Hey Ho Let's Go
A new Quake done Quick project brought to you by TeamSDA  Smiley

The Delightful Run:

http://speeddemosarchive.com/quake/projects/tdr/
Thread title:
Hey Ho Let's Go
Personally I think we should start with rd1m2 in both the Easy Run and the Easy 100% category as you'll be getting the grenade launcher straight away.

Can anyone get 0:20 for the ER and under 1:03 for the EH?  Smiley
Hey Ho Let's Go
First demo optimized. Mathias ran rdstart1 in 17 seconds:

Who wants to tackle rd1m2?  Wink

Hey Ho Let's Go
New demo: rd2b_020 from Mathias.

http://speeddemosarchive.com/quake/projects/tdr/

The big question now is, what map should we do next? rd1, rd2 or rd4? There's two things to take into consideration. Ammo (grenades) and runes.

------------------------------------------------------

The rune on rd3 is being picked up on the way to the exit, and you'll be getting some ammo (5 grens) by picking up the GL.

To get the rune on rd4 you need to take a detour from the path used in the 'from scratch' runs. You'd be getting ammo (5 grens) from picking up the GL.

The rune on rd1 is being picked up at the exit, but there's no grenade ammo to be found anywhere.

------------------------------------------------------

So my suggestion would be to run rd3, then rd4, then rd1.

All of the above applies to the 'run' and not the 100%.
is one grenade enough for rd1m4 or too less? with the 50 health from rdstart, another boost can be done on rd1m3 using one more grenade, leaving the map with only one grenade instead of two.
Mumma
We need many many grenades! At least 2 are needed right at the start of rd1m4, for a double grenade jump I suppose. And, we can't forget the start map either. That's 1 or 2 extra grenades right there to get up to the teleporter to rd1m4.

Did I waste too many grenades on rd1m2? I can probably get 21 and pick up the grenade pack close to the armor...

However, maybe the extra grenade boost on rd1m3 can give you time to pick up those packs of grenades after the gold key door and still get a resonable exit time?
Hey Ho Let's Go
Yeah, I was thinking we should pick up the grenades on rd1m3 too. It'll grant us freedom to do lots of crazy boosting on the start map also.

There's now 22 grenades to throw around  Grin

I don't know if it's worth getting headaches for 30, but I'll see. I've had enough trouble trying for it.

EDIT: I'm stuck on 31. It'll be more trouble than it's worth. I got a better looking 31 (except for two spots), with all good boosts.

Two new demos: rdstart2 in 8 seconds, and rd1m3 in 31, both by Tom:

Hey Ho Let's Go
Is it worth picking up the quad on rd1m3? The time saved by getting a direct boost to the exit might not be worth it since you have to wait a short bit for the quad secret to open.
Hey Ho Let's Go
As for the 100% run, I'm not so sure which map would be the best to start with. On rd1m3 you'd be getting the GL, the NG, the SNG and the LG as opposed to the GL and the SSG on rd1m2. It might not save much time on rd1m2 anyway if we decided to do that one as the 2nd map, but it's worth a try I think.

Three new demos: rd2b_020, rds2_006 and rds3_006 all by Connor

http://speeddemosarchive.com/quake/projects/tdr/

Do we have enough grenades for the later levels now without picking more up?

rdstart4_007 by Thomas

The rd4 run wasn't meant to be posted, as it was only experimental, but I'm not complaining  Smiley
tom: if you're still running it, using the secret at the rune might be faster...of course going back and doing the slope-gljump should be the fastest.
Yeah, I'm still putting the route together for earlier grenade plants. I'll be using the slope to reach the SK.
