if someone wants to improve joes run...
Watch his demo...he's got quad + gl and enough health (can't remember if he has, but you can have if you play it right). I'm sure you could use that to gain a second. Of course, you'd have to be able to bunny well to get to that part but hey, it's fairly straight forward.

oh and as a minor point...in the gold key room when you jump into the casket...joe uses the far end slope to get into the casket but you can use the slope closest to you when you enter. won't gain you that much but still.

Yup. It would seem so.

I tried that for a while, but it wasnt easy. When you run up to the coffin, the shambler and DK will run into the corner, and then you cant boost from them. Sometimes the shambler and DK would start fighting, but you need to be lucky to get them near the door. And you need to be fast. It doesn't take many whacks from the shambler before the DK is dead (since you boost from him with a gren). It's doable allright, but will maybe be alittle hard, I'd love to see it though, so why dont you give it a try? =)

The coffin jump is absolutely optimal in my demo, so it saves alot compared to joe's entry. It's alittle hard to control the height of the jump, and if you go very high you could lose maybe a second or so.

And as I said in the txt file, it is possible to get a shambler boost down to the exit. That would be almost as good as a quadboost. Could save a second if it's hard enough. I would say :39 is doable and :38 is optimal, but :38 would be very very hard.

Oh, and lets not forget that you'd need :23 at the button, like in Joe's demo. I could only get there in :24 =/

edit: The quadboost would be easy in the nightmare run. DK's would be crowded beside the door.
yuck fou
well you don't always have to boost off something.
you can always just place a grenade at the door or something like that. won't save as much time as boosting but it would save a second I think.

I have tried it. And I can get to the button as early as joe does but then I always fuck up the rest. I've tried it enough. I'm not going to do it Smiley

Well, it's hellof hard to throw that grenade at the right angle (you need to throw it up into the air, in a big arc, to make it land just in front of the door, so you can boost exactly when the door opens. I tried that, but it was too difficult for me. I found if I threw it differently it was very hard to judge the outcome of the boost. But hey, I'm teh n00b, so what do I know =D

But what I also forgot: I'd say it's impossible to make it to the button in :23 AND take the yellow armor (so you can boost fast from the ogre after the button, boost from the DK and survive the quadboost). It's doable in :24 though.
yuck fou
or just bounce it, shouldn't be too hard.
and I'm not so sure you need the yellow armour (though of course it helps)...it all depends on how you do it.

you don't have a lot of health when you get to the door...so there's two alternatives as I think it's mostly hard to survive a quad boost without ya or extra health.

1) get the ya, and do the boost from the door, probably no need for extra health => most time saved.

2) skip ya, wait until door opens, place grenade and pickup health and then off you go => time saved, just not as much.

of coure you could probably survive without both ya/extra health if you get the boost just right, but that's hard.
