Hey, folks, I thought since the speedrunning community is very close, I'd bring this to your attention.
A member of the community named DrWahtwee (most people might have seen him in romscout's, PJ's, mecha's or other streams) has been having immense issues for the past few years. When his mother died, him and his father lost their home due to foreclosure, and had to move from Philadelphia to Ohio to live with Wahtwee's sister. They've been hopelessly searching for jobs since then (most required a car which they don't have), had to sell basically everything they own to survive.
Now a door of opportunity opened to them - they have a chance to move back to Philadelphia, get a guaranteed job and help with searching for a place to live from Wahtwee's uncle.
Some of you might know that DarkspineSonic did a marathon for him that raised about 700$. That helped them to get their internet turned back on to continue job hunting, as well as to help supply them with food since they had gone near 3 weeks without eating. If you wonder why they didn't move back with that money, it is less than half and for the first deposit on an apartment, not even including food, public transportation and power. And that was before they got word of the people in Philadelphia offering them jobs/help finding a place to live.
In order to do so, Wahtwee and his dad need around 2000$ - to move there, food, what have you, until they get their first paycheck. But even if it is just a little, it's better than nothing.
So I thought, maybe open up a thread on SDA, try to organize a little marathon to raise some money for him. If anybody wants to help this member of the community, please, consider participating.
We also would need either an American's PayPal, since Wahtwee doesn't have one and I'm in Europe, or some other place where the money is stored safely and he can withdraw it, so suggestions for that would also be helpful.
Also, if you have a stream, and are more popular than I am (which you likely are if you have a stream), I'd appreciate if we could host that marathon on your stream, just to draw more viewers.
Thanks for reading, and even more thanks if you're considering helping out.
