I find this game pretty unique compared to other FPS in general which is why I played this game so many times. Also I find the option to plan before attacking hostiles really interesting for me to go ahead and speed run this game. However I'm undecided to run a single segment or an IL run. This game is very harsh when it comes to simple mistakes so I'm favoring towards IL. There are 7 acts/mission with one of them you play without team mates. the weapon setup I chose for every mission is the Type 05 sub machine gun, PSG1 sniper rifle, flash bang grenades & C4. handguns are pretty much useless except when you run out of ammo even though they have unlimited ammo. armor gear isn't very helpful because you they slow you down and offer you little protection but I find it safer to have then getting killed in one shot. I play on casual difficulty because I can hold up to 5 gadgets/grenades; in normal difficulty I can hold 3 and in realistic difficulty only 2. it also makes the run less frustrating since higher difficulties have enemy NPCs that are more accurate and deal more damage. I think the strategy of this run is to memorize most enemy NPC locations and hit them before they get a chance to hit back. I'll upload videos asap on youtube then post links here.

1st mission Pyreenes:

2nd mission Old Vegas:

3rd mission Rec Center:

4th mission Convention:

Thread title:
Wake up and be awesome
I'm not sure if you were the runner who recently submitted a R6V2 to SDA, but after watching that run, I recommend going IL. From what I remember, this game is very unforgiving with enemy placement, and is very difficult even on easy. You're weapon loadout looks good, other than that not much else to say. Good luck
yes Hobo I'm the one who submitted the run.
hey Hobo were you referring to this glitch you mentioned in the public verification thread.

http://xbox-360.wonderhowto.com/how-to/do-dummy-glitch-act-2-rainbow-six-vegas-2-166892/

i'm not sure if it works on the PS3.
Wake up and be awesome
That actually wasn't the glitch I was talking about, but that's a cool video none the less Smiley

I was referring to an actual speed running trick that allows you to basically fall or clip through walls. It's really cool and was used in a R6V run a while ago. I'll post the video when I get home. Completely forgot to post it earlier, sorry Lips Sealed

Borderlands 2 Glitch Hunter/ router.
been working on this game for a little while now and have most of the run complete (Never made the thread because I didn't think anyone else would be interested in this game lol)

I'll give an example of how a PC run of this game looks, this should not be compared to a run on console for various reasons, such as varying Loading screens at act transitions, your team re-spawning with you at certain parts of the mission (consoles have them PC doesn't) general mobility and control of aiming is far easier on PC to that of a console and I don't believe that they should be viewed under the same criticism.

Sample Mission:

I know that this can be improved and it will be before a submission happens (reload checkpoint instead of killing myself, last area could be done better) Edit ## the grenade I throw into the window should kill all 3 inside this time it just made them move ... odd

Lemme know what you think Cheesy
judgy the video is set to private. I can't play the video :S

sorry retry now Tongue
its working now Cheesy
looks good. the AI behavior can sometimes be really random and annoying.

I did another run on Pyreenes level with more risky tactics. not much of a difference but still an improvement:

*edit: another re-run Old Vegas:

*edit 2: finally I did Nevada Desert (the one without AI partners) it was near impossible with the old tactic. but I realized I could use smoke grenades. I was stupid not use them in the first place *sigh*.

Borderlands 2 Glitch Hunter/ router.
much better, your ending section was perfect and it looked like overall it had better planning and execution than your submitted version.

Very good improvement Smiley

#Edit : Wish the game would give me an ending section like that ... it always decides to have someone shoot me in the back ... :/ lol
took me several tries to get that good run but wasn't expecting to be that good. that is why flash bangs very useful when enemies are hidden. anyone tries to back stab me or back shoots me gets stunned.

What you are about to witness is the reason I'm getting so annoyed with this game ... a near perfect run Killed (literally) by late spawners, in my head I thought "oh only 1 terrorist down this hallway!!!" ... ... yeah I've heard of spawn killers but not this way round ...

i've had that happen to a couple of times. Ii think it just means you went too fast for them to spawn before you reach them. best way i find is memorizing their locations and shoot as soon they spawn from a safe distance. besides that I had other shitty moments like having your C4 get shot and explode the moment its thrown out.

same thing here plus a glitch 0_o

I see I have similar method to yours for Re Center level. I use smoke and flash grenades as well. is that going to be a problem if we submitted them? or is it ok because we have different systems and planned together?

It should be fine in-fact I would add to my own verification topic once I do submit that a PC run should not overwrite a previous console run because to be fair the control style is so different that you couldn't hope to pull of the same maneuvering as I can on PC or react to *sometimes* randomized enemy spawns.

Basically I would suggest that the game have a PC and a Xbox/PS3 time listed.

To be honest fair fucking play to you for even trying this on a console lol would drive me crazy haha.
thats good to know.

I guess I'm used to the PS controller since PSX and i've beaten this game many times i'm used to fuck ups :S. but yes some times it drives me mad especially when things go wrong near the end of a level ( 0'_'0)

I forgot to mention about timing our runs, when should we start and end timing? I start times as soon the inside view of the helicopter screen appears and end as soon as I ride the helicopter. is that acceptable?

Borderlands 2 Glitch Hunter/ router.
OK If we take your Old Vegas Rerun video as a baseline I would start the timing @ 0:23 and end the timing @ 15:50 as even though you are in the Helicopter you still have control of your character.

I would also say that loading screens be taken out also due to the fact that console has more of these throughout the missions themselves and due to the variance in loading times between consoles (XBOX/PS3) and also between different versions of those consoles.

So my time for your Re-run of Old Vegas would be .....

0:42 - 4:10 = 3:28
4:47 - 7:17 = 2:30
7:43 - 10:36 = 2:53
11:13 - 15:50 = 4:37

IL time = 13:28

edit# In comparison your loading time total is 1:42, my loading time for the same level is 4 seconds.
I wasn't sure about timing the end so I guess I have to edit the times on the title. As for loading times they also counted even for IL I think?!

finally after what appears to be the most resets I've done for this run yet, I completed Rec Center without deaths but had some minor setbacks on the way:

not sure if it was the controller, game or just me was clumsiness at 8:23 & 11:26.
has anyone done the Convention level. The last part just below the Monorail station where you send your team to defuse the bomb is the only part very I'm having trouble with; the part where the escalator leads to the station is the only thing that is taking me awhile to speed run. The problem is NPC's will go down the escalator and they vary from how many and time it takes for reinforcements. I found the solution is to order a smoke grenade then send my team up the escalator but its risky to have them get shot. I hate this part because there no other way to go up without being surrounded and shot down easily.

Uh reloading the checkpoint previous to it might force a particular spawn pattern other than that I don't really have much in the way of advice.

Also fuck Rec Center ..... Giving me nothing but shit for the past week ...

yeh Rec Center is pain in the ass to run. the only things taking me long to run is the random spawning. In the start after roping down from the roof, breaking in the window then going down the stairs is where enemies spawn/despawn from cover point. I try to deal with the spawn points by throwing flash bang but doesn't always work. all I need is some good RNG in this one then move on to Penthouse level.
