The Order 1886 is a PS4 exclusive third person shooter notable for its restrictive heavy-handedness. It is emblematic of cutscene-saturated, handholding-heavy, walking-heavy AAA gaming, making it terrible for speedrunning... or is it?

The Order 1886 could actually make for good speedrunning if you're more interested in a relaxed run with small improvements rather than large skips or strategic overhauls. There are combat sections broken up by lots of walking and button prompts. The walking and prompts are self explanatory. The gun battles require an efficient but cautious approach where you can't get too greedy and you mostly have to do things in a specific order very well and just not head the wrong direction.

Also important to remember is not to slack of during cutscenes before it goes back to the game.

Pick a difficulty at the beginning (show it in the options menu) and don't change it for the entire game. The three difficulty categories are Easy, Normal, and Hard.

Despite being somewhat maligned, The Order 1886 is a more standout TPS than something like Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, or Inversion, just to name a few. It's quite a polished game with nary a single graphical glitch or wallclip, not to mention being properly tailored for TPS beginners. If it doesn't get any re-releases in the near future, it will be a sought after game, certainly to a larger extent than something like The Last Guardian.

If you're used to running Story mode of Conker, Final Fantasy 10, or PS2 Kingdom Hearts 1, the cutscenes shouldn't be a deal breaker.
