To start off let me saw I am unable to get Real Player or DivX just yet, I wont explain why, but thats how it is. Is there any other way to watch the runs that require DivX with Windows Media player? Is it a simple matter of downloading a patch to recognize the .avi fil types? or is there no other way. Also, is there any links to the Mario 64 16 star, Oot, LoZ, Blast corps, Super Mario RPG, or GTA III runs that are in a windows media readable format? If so please let me know. Thanks a lot. In the meanwhile ill continue watching ALttP and DKC 1&2 as thats all i can watch. Any help is much appreciated, even if that help is there is no other way without DivX

DivX is just a codec... after you've installed it you can play divx avi files in windows media player. although divx comes with 'divx player' it's garbage and you should stay away from it like 99% of video players out there. I play everything in the old and simple WMP 6.4.
i know but im unable to get DivX due to parental issues, asking if there is any other way to view the movies
Sleeping Terror
The movies are in Divx, so you need Divx to play them. There's no magic way to play Divx without Divx.
I guess what im trying to say are there any links to these videos in a windows media recognizable format

Parental issues?
loooooong story, but in the end i basically cant install anything at all until i get my own computer whenevr that ends up being
another thought just hit me, is there any way i could change these files into a windows media player recognizable format without DivX? If so somebody please tell me because i reaaaaally want to watch some movies

How would they even notice if you installed it? It's very small and takes all of...a minute?
yeh i know ive tried more than once, but unfortunately my account cant acces what appears to be one single file needed and then it says failed to install at the end, because i see it say Failed to Load: bla bla bla during installation real fast. Yes, thanks to my sister, my parents have absolutely no trust in us whatsoever and not only can we not acces any files stored outside of our personal accounts, but it seems we are unable to install software too. joy

But you can download large movies?
yes because there is no installation involved

I don't see how, I'm sorry. In order for your computer to do this, it would have to know how to read the DivX files in the first place, so it would need DivX.

Hmmm... have you tried installing XviD instead? XviD is similar to DivX, and it can read a lot of DivX files.

Here's the homepage:
http://www.koepi.org/

And here's the install file:
http://www.koepi.org/XviD-1.0.3-20122004.exe

If you can't install DivX, it's probably not likely that you can install XviD, but it's worth a try.

I wish you luck! ^_^
hey just remembered this post thought id just say real quick that i eventually figured out how to get it to work...well it wasnt really figuring out as much as finding out my mom's password onto the computer and from there i can install whatever i want. so its all good now, thanks for the help

I have problems viewing:
- the 9th segment of kips any% (1:04) metroid prime run
- the 8th segment of kips special weapons (sub 2:00) RE4 run

I don't think the codec is the problem, since the other segments do work. The screen just stays black, there is no sound, and the clip position doesn't move. Does anyone else have this problem?

Sounds like a good old corrupt download.
