This is about switching the tape for long single segments. (for me specifically- a Yoshi's Island 100% run) So how (or where) do I switch tapes while still guaranteeing to the viewers that it's all been done in one segment?

Is a t-160 tape (2 hours 40+ minute) not long enough?
I not guess for a 100% of YI.

You can just pause the game at any point you want, leave it recording for a few seconds, swap tapes, record, unpause about 10 seconds later and you're good to go. The pause would be edited out.
Alright, I'll pause during a moment that would be like hard to recreate or something.
Since all the individual 100% add up to 2 hr 30 min, I'm guessing a single segment would go slightly longer ::), including the non-level parts.
why don't ya just use tapes which record 240 min?

There is no such tape in the US. The longest we can get is 3 hours, and that and anything longer isn't a good choice. The only way to make such a long tape is to make the taper thinner, therefore making it less durable and not as good picture quality.
ah... i live in europe, 180 and 240 min is standard, my bro even had 5h tapes, but they're not so usual. i guess it's because of the different fps in PAL and NTSC. resolution in PAL is a bit higher, but sucks IMO because the framerate is only 25 Angry
