Hello fellow Gamers and Speedrunners!
I've been browsing around this Site for quite a while now, and with every minute of speedrunning that I'm watching
(be it live or recorded) I more and more get into the mood of trying it myself.
So these last weeks I've been looking for a game to get started with.
For me as a casual speedrunner (for now) it was important to find a game, that is most of all fun to play!
At the same time I wanted to start from scratch, which means, there shouldnt be a speedrun of it on this site already.

Long story short: I finally found the game I will be working on from now on!
The game is called "The Thing"  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thing_(video_game)
and I will be playing the PC-version of it (patch 1.2)

If anyone wants to join in and contribute, feel free to do so!
I found a few glitches and skips here and there already, and I'll try to upload some training segments as soon as I think they're worth watching.
So much for now!
thanks for reading Smiley

Thread title:
Hey, so I've been doing some runs here and there, and actually I found a way to clone myself within the game Cheesy
It's probably not useful for a speedrun, but it's fun!
Here's a screenshot of me and my clone-brother Cheesy
The first segment of my run:

Some parts are a bit sloppy, so it should be possible to save some more time if executed perfectly.
I'm just uploading it, so you guys can see the route I'm taking.
Also I have to check whether the ingame-timer is accurate, and whether it continues during cutscenes (because it is possible to skip cutscenes in some cases!)
Anyway, I hope you're having fun watching the first segment. Next one is coming soon!
Here's the second segment of my run:
Nice job so far. I watched both of your segments and plan to watch the other ones if you continue working on the game. I've never actually heard of the game but it looks kind of interesting. x3
I loved the movie but never played this game. Without being able to give any critique, I've watched your segments.
Hey, I will continue at some point, but at the moment I'm caught up with a lot of uni work, so I have no time for any runs. Also there's some parts of the game that are absolutely not optimized. (One being a room which you can't escape from, until you kill all monsters. And that takes more than 10 minutes).
But as soon as I'm done with exams I'll continue here Smiley
So, a few updates: First of all, good news! I found the video to the old speedrun by Zer0, who completed the game in 50:24 (but the speedrun has never been verified), so I'll be watching that for a bit of inspiration!
Also (because the game isnt too long by itself) I will do singlesegment runs, instead of recording a lot of segments and uploading them...
Still, I'm looking for a few more people who would like to help out with finding optimizations (like useful glitches etc.).
To be honest, the game is quite fun (maybe a bit difficult when you do a speedrun of it), so it'd be nice if anyone would like to pick it up!

Hey guys, here's a little update to one of the levels! I've found a pretty major skip (considering the fact that due to the linear structure of the game it would only be possible to skip the level you're in at the moment!)
The first part of the video shows the level played by Zer0 (which took around 5 minutes and 2 seconds)
and the second part shows my approach to the level (which takes around 59 seconds)

I'm using a glitch I discovered a few months ago, which allows me to glitch through a wall and trigger a cutscene outside.
Here you go (My run starts at around 05:05):
Hey guys, its been a long time since ive wrote anything here. In the last years I didnt really have time to do and record any real runs of the game, but i did invest a lot of time into it and wanted to record a few little walkthroughs, so you get an idea of the glitches i use and the general route through the levels.
Let me know if you like it, and maybe i even inspire someone else to pick up the game Smiley
So here is the Route for Level 3A and 3B with commentary:
Hey everyone, I recorded two more videos showing off the route for Level 4A and 4B. This time without commentary. Just running through very fast, to show whats possible!
Videos are not so long, so id be happy for some feedback. (Do you like them? Wanna see more? Whats better, with commentary, without?)
