I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Well what can I say. Better late than never?

We'd recorded loads of voices for the cinematic version of the Rabbit Run, but as you all know it never got done.

The recams were done, complete with jokes and even some music. We had dialog for cutscenes.

Now I'd like to put together either a bunch of the runs, or perhaps even all of them in the recammed form. I am no capturing expert, but a good video editor and professional post production sound engineer.

Should someone be interested or could recommend someone, I'd like to discuss putting this movie together by illustrating the cutscenes with comic drawings or static renders, get some music together for the runs, and capture all the recams we did.

Is anyone interested in participating ?

First I'd need to capture all the video. Can anyone recommend a way to do this ? (Fraps, Aviwrite or single frame?)

Then I'd need to find an artist to illustrate the cutscenes, though I may have one handy here. The voice overs would be playing over that.

Then there's music. We can't use commercial stuff, and I know a few musicians here, but you can never get enough recommendations, so don't hold back.

Right now it's my plan to at least put the best recam runs together and mix a good sound track(maybe even replace some sounds).

Fire away your suggestions people. I'm no beginner but my experience in video transfer has been very limited in the last six years.

Thanks for any help at all.

Hi,

i'm a sound engineer too ( although i choose to postpone my professional audio career in order to go study some more first... you probably know better than me that the audio world is a hard one ), and like to compose music, so if you need any help on that front, feel free to let me know!

If you'd like to hear some of my stuff, you can check out... Ahum... Apparently Guest Posts can not contain links, so you will have to Google for "suicidopolis human psychology", the first link that comes up should be a link to a page where you can find the entire album ( free of course ); you can listen to it online or download the *.iso file.

About that video capture... Every time i start JoeQuake i notice this "AVI Capture module loaded" kindda message... I never bothered too look up what it actually is, but i assume it must be possible to export demo's as avi's from within JoeQuake... After that, it's easy to convert to other formats.

Greetz!

As I've already told you on IRC, Joequake has got a killer option to capture demos, it's really no problem. You have to use the joequake-gl version, the commands that would interest you are
capture_fps
Sets on how many frames/sec you wish the video to be captured. 30.0 by default.

capture_dir
Sets the directory where avis to be saved during capturing, "capture" by default.

capture_mp3
Turns mp3 audio compression on/off, 0 by default.

capture_mp3_kbps
Sets mp3 compression's bitrate, 128 by default. Only works if capture_mp3 is 1 (trivial).

You can then either start capturing single demos one by one with 'capturedemo [filename]' command (yes recams work too), or use capture_start [filename] and capture_stop to capture a longer movie. It's useful to also use scr_conspeed [ridiculously high number] to make console disappear immediately after the demo starts.

The file is saved as uncompressed rbg, so you can do whatever you want with it and it's of great quality, too Smiley

Hello there Anthony. You probably won't recognize my name unless you've kept yourself in the loop (quake wise that is), but I go way back too from the days when QdQ and SDA were founded. I've been away for a while, and I just happened to stumble upon your forum post today. It's a weird coincidence, 'cause I was watching some old QdQ movies the other day and I remembered your name from the SdS release, and hey, here you are :-)

Anyways, just wanted concur with you that it's a big shame the Rabbit Run was never put together in it's intended form, and I'd personally love to see it done. I'm not much help as I'm an idiot with all the technical stuff, but I'll cheer for you if that's any help ;-) Oh btw, I think I have a backup of all the old QdQ stuff (tRR files, etc.) if that's any help?
