt those. I think some people have been just picking and choosing the easy levels and just posting the ones they figure out on youtube, I could be largely wrong about that however, so sorry in advance. There was one guy who actually did them all but I think they could have been done a lot better.

It seems that ballofsnow, who made some of the early videos, is still active on the forums. He posts almost exclusively in tech support these days, but his last post was just a week ago. Maybe somebody could message him and see if he still has his 6-year-old videos, or if he could offer any advice.

Speaking as a viewer rather than a runner, I'd prefer to see this run on default speed (slightly faster than medium, I think). What I really appreciate in an RTS speedrun is seeing the strategy that the runner uses, and this can be harder to figure out when everything is happening at ludicrous speed.

I just noticed that the quality of the video I have uploaded is really bad . I guess I lost most of the quality after I converted it. Does anyone have a recommended format I should convert it to?
